I was wondering, for those who have a PS3 on reserve. What are you going to do with your old Ps2? Are you going to pawn it? Are you going to keep because it reminds you of "good times"? I don't have one on reserve I just want to know what people will do.

I'm going to buy (and keep) a PS2, only because I want the myriad of awesome RPGs that came out on it. Oh; and God of War.

Depends on the extent of backwards compatibility.

If the memory units used are compatible with PS2 and PS1 savedata, I'm giving it to my cousin - he got PS2 games for his birthday and got no PS2.

If they aren't, I'm not even bothering with a PS3 for a while, but when I do get one I'm keeping the PS2.

I'm pretty sure it's actually been confirmed the PS3 will be using Memory Sticks, over Memory Cards and old PSX and PS2 cards will NOT be compatible.

Which really disappoints me honestly. But they suggest you'll be able to transfer files over a computer or something, but still ... it's just a hassle.

So, for playing PSX and PS2 games, it might just be useful to hold on to the PS2.

I said savedata - I don't care if I have to start over as long as it can save the data from the games and do standard memory card (or in this case, memory stick) management functions on PS1 and PS2 data.

Once I get my PS3 I wont need a PS2 anymore. So ill get rid of it. I will either trade it into Gamestop so they can rip the hell outta me, or give it to one of my cousins.

I've been known to hold on to my old stuff. I had the very first Playstation when it came out and then I handed it over to one of my friends. She turned out to be psycho, but I had that thing for like three years after I got a PSX. XD

I dont keep anything, once a new system comes out I get rid of the old ones. Especially with the Playstations, I didnt see a use for a PSX when a PS2 could play its games. Same goes for PS3.

I have two PSX games that will not work on a PS 2 (MK Trilogy, Final Fantasy Anthology), this in turn forced me to keep my PSX. Of course I've kept all my systems except my Atari 2600 (which just pretty much died not long after purchase), and if I get a George Foreman grill........ err PS 3, I don't plan on getting rid of my PS 2, because again there could be games that aren't backward compatible.

TAKE THEM BOTH APART AND CREATE A MASSIVE PS4 VERSION OF TOTAL AWESOMENESS AND POWER!!

No, I'm gonna wait a few months for Sony to suck so hard on the PS3 before I get one. Wait for a couple generations on that sucker...kind of like I did for the PS2 and the PS1.

Yeah usually the first generation of a new system has problems, PS 2 had issues at the beginning, perhaps X-Box did as well, and 360 had issues right at the start, after awhile companies learn from their mistakes and improve the product.

Yeah, I know. I tested XBOX 360 before it was released, and we were having so much fun with crashing the system. It was awesome. We knew that system was going to have problems months before it was released. And for those two months, I was god with my friends for I had seen and touched an XBOX 360.
