Bring Your Own Big Wheel (BYOBW) is an annual Big Wheel race down Lombard Street, San Francisco’s famous crooked street. Now in its 6th year, BYOBW takes place this Easter Sunday, April 16th. Here’s a video by CTP and some photos by robot138.com of previous races.

BYOBW

Yeah, I think we'll make the trip next year and take the drive down in Big Wheels. I would so love to do that again...last time I rode a big wheel, I think I was 8.

I must do this.

Must... race... big wheel.

If you make the trip to go do this I'm coming along.

Now I just need to find a big weel that'll survive me. At least for one trip down the hill.

Holy crap, this is something we would do down here. Except replace big wheel with piece of plywood lubed with parafin wax on the bottom.

I'd definitly do this, but to enter San Francisco without a class-5 smug suit would be suicide.

I totally want to do this, though. Race down crookedest street in SF, or try to organize something down our steep Hill St. in Signal Hill/Long Beach area over here. That would be awesome. Of course, we'd probably have an easier time doing it down here since Hill St. is mostly unoccupied for a large portion of the day.

I do ask that you spread the word about this. Post this video in message boards everywhere (you can find the links on YouTube by clicking anywhere inside the video screen), in your blog (if possible), and just tell people. I would love to see a lot more people next year if we go.

I hope this event picks up stream, because a lot of people down here would do it. Seriously.

SF is on the west coast.

You're missing the point here. No sponsors. No guns. No contact event.

Just trying to get down the hill without destroying your big wheel.

But, whatever.

I'm aware of that. That was sarcasm.

I still would ride the big wheel, though. But knowing me, I'd fall off and road rash about five feet before hitting something hard and perhaps sharp.

Ouch.

Big Wheel domination!

Well, maybe fall before running into a spectator or wall. No streetlights down that street that you could run into.

I'd aim for a bystander...but that's just me.

You didn't realize that little kids have protective powers?

That's why I hold onto Sammy's hand when we're walking anywhere.

Now that's just evil... Although it's just a big wheel, so it would be pretty funny.

I'm going. As soon as I can I'm going. Hell, I'll bring spare bigweels just so I can get down the hill, and do it a few times. Maybe I'll make my own.
