Hmmm, wow you could do with some body tutorials for the first one; it's body starts out rather rubbery and broad, and when you reach the lower torso and beyond, it turns into this oblique fleshy shape that isn't natural at all. Though, I bet you were trying to convey the wind blowing through the cloak, it seems you had not achieved really achieved that effectively since you have no currents and shadows/light sources.
Moving on to shadows, (this is a really good helper, shadows can make artowrk look very professional or very mediocre.) it is rather obvious that your work almsot has no light sources at all, however I can see some minute attempts at trying to shade some places darker such as under the arm, but that still isn't enough. When doing shadows (Anime style) you will have to grow accustom to wrinkles, which I don't think you are yet; so I won't go too in-depth in to it -- In Anime styles, their shadows consist of about 2-3 layers of shadowing, which make them look very professional and clean when their is a certain consecutive order, wheras in yours, you have light dabbles of shadows everywhere that don't make sense. So, it looks like you're thinking of realism shading, which is faaar more different from Animes. So basically, just look at the picture of Hiei you drew, and use it for reference as shadows. See how crisp and easy the shadows are easily seen? Decent work. Also, I sometimes come on a little too harsh with my critiques and rambles, so if you feel offended in anyway, I aplogize. |

Hmm, you have quite the selection to pick out and critique here, but I'll just comment on your first one, the guy that is holding out a sword that rather resembles like an instrument used for making high-pitched sounds.
Alright, judging from your character's malevolent flare from his eyes, I think you wanted the outcome to be a cool, evil sephirothesque Anime character that always gets the job done, or something like that. Though, from his lack of size and proportion, the character has the limbs and height of a child. I see there are quite numerous amounts of attempts at trying to give the character wrinkles, it backfired upon you and got a little messy. The pants look rather parachutesque and baggy, and everyone knows that no cool, cliche anime character never wears parachute pants. So, try to only put wrinkles where they are needed, not everywhere would would like. Hmm, and just for the hell of it, I'll critique your Shaddow character, too -- while there isn't much to comment upon because it is only a simply detailed half-body drawing, there still are some flaws that you should look into. And, that is mainly the breasts, the breasts in your character are overly.. obnoxious and big. Though, I see by her style and voluptous form you are trying create to give off the cool FF8 Tifa kinda look, but it's just not working with those overly big breasts. Tifa had big breasts. Your character has really, really big breasts. So, just lighten the breasts and allow more natural forms to take place. Pretty decent work. |

