I've got several people who I look up to, mostly for different aspects of life. Sometimes they're real people and sometimes fictitious.
So who do you hero-worship? Fa Mu Lan (Mulan): Though it's been disputed that she's just a legend, she was the woman warrior who stole her father's armor and went to war in his stead. She, while posing as a man, rose to command an ever-growing army and eventually saved her country from the barbarians. What the Disney movie doesn't show you is that she fell in love with one of her captains (who knew she was a woman) and gave birth to her son in the midst of a battle, then she and the father rode out into the battle, umbilical cord tied to their banner and kicked the living shit out of the other army. |

I have a lot of heroes actually. Some of them are people that the odds of ever meeting are extremely slim, but most of them are very real, ordinary people, just like us here.
What I mean by the "unordinary" people are people like Steven Speilberg and George Lucas (as much as I like Star Wars, that is not the only reason why Lucas is among those I admire.) I've just always been interested in their career paths and they've just been people that I look up to as far as my own choices of a career. Other than that, it's real people. I have a ginormous amount of respect and admiration for my religion teacher, sister Eileen, as well as many other people. She's just the most recent to be added to the list. My "heroes" are the people that I care about what they think of me. No, not in an insecure sense where it's like "Oh, I want these people to like me because I have to fit in." Bullcrap. :p If I care about what someone thinks, it's because there's something about them that appeals to me personally about them and that there's something in there that I truly want to be for myself and if they're frowning at me over something, then maybe I'm not living up to par with what I want to be. As usual, I went into my long tangents. But This is a subject that I do not take lightly...but at the same time, it doesn't take all that much to be my hero. You don't have to have X-ray vision or be able to jump tall buildings. :p |

I look up to a fictional character...Solid Snake
To me, Snake was a man to be reckognized as a man who fought for what he believed in. In Metal Gear Solid: The Twin snakes, Snake was just following orders to what Colonal Cambel told him to do. Untill he met Meryl, a figure that was in his way that felt that love would just slow you down, and soon the more he learned about her; he began to develop strengths that motivated him to live... Untill he met his best friend in the middle of battle...Gray Fox "Were not tools of the goverment, or anyone else...Fighting was the only thing...the ONLY thing I was good at..." At that time he learned that everyone should fight for what they believe in, and pass their genes to the next generation for a better and brighter future... In Metal Gear Solid 2: He joined the orginization "Philanthropy" for he wanted a brighter future without Metal Gear: A cause that will develop into nuclear wars... And now, I look up to him now more than ever, When I saw in the trailer for MGS4, I knew that Snake was still fighting, regardedless of the fact that hes extremely old, fatigued, but still kicking ass... Hideo Kojima stated something about him that brought tears to my eyes... "I made this game for everyone who feel that were in extremely hard times, This game helps point out to my viewers that 'Hey, Snake is that old, but hes still fighting'! " That quote there made me stronger...I wanted to be like Snake because I want to fight for what I believe in, I want to fight for the ones I Love...even the ones that loath me...Im fighting for all of those bitches and bastards. Im fighting for salvation within myself, because I have done some stupid things in my life, hell we all have, but at least by fighting I can prove to everyone that I am still here, and im here to make a greater cause for this world... Edit: Something was wrong with the HTML coding when I made the spoiler tag...I might edit this alot Edit 2: Ok this is retarded...something is wrong with the spoiler tags, it fucks up my layout pretty bad... I have no hero in the term of personal idol. The only person I respect as a true hero would be my father, for reasons I won't disclose on the board.
Want to know why I can't have a hero? Because I worship no one. I only find my dreams, my aspriations, my mannerisms, my religon, from my own personal discovery. My only goal is to live a life where I make sure myself and those around me are happy. And with that, I'll hopefully show the next generation not to put hopes in past idols, but to carve their own path. I only need myself, and although I love humanity and it's flaws, I don't want to worship it. So, have me as your hero or don't. But I'm not going to idolize anyone anymore. |

My personal hero is Jesus Christ. Not just because he die upon a cross to save me from my sins, but because throughout his entire life, He was constantly challenged by the devil. I am inspired by the fact that He went through so much and never gave in to the temptations that were placed before him.
I did not make this post with plans to spread my faith. I am simply telling yall, just like everyone else who posted here, about my peersonal hero. |

Fappy, because he's a fat little kitty that quickly adapted to being indoors and outdoors and being traumatized by my cell phone.
Zoso, because he's Zoso. Rogue, because she's so independently not the norm. And, she has Zoso. Laiga, Zabuza, Iruka, and Kakashi for various different reasons. Big Gay Stitch, because he's my pillow and my carpool buddy. Whitey, cuz he's a dog. In conclusion, it's mostly me at the moment, but that's an Elara answer, so I guess no one then. |

My hero, outside of my dad, is probably Vash the Stampede. He always wants to help, and hates seeing people in pain, which is basically my phlosophy on life. |

I have to ask: Is it bad if you can't think of anyone? There's nobody out in the world that you'd say is your "hero" or even a someone of that stature?
Really, I'll get asked this question randomly in school polls, and whatnot, and I never have a specific answer. I just don't have one I guess ... (Last edited by Xeomega on 02-16-06 12:45 AM) |

The only hero I have ever had was my father. I -always- looked up to him. More so than any other person. He was so intriguing, so intelligent... he was the only person I ever seemed to have intelligent conversation with, other than my grandmother, his mom. Intelligent conversation with, meaning not debating. He spoke to me as an equal, even though I was only about 13 of 14.
When he lied on a bed, dying, while I was alone with him, we held hands, and with tears in our eyes, he said "Well, Candy, it doesn't look like your hero is going to make it..." (Last edited by Belial on 02-16-06 01:53 AM) |

I don't have a hero. I never have really. I figured if I never had a hero no one could let me down. There are people in my life who mean a lot to me, but I don't put them above myself because I like to think that I'm my own hero.

My very first hero was Peter Pan. When I was little I always thought I would be able to fly if I wore green. The next hero of mine was Chucky (yep the killer doll). I use to try to hurt people when I was little, turned into a little psycho. Then I wanted to be like Spider-Man. Spider-Man is probably my all time favorite super hero, just like the comic book says, he is amazing. I've always been a fan of pro wrestling so I always looked up to Hulk Hogan, but Hogan was only wrestling half of his career in "my time". When Stone Cold Steve Austin started wrestling in the WWF in 1996, he became my hero. Now that I'm an adult I try to be a hero when it comes to kids looking up to me. I don't want to be a bad role model, the world is corrupt as it is. If I were to say I had a hero right now, it would be Dave Chappelle. The man is the, yes "the" best comedian alive. He has sold out so many DVDs, his show was off the charts, and he really set the standards for comedy. I don't know if anyone has watched his interviews on Bravo or even Opera had one, about why he left the Chappelle show, but I think he has his priorities in the right place and he's still have fun with life. So those are my heroes or role models.

I see having a hero as looking at someone whose actions or life have inspired me. You don't worship them like gods, per se, but you see what they have accomplished and you find meaning within it.
I see Frida Kahlo as a hero, because she was a talented, Mexican, woman artist, who lived a life of pain and agony because she was stricken with polio as a child and had an accident, as a teenagers, that practically crippled her, but she strived through her own will-power and creativity. Though she had a challenging marriage to world-renowned Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, she remained strong and made a name for herself rather than be known as "the wife of Diego Rivera." Anyone can be a hero. All those who triumph over adversity in some way have earned the title of hero. |
