| Just yesterday, I was looking at an interesting discussion idea on the V for Vendetta Myspace Forum. I really liked the topic, so I put in my two cents.
Read the last two. I'm the first. Anyway, since that answer was so incredibly ignorant, I thought you guys on XGF might and definately are more open to the subject. The topic question: " Is America ready for a revolution, and if so, does the nation even need one?" Shoot away. If you want my opinion, read below. I personally believe we are not free, and it's not just the government that propogates this. Our society is also a MAJOR fuel that inbeds into our minds that the only way to life is to play the game and not argue, otherwise you won't fit in. Everything is good in moderation, folks. I think in my mind we don't have enough freedom, but we do have enough freedom to make life comfterable and thus, no one complains. When we think about life, miniscule things like what we'll eat and what we'll do that day enter into our minds that we have freedom. True freedom is something we don't have, and I'm afraid of humanity having it. Imagine if you will every citizen in America suddenly freed from laws, expectations, and duties. With time would come ruin and the enviroment, the people, and the person would suffer. What we need is to cut back on our laws and corporate-minded society. We always tihnk of things in terms of money, instead of other, more spiritually enriching things. Our Constitution is beautiful, it's everything else that needs to be changed. The most effective method to fight against lack of freedom is to get fresh-minded individuals into power that could rid us of things like the Patriot Act and actually think about the people by living unlavishly, using their money to benefit the state, and never be corrupted. We have right here a tool that can be used: Myspace. It is powered by corporate minds, no? That doesn't mean we cannot use it to spread our likemindedness and gain power. If you can think outside the box, yet entertain those who put us in there originally, you know the limitations of your enemies and can use them to fix our system. | America might not do badly from it, but there are a few problems...
First off, what would the religion be about? We have freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the only thing I see lacking is being able to keep our property. Second off, is it justified to take lives for a little bit of land? Or even money for that matter? I think not. I for one think that we shouldn't rebel, yet. Once the goverment goes too far however, it may be neccesary. If it even tries to keep all guns away I'm going to get mad. |

| I for one am still convinced that America is ruled by the Patriots and everything that has to do with anything is controlled by them. Thus, if a revolution is started...it's because the Patriots wanted it to happen.

..what? oh yeah... also... And no, America is not ready for a revolution. In order for a revolution to occur, people need to understand what's going on. It's a shame that most Americans are very ignorant. |

| I think people who base their ideas that we need a revolution from watching V for Vendetta need to be kicked.
Revolution doesn't happen in the fantastical way it's portrayed in movies. The innocent aren't just magically safe for the terrorism of radicals. Innocent will die, more likely a greater majority more than those who the radicals might feel need to be killed to evoke change in our society. That movie takes bigger society problems and answers them with a simple, Hollywood answer of blowing things up and somehow subterfuging one's way to getting the head honcho axed. And ugh... MySpace being used as a political tool? I'm steering clear of that statement. Sure, it's well-peopled, but... you know, nevermind. In the end, my thought is that this country does need to undergo some changes, but nothing that a war should be started over. I don't care how much people will argue that violence is the only way to get a point across. Please take a page from Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., and Henry David Thoreau. | While I think the idea of MySpace as a tool to use for changing the world as impossible (most of the people there are just too stupid and immature), I agree with most of what you said Cairoi and the response you got was just retarded.
I don't think we are ready for such a thing to be honest. We are far too divided for such a thing to work. If the government did go too far then people could unite behind the idea of fixing it and it might work, but for right now there is no way it could survive more than a few days. |

avatar of law=WHAT?! The government is what "we" supposedly install to run our government. They represent us, and as such, we SHOULD care because it's our country they are messing up. That kind of thinking is why other countries have a distaste for us. Our constitution makes this country ALL of ours. We all have a right to care. I could've freaked out a lot more. | I would like a revolution of certain aspects of our government those would be the including and related to: outsourcing jobs, pollution, enviromental awareness, equality for big business and small, internet/computer related issues, etc.
Monitoring your phone calls, internet logs, tv channels, etc. matter to everyone even if you are a saint. If you are an opposing side of the government such information could be used to obscure information in a court of law. If the government cannot respect their citizens privacy even when danger is nowhere in the country's way then our governement needs to be changed. I realize the government is attempting to find "the bad guys" but doing so through actions that violates the moral and ethical laws created by we the people is not right. If the government knows everything about you, you have just become property. My two cents. Edit: The conditions needed for a revolution are not present yet but the early signs of unrest and distaste for your government is present in the minds of many American citizens. | You know why it's called a "revolution"? Because it always comes full circle. Revolutions, more often than not, end as they began, with different people in power, but the same structure in place. Most of what you would call "change" is gradual, and it is not "the people" who make changes. Change is affected people with power. "The People" can't do anything. If you think what the PATRIOT ACT entails of spying is new significant-pause then you have a lot to learn. Also, one must note that the people of the United States do in fact live under a heavily elite democracy, where those in power are almost bound to have interests that support elite democracy over popular democracy. |
