...in the park, minding my own business playing on the RAZR, when a man steps out from the bushes across from me. He's carrying a knife, and running towards me yelling something in Russian about the mafia or mob or something, and next thing I know, I'm standing next to my lifeless body. Fascinated by the oozing of the blood from the sixteen stab wounds, and watching as my cell phone game of Tetris is slowly being lost. Huh. Wait.

I realize I'm not dressed in my usual clothing. No, that stayed behind. The man frantically searches my pockets, but finding nothing, runs off with my cell phone. I catch up to him, running scared and frantic clutching my cell phone, and tap him on the shoulder in an effort to, "um, excuse me?", but instead he falls to the ground impaling himself on his own knife and launches my cell phone ten yards away from him.

I stand, over my cell phone, watching the Tetris game blocks fall. Behind me, there are police and witnesses, all spouting little bits and pieces of information relating to the stabbing. A few minutes later, a county coroner shows up. He stares at my body. Then he stares in my general direction and starts walking over. We are standing face to face, but he's changed his gaze to my cell phone. "Robbery, looks like," he shouts back, and picks up the phone in tweezers and places it in an evidence bag.

"But, that's my phone," I start to say reaching out and hitting his chest. He falls like a sack of potatoes on the pavement, my phone flying into the grassy area near the jogger's path. I try to pick it up, but can't. And, I can't seem to understand why not. The game is still going, but it hasn't filled up the screen just yet. A call comes in, momentarily suspending my game. It goes to voicemail. It was only the office anyway. I'm saved Tetris defeat by a phone call.

A policeman appears next to me, staring at the evidence bag. He kneels down to pick up the bag, but I swat his hand away. Another policewoman appears, running towards the fallen policeman. She stands over him, staring at my cell phone. "The phone is killing people!", she shouts at her fellow officers. The phone is killing people? Is that what happened to me?

A perimeter is set up around my cell phone, in its evidence bag. The low-battery warning starts going off. No, I need to charge my phone, dammit. I walk over to where my backpack had been resting next to the bench. A chalk outline and yellow police tape surrounds the bench. My backpack sits inside a coroner's van, it's contents spread out on a table. I find the solar charger, but can't move it. Yet, I am fascinated again. I can write in blood. Awesome!

In my own blood, I write on an examiner's report in the van, "Plug in the solar charger to the phone...it's dying."

I walk back to the cell phone. That's it, I'll get someone's attention. I tap the shoulder of an examiner, and point towards the van. He immediately falls next to me. Dammit. My cell phone is killing people again.

So, I sit next to my puddle on the bench. The low battery warning going off in the background. An officer yells from inside the van. Another officer runs out carrying my paper and the solar charger. They're talking about Death writing notes to them; that the people dying around them are all results of not charging the cell phone. Pish posh.

They pick up the evidence bag, and carefully remove the phone. It glistens in the sunlight, and place it on the ground in the jogger's path connected to the solar charger. It beeps once, and starts to charge. Excellent!

I run up to the officers, extending a hand in congratulations, but as I touch the officer holding the note something occurs to me. He falls through me, and I realize that I have become Death. A sinister smile sweeps across my face.

My eyes refocus. I'm staring at the bush again, my cell phone in my hand, the Russian guy lying motionless in the bushes. A dark figure hovers about him, and then takes a seat next to me.

He touches my arm, and I turn towards him. He has no face. Just a deep darkness under that hood, his scythe resting on the bench. A couple of joggers pass us. My phone plays the ending tune. I lose at Tetris.

"What you have seen today," he starts, his voice as dark as the depths of space, "will be your calling when it is your time. Today will not be your time. You are far too reckless."

He pulls out a tablet PC, and shows me a list of names and paperwork attachments.

"In a matter of twenty minutes, you created so much paperwork and mayhem that the head office decided to rid you of your ranking and return you to life," he taps a command and all the documents reset, "it's only a cell phone."

I stare at him and hold up my phone, "But, it's a RAZR." If he had eyes, I'm sure he would have rolled them. He pats my shoulder and stands up, turning towards me once more.

"When it is your time, you will be assigned to deliverance of hard criminals, mobsters, mafia, and the like. Till then, don't play with your RAZR in the park." He and the soul of the mobster disappear in a cloud of smoke. I close the flip on my phone, and slide it into a pocket, gather my backpack, and start walking up the path. Figures start to appear all around me, all wearing the reaper uniform and carrying varying degrees of scythes. They stare at me as I walk.

I removed my cell phone, and a reaper appears in front of me. He shakes his head. I shake mine, and put the phone away. He's gone. I stand in the middle of the jogger's path, throw my arms up into the sky and yell, "IT'S JUST A RAZR!".

The previous reaper appears behind me, "No, it's not. Go home."

I sigh and mope, "Fine."

That is funny, and I can sadly see one of us doing that. Oh well, at least you have the actual scythe at home, huh Zabuza?

Hmn, how appropriate. Actually, I think it would be cool to write a story about becoming Death, it would be neat.

I felt like using the word neat, so sue me.

I think we could film this on some weekend. Use the Zoso, Rogue, Oni, WhiteRose and other peoples. I got my new digital camcorder, so it should take long. We don't even need to full coroner's van and stuff. I still have a certain uniform, so we could use that in its place, and my Alcatraz shirt could dub as a coroner's thingy. And, I have sidewalk chalk.
