I am really exited about this movie, even if it sucks, its worth seeing just for the visuals.

Has anybody read the book?

Okay. So this movie came out Friday. But it's not showing ANYWHERE in my area. Not even at the indie movie theatre. My friends and I have been wanting to see this for awhile and I heard it got reviews. Grrr.

I attended the panel for it at last year's Comic-Con and saw the Philip K. Dick robot before it went missing.

It fielded some questions like Philip K. Dick would, but was somewhat aloof.

A month or so ago, they played the first 27 minutes of it at a local comic book convention. It's pretty sweet.

The that makes me wonder, though, is the scramble suit. It's a constantly changing, morphing suit of different faces and features which disguises the narcotics officers. Wouldn't that be a bit obvious when you see this person coming down the street and you're doing your Substance D and all?

We'll see how they do with all the plot twists. So far the first 27 minutes kicks off pretty well.

I think it's ironic, though. They chose Rory Cochrane, Robert Downey Jr., and Woody Harrelson for this movie, when all three of them have some sort of drug ties in their past.

I saw the movie two weeks ago at our nearest indie theatre. I loved it. Robert Downey jr. was hilarious. I didn't expect it to have as many comedic moments as it did. I just finished the Battle Royale novel so now I have time to read A Scanner Darkly.

Yeah, I forgot to post about seeing it as well. Saw it a couple weeks ago, the day it finally opened in theaters closer to me than 30 miles away.

I thought it was great. So many pieces of it came together and made this masterpiece of a poignant film.

The people behind me, in the theater, wouldn't shut up and at the end exclaimed over and over that there was no story and it didn't make any sense. Fools. These were the same people who throughout the trailers didn't seem to grasp what those movies were about saying things like, "Marie Antonionettina? What the hell?" or thought "Hollywoodland" was a silly made-up name.

Well enough complaining about idiots. I thought A Scanner Darkly was fantastic. I'm sure Philip K. Dick would approve if he could.

Incidentally, I'm currently reading his book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? which was later made into Blade Runner. I've been needing to, and of course wanting to, read Battle Royale, especially since I have both movies and the whole manga series.

I have been seeing a lot of previews for this movie at theaters. Everytime I see it I say "Wow! How do they do that?". Like you said FX even it it sucks it will be worth it by seeing the visuals.

They filmed it first and then rotoscoped it (meaning traced the action).

If you liked the animation, see Waking Life.

I already read Battle Royale. Loved it. =P

Anyway A Scanner Darkly is a comic on one of the shelves in the DC/Marvel Manga. In which I read when I'm on break.
