| Usually these people are supposed to be your family, but I've distanced myself from them my entire life. I haven't done this on purpose buut under circumstance it's happened. And I hate to say it, but they let it happen. I'm not blaming them solely, but we both have equal part.
As we all no, your parents have control over you until you're 18. I'm struggling with this, like most people do. What do you do when the people who don't really know you have control of your life, and are keeping you from the people who do now you? I know I sound like some bitter teenager, but I'd just like to know, if anyone is in my situation, how do you deal with it? |

| Look, no solution I can come up with can completly rectify what's happened to you. I don't know you all personally.
However, here's what I suggest. If you really think your parents don't know who you are, tell them. I know that a lot of teens distance themselves from their parents, and that's bad, regardless of how much you don't like them. Sit down with them and spill your heart, instead of turning your back and deciding their the enemy. Don't try and soften it up for them, because they're adults. If they come to respect your word because you speak it to them unfiltered, then they will be fair. Just don't speak to them degenerately. That's the worst thing you can do. |

| I'd say try talking to them... catch them in a good mood so they might actually listen. If nothing changes, or if they get worse, then you could always try becoming an emancipated minor. The problem with that is that then you would need to find a way to support yourself.
Personally, I'd haul off and ask your dad where he was when you actually needed him; but I am sure that would most likely not go over well. |

| 18 isn't the end of the tunnel, sorry to say.
The controlling ends when you finally move out  ; Past that, if you can talk to them about an agreement, then you'll be set, past that, look forward to one very dark time living with your parents.

| Well, I took Elara's advice. The mother that I thought I hated has turned out to be the most undrestanding women I've ever met. She completely understands teh situation and has agreed that I need certain people in my life. I guess this thread can be closed.
