Seriously. I recently quit my old job, Taco Time, since the bitch of a manager dropped me to 4 hours a week, and I've been looking for a job for the past few months.

Fred Meyers
Alberstons
Spencers
EB Games
Hot Topic
Software ETC
Subway
Multiple gas stations
two web designer companies
Server internship at Harry & David
H&D in general
Angelo's Pizza
Sherm's Thunderbird
Radio Shak
Computer Connections
Harbor Freght

That's just a small list of the places I've been going too. I can't even remember all of them. Hell, I even got turned down by a couple of Temp Agencies! o.O

I really don't know how to get a job anymore. I think it's a sign when Temp Agenices can't even help me o.O

The biggest thing: Knowing someone within a job.

That's how I got mine, even though the guy who recommended me was someone I hardly knew.

But, it takes a lot of time, trust me. It took me over a year to officialy get a job, and I had gone through tons of interviews, applications, calls, and whatnot before I got my real job ... which was like:

Friend: "Hey this is the guy I told you about."
Asst. Manager: "Okay, cool. So, what do you know about cars?"
Me: "Uh ... nothing."
Asst. Manager: "Awesome, the meeting is next Monday at ..."
Me: "Cool."

No joke.

What's your resume (if you have one) look like? Does it reflect that you perhaps are unstable and don't keep jobs very long? If so, that might be why no one is hiring you. Employers look for stability, and if your previous environments reflect that you have quit after working a short time, you might not be winning over new, potential employers.

Also, reasons for leaving employments should always be positively phrased, never negative.

Something like, "Lack of opportunities for advancement", "conflict with school/work schedule", "changing career", "found better career opportunities". Never do the hated employer, dropped in hours so left, or anything like that.

It also depends on your skills and how you sell yourself during the interview. How well you're dressed. It's always best to be told you have to dress down rather than dress up for an interview.

Hell, if you were anywhere near the gaming companies, I'd say go into QA testing. There are many companies looking to pull in a few contract employees, often starting in the $10 to $12/hour range.

Create a resume of whatever you have, and post it on Monster.com (if you're over 18), and wait for a few offers to come in. Doesn't hurt to keep an updated resume online.

Well, I dont get paid over the table, I make 17.50 an hour working with my dad...Building houses and such....

No taxes taken away, and yet, I still put money into retirement...

How did I GET that job? Easy, my dad owns "Dale Hall Construction"...major buisness in the state of Georgia...

When I worked at Waffle house, My manager laid me off because I was then "Over Qualified" for a promotion...He said he can work me as a door corp working twice a week, but I would rather work my ass off with father than stand around all day buffing tables making 6.70 an hour...

If I were you, I would go for the connections, either that, or be persisant as I was and bug the hell out of the manager, letting him know you will work your ass off...Managers like that kind of attitude

I'm going through the same problem. I need money. Like, really bad.
I'm currently looking around. Kaijin, just try some restaurants and see if they need bus boys or whatever. It's not a hard job, and you make decent money with tips.

I'm just the opposite. I've got many offers, but I'm not taking most because they don't pay what I'd like to make. If I could just pass them on to you, I would.

QA Tester for a J2ME company at $12.00/hour plus stock options.
QA Tester at Disney Internet Group at $12.50/hour.
QA Lead at Disney Internet Group at $16.00/hour.
QA Tester for a BREW company at $40,000 a year.
QA Tester at Sony Pictures Mobile at $12.00/hour.
QA Tester at Activision for $10.00/hour.
QA Tester at Vivendi Universal for $10.00/hour.

I'm holding out for the $40K job. I currently make about $10.50/hour with EA Mobile.

I try.

You need stuff. I guess. I don't know. Maybe it's not your time. Go play games. I get paid for playing games. Kind of.

My sister's doing the same thing. Have you tried going into a small town and asked a small business if they needed help? I did that and I got my first actual job there.

All I really did to get my job was go there everyday and ask if they looked over my application yet, and talk and joke to them and stuff like that. You know, make them realize I'm a cool employee.

'Tis true. I am older, and I do have more work experience that makes me desirable to other companies. I also have stable work experience (i.e., not leaving jobs after a few months for whatever reasons). We all go through slow periods.

Too bad you dont live in Georgia. The hired mexicans left my father and he was in need of help....untill some friends of his and I came along that is...

Working under the sun is hard work, but has its benefits.

1: You get a Tan

2: You get paid a shitload

3: Have a GF? Watch her squeel when she sees you worked all day...

4: Uhh...cant think of a 4th

And it does has its downs...

1: Lifting heavy objects all the time can get you a hernia...My dad has a Double Hernia and he still works *Woahs*

2: At the moment im a light brown...but my dad looks black. and I think he has skin cancer

3: It can be dangerous...Bean shot his leg with a nail gun....I dont want to explain why

4: once again...I cant think of that 4th one....

Anyways, have you found a new job yet? Or are you still leading me in suspence?

I am way too young to even get a job, but most people I know got their job by knowing somebody that works there. If that doesn't work find a new place just opening up and apply there.

Wow. I love your concept of "rich". I'd never work in the food industry, but that's just me.

I basically have got two offers going that I can take. I'm forcing one company to give me their final decision by Monday, or I'm taking Sony's offer. So, we'll see on Monday. Otherwise, I'll be at the other company.

In the long run, Sony's offer is just better.
