So, if good, non-believing people are loved by God as well, then why does Hell even exist for them, regardless of the fact that they'd go there anyway?

They don't go to Hell because they don't believe. It has not been claimed by many religious leaders of Christian groups that all people are loved and respected by God. It has been said by all true religious leaders of Christian groups that all people are loved and respected by God. I'm somewhat confused on where you found out that non-believers do not go to hell. If someone told you, they are being ignorant. If you got that from the Bible, you either read it with too much bias or you interpreted it wrong completely. Hell is reserved for those who have completely rejected God and consciously refused all of God's teachings. One who does not believe but lives a reasonable life will not go to hell. One who does not believe but goes on killing sprees and desecrates all that is human will most likely go to hell.
Another way to look at this entire situation is this: A person dies and stands before God for judgement. God gives him one last chance to seek forgiveness. Only if the person refuses does he go to Hell. Granted, this is a very..."lame" method to explain it but i find that it often gets the point across.
Vulcanlogic, i really have no blessed idea where you're pulling all that info from. But since I don't pretend to understand the afterlife, i won't contest it.
Teundusia, just out of mere curiousity and nothing else, if you know what hell is, how could you not be scared of it if it does exist? By the way, your last sentence really confused me.
This question about Hell and non-believers and such has been asked so many times before. In my opinion, people constantly repeat this question, not because they want to know, but because they are trying to find another way to disprove the faith and reveal the corruption and deception that they believe is the Church.

My apologies for any typos and such, for i'm sure they are definitely present. If you wish to challenge anything i've said, feel free to do so, but please do it in a respectful manner. Cheers.

I'm not scared of hell because I do not believe I will go to hell when I die. True I know what hell is shown and said to be, but as I don't believe in it myself I'm not scared of it. In the end it's probably something invented to scare little children into being good...

i honestly do not believe christian parents 'persuade' their children by threatening them with hell. Besides, it doesn't even make sense.

They do? When did this happen?

BTW, you messed up the italics tag. The end tag is the one with the slash, not the opening tag.

i have no idea what you just said about the italics, but just know that whenever someone quotes you, their post will be in all italics as well because of your HTML coding.

also...i seriously hope you're not basing your arguments off of some movie that was made whenever. Movies such as the one you just showed me are fiction.

And also, if people are left on earth during the apocalypse...does that mean they survived the apocalypse or what?

and the movie, while fiction is based on what the christians actually believe, trust me my christian friend is the one who showed it to me...

why can't you close off the italics in the signature?

oh, and you are so not telling me what Christians actually believe because of what your Christian friend told you. Friend, i am Christian too.

I have read the series, and it is a waste of time. John was very symbolic with a lot of waht he siad, and no where in the scriptures do they even mention the rapture. The Left Behind series is lame, and little more than a way to get money.

Well, to be honest, I have additional information. The books of Moses and Abraham(as trnaslated by Joseph Smith, a prophet, in their original unaltered form) reveal much, about many things. Then there is also things that Joseph Smith said as revelation from God. Our current living prophet(who is also a seer) also says this.

Meh, I've explained nearly everything unique about my religion in just this thread, there is a lot more, but not too much.

Vulcan, are you a Christian? I'm not so sure if what you're saying is in line with what Christians actually believe. `

EDIT:

Also, The books of Moses and Abraham...are those supposed to be books rejected at the Council of Nicea? Or are those something else?

A christian, espicially a babtist christian, will say that I am not. I'm a mormon, who have unique ideas about a lot of things, mainly because our prophet gave us more information.

And no, they weren't rejected at said council, though a lot of interesting books were. The books of Moses and Abraham were found by Joseph Smith with the Book of Mormon. The books of Moses and Abraham are refered to as the brass plates, which were stolen from Jerusalem, and placed with the Book of Mormon. Also, there was a lot more to the Book of Mormon and the brass plates that were not translated, as an angel came, and took them from Joseph Smith after he translated a lot.

Meh, I need to start another Mormon thread.

And South Park is definately not a good source for education.

And to True/Kite: I did just looked up Sodom and Gomorrah on wikipedia and I was correct. It's traditionally interpreted that they were punished for be homosexuals.

Religion is just the longest running scam out there, but if some people don't take it at face value and just use it as a guideline for life, then fine.

If you believe non-believers go to a place they don't believe exists, so be it.

But I, as a non-believer don't believe I'm going to a place that hasn't been proven to exist. Hell, I don't even think reincarnation is plausible, but more like a collective memory source between all of us...and that makes it seem like reincarnation is plausible.

I believe in science and imagination...my own.

But, like the Scientology episode, everything they relayed in South Park about the Mormon religion is true. It's a little on the dumb side, but it's true.

You can't keep using that as your argument. That's not the point of debating something. You're not convincing me. You're not providing any kind of proof that I can't contest with something concrete.

Sure, we don't know how the universe was created for sure, but we can speculate. Assertaining that a higher, religious deity created it is only a compromise of intellectual ideals.

Okay, tis about time Cairoi stepped in on this argument and laid out his idealogy bare for all to see.

I'm not going to pretend that I know whether or not God exists, or an afterlife. I don't.

I like to keep an open mind. All religons tend to point to bettering oneself and helping the community. So that's what I do.

When I die, if there is a God, let him judge me. I don't live a life that will merit damnation, I hope, but as long as I live the best way I can, I suppose things will turn out okay.

I hear from multiple sources those that don't believe go to hell or don't. I think it's just in the eyes of the beholder. We'll find out who's right and who is wrong when we're dead. No need shoving dogmatic propoganda down our throats beforehand.
