well, I'm not against increasing protection on computers.... I doubt there are many that would complain about that...

and really, it all depends on what exactly is decided upon as being trusted and not trusted...

but not having the choice to change that.... seems stupid.... if it's my own computer and I'm doing something stupid, then sucks to be me...

[edit] I really did enjoy the video.... the little guy with the arrow was cool [/edit]

well.... technically you can't cite any of us because we aren't actually published or have any sort of degree or expertise in the area you are looking for...

as for the war.... basically it goes like this...

Israel got a chunk of land post WW2 that it has claim to about 2000 years ago....

the Palestinians didn't like that.... and want it back for their own purposes.... and many Palestinians won't even recognize that Israel is it's own country.... they are treated more lik e invaders that must be removed from the area.....

I think it's a stupid bloody war that isn't going to end until one group destroys the other.... I just can't imagine 2 groups so religiously motivated to ever stop fighting the other

well yeah.... I guess it does depend on the requirements your teacher set out for you... a position paper is slightly different than a more formal report.... whatever works for you I guess

I'm a Mormon so I believe what Vulkar described (more or less) although I think his job of explaining was poor at best and doesn't make as much sense as I would like...

but I'm too lazy to add or correct, so tough on me I guess

but yeah, I try to not let the so called restrictions of organized religion stop me from believing in any number of "spiritual" possiblities...

there is truth in every religion....

Hobo: go to Harvard (I don't care how you get in) and then complete a Masters Degree... then maybe someone will listen to what you have to say.... maybe then you'll be smart enough to know whether or not to call the President stupid

I agree with you Belial... but at the same time.... my wife and I don't need sex to feel close, or in love...

I honestly find that I look more lovingly at her at times that aren't during sex. I find there are other things she does that make me love her more than the fact that she will have sex with me .

That's not to say that because sex isn't the ultimate act of love that we don't do it. That's just silly . I agree with Sajin that sex is not the most important part of a relationship. It's definitely a fun part of it and it should be had when both sides are ready (and both old enough to actually handle the consequences). And honestly.... I don't think -anyone- is ready at 15 to deal with all the consequences of having sex. A lot of people at 20 aren't ready to deal with the consequences of having sex.

heh.... I like this thread.... it should be changed to

"Whatever I say must be true because I said it"

Then it would be funnier

[edit] I guess you could add that to the opinions about the president too.... cause it seems that he lives in that world. [/edit]

mean? I was trying to be funny....

I was poking fun at the fact that most debates (internet or otherwise) are pretty much won or lost based on who is more convincing not who is actually more correct.

11 homosexuals? I think that estimate is a little high

but as for the rest.... I've seen it before.... so what? the USA managed to become the most powerful nation on the planet.... run that same idea 1000 years, or 3000 years ago.... and so on and you will get different results.... if humankind lasts another 1000 years someone will do this again and see that everything is uneven in some other way

it proves nothing and will change nothing

yeah, but that is probably the highest it has ever been.... only 70 out of 100...

literacy rates have probably never been better

people look at stuff like this and think the world is so bad.... but it's not... the world is getting better in so many ways.... why do we feel the need to make people read and write? do I need to read and write to plow a field or otherwise feed my family? nope

[stares].... just because people don't own a computer or have a higher education (assuming post-secondary) that doesn't mean they are poor or stupid

it would be nice if there was more detailed information about exactly how much education the people actually would have. How many would have high school equivalent educations?

In many places in the world you don't need any education at all to be "successful".

Anyone here seen it yet?

I watched it this last weekend and I enjoyed it. I'd say worth renting....

But part of why I wanted to bring it up.... there are 2 homosexual characters in the movie that are accepted parts of the family and there is a scene where the family is having dinner and the issue comes up about a child being raised by the homosexual couple.

I guess I'm just saying that the viewpoint that some members of society have about homosexuals (ie that they are somehow ruining the world and the kids they raise will be gay and homosexuals are the reason for 9/11 and they caused AIDS and so on and so on....) really does seem silly when put into the context that the movie has it. Most homosexuals probably aren't the openly flamboyantly gay people that are portrayed in the parades/by the media etc. Most are probably just wanting to be able to go to work and have a partner and live life to the fullest the only way they feel they can.

And I eventhough I will probably always disagree with it, I must say that this movie helped open my eyes and soften my attitude towards homosexuals.

well, the movie itself was very simple.

It takes place at the home of the parents of 5 kids at Christmas time. All 5 kids come home and you get to see them interact over a 3 day period. Not much to it really.

But yeah, to give me a new perspective is rather impressive. I plan on buying it and I suggest that everyone watch it.... regardless of the whole gay part. It's just a good movie.

how can you promise a ceasefire when the group Israel is -actually- going after is the terrorist group Hezbollah, not Lebanon.

The fighting is going to stop when those kidnapped soldiers are returned to Israel. However, I highly doubt they will be returned without a fight. Hezbollah works for Iran (works for and is funded by) and they are not going to stop just because the world wants them to. Their goal is the destruction of Israel, nothing else. This "war" won't end until then, even if the ceasefire is agreed to there will be more fighting and more terrorism in Israel unless Hezbollah is destroyed or disbanded.

well, as far as I know "we" have kept our noses out.

it's not like Israel needs our help to fight a couple terrorist groups.... they have the best military in the middle east.

So apparently there is a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie being made. It's going to be computer animated not live action like the last 4 (I think).

Anyway, I'm kinda excited.... just as long as it doesn't bomb like the new cartoon series did.

no links or trailers cause I'm lazy.... search for it if you want more info

heh, since someone replied I will add this

from what I've read it will be based more on the comics and less on previos movies/tv series. So maybe we'll get lucky and get something new and interesting instead of a lame attempt at doing the same thing over again....
