I've just been getting curious to ask this since I'm getting to possibly be around this situation myself.

Who here lives on their own? (I mean it could be with friends or something, but I basically mean outside of your house, away from your parents).

Prolly not until after college. Only because I consider being "on your own" to mean relying on yourself. Even if you're living with friends and all, people mess up and whether it's your fault or not, if something goes wrong, you're in a situation where you have to handle it. So I still consider that being on your own.

So, yeah, next year I'll be living on campus, but that's not really on my own. I've worked hard enough to have my way through college paid in scholarships...but...what about food, and basic stuff like shampoo, deoderant...stuff like that? Odds are I'll still have family helping me in one way or another.

As far as having adults involved and taking care of every little thing for me...I grew out of that real fast. Something I still credit the people who raised me for though, because they're the ones who taught me how to be self-sufficient without neglecting me completely.

I have been living by myself for some time being. Roughly when my dad HAS to spend the entire weekend away and my mother does the same. If it is vacation, I have to take care of myself and work by myself...

Basically, I still live in my parent's house but half of the time, I really take care of myself while they are away, either working or else. Would that count?

Also, I am going to campus next year.

I'm moving into the CSU dorms... I need to get away from my house. It's getting too full. I want to live on my own but I guess I'll be sticking with he house til then. Then I'll have a roommate.

I've lived in a dorm since the school year started. I have a good relationship with my parent's but I really like being away from home. It's a very liberating experience.

I don't live with parents either. It's not as glorious as it sounds.

Not only do you have to be creative in your cooking, but it means you mom isn't there to clean up after you.

Freedom?

Seticus: I'm kind of the same way. There's a lot of nights where I've had to be around the house to watch my sister, because both of my parents are out. This past year they don't care if I stick around anymore since my sister is older, and doesn't mind being home alone though. I usually end up always cooking, or eating out every day of the week. Maybe once a week or so, my parents will cook for the family, if not it's either fast food or microwave food.

That, and since I work while my parents are working or aren't when I get home, we hardly see each other.

I'm lucky to have a nice mom though who still does laundry.

I can and have a lot in the past when a lot of my clothes build up, but for the most part she does all the laundry.

OMG I can so relate with you on that. XD It's because of the fact that my parents are in the shed at least half of the day and the other half their either at work or sleeping.

Unfortunately for me I'm still stuck at home, though venomouslobster and I are planning on getting our own place in a year or two once we both have steady jobs and I'm nearly done with school. Pockets might be joining us in helping with the rent. Yay!

... though I have a sneaky suspicion that I will get stuck doing all the cleaning.

I don't live on my own.

But the house I live in technically is mine in 2-3 years.