Just my recent showcase as of what's on my computer now.
A mecha profile ad I sent to MMFT for a contest. I forgot to vote for myself, sadly. The Zietgiest Highlander, a versatile mech that is going to be in an upcoming comic, if I ever decide to make one. Shin-Ra ARMs Slave Core is what SASC stands for. This was set aside for a little RP.. Some concept art of a resistance soldier. I lost alot of the shading by trying to add that blue background. (I was still rather new to photoshop when I did this.) Concept art for Rasa.net. I hate the way I did the left arm. Another concept art where I had to create a Chinese character that used her weighted sleeves and scarves as a motive of attack. The coloring went a little mediocre when I decided to slump at the hair. Well, those are some of my works that I've compiled on my computer, critiques and comments welcomed. The F-21 Explorer has flushed out its old defensive program to allow the ARKARY, an advanced program that allows it more versatillity and stability when under fire. Though, still having it's old defensive traits, it now carries an extra heightened speed trait. -Update The F-21 Explorer has been installed with another caraprace of Gundanium armor for requested purposes. Main Attribute: Defensive, Versatiliy Callsign: Fulcrum Mecha Information Zietgiest Highlander The last of the default mechs is the Zietgiest Highlander. This specialized mecha is preferred to our first class pilots. The speed of this unit has been improved, and improved time again to increase air patrol under the reigon. However having speed, weapons was the main factor. Unable to take down battle-ships alone, the Shin-Ra engineers gave it a more freedomed style by adding more additional offensive structures to this mecha. Though it decreased the speed, it was better than having a supersonic duck. Main Attribute: Speed Mecha Callsign: -???- Mecha Information Ancient Models The Ancient, archaic models of Shin-Ra have been stowed away under Midgar for many years incase of enemy country abductions were planning to take place. These models are very, very rare and have been piloted/constructed/or sometimes even found by our profound and astute members of Shin-Ra. The only way to obtain these extraordinary mechs is by having a member of an executive position sign you off in ownership. "The Sky Reaper" The Sky Reaper is one of the most attenuated mecha built, because of its size and slenderness, it apparently seemed that a young pilot pilloted this meager gear into battles. Recent researchs have told that some of the mecha was somehow, someway constructed with functioning organisms. The fossils and the seemingly vestigial structures are scattered about this mech at random, making it seem that they have some kind of special protocol or means of defense, however since the parts are scattered at random, they can't conclude anything. Though at one point, the mecha had some sort of AI that was so natural, it wasn't considred an AI. Researchers have said that they've found many nerves and vein-like structures connected to it's main 'brain,' the head. By all of that, they hypothesized that the mech had the ability to think on its own two feet, solve complex problems, and create its own choices. Although the hypothesis was farfetched and as fictional as mecha's in story books, Shin-Ra's engineer's have been procuring hidden logs that told of a tale about his plot to overcome his "master." The documentations have not been elaborate enough to identify if the actual AI or the pilot was typing these. Main Attribute: Speed, Stealth, Energy Mecha Callsign: Scourge Mecha Information The Legendary Seraphim Gear This legendary mechanized unit is not considered as a lowly title of a mecha, but a gear. Seraphim has watched over Shin-Ra's company for so long that even the former CEO of Shin-Ra does not know where it came from. Now, in the present day, Seraphim is stored safely away under Midgar. Mecha Callsign: Seraphim Gear Information Items Mecha Parts (Support) Mecha Parts (Weapons Discovered) Mecha Parts (Armaments) Mecha Parts (Shields) Still under construction for typing errors and story touch-ups, and.. more stuff. Yeah, I know. My RP character ain't that in-deph. The reason for that is because Hayato dosen't usually battle on his own two feet. Heh, I haven't worked on my humans for a bit, but I know that they're not as accomplished as my mecha works. 'What did you draw in the past to become like this?' Well, I had a friend in highschool that drew comics, like me -- everytime I drew comics and showed it to him, he drew comics and showed it to me, soon on we improved upon ourselves and it bacame more of a rivalry than this friendly story-sharing thing we had. However, I still do some collabs with him with his character in my comic and vice-versa, 'And from the fantastic giant robut I'm also guessing you've played the Armored Core series. If you haven't, they're among the best looking mecha ever.' Nope, but I'm guessing that you're talking about my Zietgiest mecha? 'The limbs are the only thing on the people that need improvement, and possibly the scale of the arms on the robot, though the lens effect that I think you're going for is almost perfect.' Heh, yeah. I especially have a hard time with the elbow limbs and knee's. The scale of the arm in the robot looks a little distorted because that hand isnt't really a hand, it's an equipped particle cannon that covers his whole hand. Though insanely big and would look ridiculously overweight to carry, it gives a "cool" essence. thanks for the crits guys. |

Now that just dosen't seem quite fair. A sword that can cut through anything, yet can't cut through these certain gloves and sheaths -- if you think of it, you already stated how absolute and powerful your sword was by saying it can cut through anything. Now, you contradict yourself and say that these certain gloves can endure the sword that can cut through anything, now you have just god-modded.

'I mean, it's not a godmod unless the attack is both unblockable and unavoidable, I allways thought...' Well, if that was true, I could say that I threw a million fireballs 5 times the size of earth at you; is it unblockable? Depends, you can usually reason it out. |
