Among other reasons, this is the number one reason why I want to import my Prius. The American one doesn't park itself. The European and Asian Prii park themselves. I want a European or Japanese one, dammit.

The German Prius has options to trick it out for the Autobahn, including 18-inch allow tires and a turbo hybrid engine. I'd want that, with self-parking, on an American roadway.

For your pure enjoyment, funny Toyota commercials:

How come we don't get cars like these:

And the funniest ones by far:

While that car has just shown me a new light in the computer-y power of automobiles, I hope in the next two years that becomes a standard feature due to it's overall usefullness. I mean, a car that shiny with that much tricked out AI deserves to be the hubub.

As far as I've heard from Toyota, the self-parking technology will not be reaching American consumers until at least the year 2015. Their studies have shown that Americans are afraid of cars that park themselves, while Prii everywhere else except North America contain the self-park technology.

It's not fake, it's an actual feature that exists in the overseas model of the vehicle. Along with the electric-only button that US models aren't allowed to have. Because our oil industry thrives on gas guzzlers, the US just hasn't jumped on the bandwagon yet. Stupid country.

Check the website for pricing in your area.
http://www.toyota.com/prius

It's about $21,000 USD.

O.O ;;;

Something to improve my parallel parking skills..."Look Ma` No Hands!

Thats something the rich people might do, wave their hands out the window while screaming, "OMFG This car is parking by itself!!!"

I would so do that...

Lol, I remember when you told me about this in Theory of Personality class back in LBCC (I miss our hot psych teacher). I thought it was so cool then, now after seeing the video, I think so even more. I could so make use of that since my parallel parking is horrible.

I miss our project and our teacher. We must find a copy of that theory and work on it!

I want my Prius even more now, but I'm shooting for 2015 now.

Looks pretty cool to me. Though I personally am not interested. That's just because I'm crazy. I enjoy driving very much. Even parallel parking. So yeah...It would be a waste of my money.

But it's not a waste of money! It's a gasoline/electric hybrid! It saves money! Less gas per month. On average, you're looking at saving at least $1500 per year in gas alone. It also doesn't need oil changes as often because it doesn't use the gasoline engine all the time. And premium everything in the car including GPS, voice-activated stuff, 6-disc in-dash CD changer with 9 speakers in 7 locations, keyless entry and start, and it's a Prius!

Self-parking is just one of those things that comes as a novelty for people that can't park their car. It doesn't only parallel park either, it reverse parks the car for you. And, has an option so that the valet can have the car reverse park itself, just in case they can't do it well either!

I mean, saying that the Prius is a waste of money just based on the fact that all the other vehicles everywhere except the US park themselves is just plain ignorance.

P.S., I'm a Prius enthusiast...can you tell?

If its a hybrid, im all up for it. Its about damn time something of this technology came into public thats better on gas, cleaner, and better for the environment!

Seen how I love in GA, it wont be coming to my area anytime soon...even if it DOES come out in 2015, I prolly wont touch one till 2030

It's already out. Toyota Prius has been out in the US since 1998. The second generation Toyota Prius has been out since 2004. The parking mechanism probably won't hit the US until 2010 to abot 2015.

Get with the times, man.

There is only one full hybrid out for consumer purchase:

The Toyota Prius (2003 - Present)

Half hybrids:

The Toyota Prius (1997 - 2003)
The Honda Accord Hybrid (all year models)

Electric assist models:

The Honda Civic Hybrid (all year models)
The Ford Escape Hybrid (all year models)

Still, out of all those, Prius is the best choice as far as having a full hybrid is concerned. Japanese tech at its best.

Dude...Georgia?

The latest thing Ive heard that has benefited the world lately is the fact that...

"Sarah Kolb Murdered someone...and Bush says were addicted to oil...."

thats...about....it....

WTVM ( Our local news station ) always talks about "How diebetic plans for type-4 patients may benefit your family!"

Or...

"And now we introduce a new 450 HP John Deer Tractor that will blah blah blah..."

Honestly, around here, I never seen one...people dont talk about them much here...

I sound like an old man....

"Sounds like something the japanese made...they never make anything that works..."

I think he hates me...

The Prius is lame, I want a Skyline even if I DO have to park it myself.

As for those commercials I liked the Lake Monster one best, utter hilarity!

Find anything that your dad loves, and do a little research. Bet you the Japanese probably made it, and it'll work better than anything American can produce. That is, if American even makes anything solely in the US anymore.

My Ford? Made in US, assembled in Mexico. It's crap.
