HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, HAWAII – Adrian Greene died Saturday, May 21st, just one day after seeing Episode III of the Star Wars saga, Revenge of the Sith. He was only nine years old. The movie, which opened Thursday, May 19th, breaking box office records and raking in at least $50 million in its first day, tells the story of how Anakin Skywalker falls into lava during a climactic duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi. Burned and missing his arms and legs, Anakin is given robotic limbs and the classic Darth Vader outfit—essentially a walking life-support system.

James Greene sobbed, clutching his wife, Kathryn, as they spoke briefly with reporters. “He was such a good boy. He—he really loved the movie. All of them. Even The Phantom Menace.”

The Greene family was in Hawaii on vacation. Back home in Iowa, the boy’s bedroom is still decorated with Darth Vader posters and action figures. According to his mom, Adrian loved all things Star Wars, but was drawn to the villainous Sith Lord most of all. But sadly for Adrian, Darth Vader’s survival and mechanical transformation are more science fiction than fact. Real lava burns at more than 2,100°F (1,140°C); even the air near lava flows is often in excess of 120°F (49°C). Touching it is ill-advised.

According to investigators, the Greene family was hiking in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Along with other tourists, they made their way to the remote area where lava from Mount Kilauea is currently visible, about three miles from the nearest ranger station. The Greene family trekked across the rocky landscape, and were taking pictures when Adrian suddenly turned and told his parents he wanted to be “just like Darth Vader.”

After flashing a smile, the boy darted across the steaming black rocks and leapt into a glowing, oozing stream of lava. Adrian screamed just once as he burst into flames, then vanished in a plume of smoke. His parents ran after him but found no sign of the boy. Tourists nearby helped them search, and finally accompanied them back to the ranger station to report the incident.

Ranger Steve Wilson said it wasn’t the first death at the park. “In 1993, one tourist died when a section of rock collapsed. Another guy has been missing since May 1998, when he disappeared in a flume cloud. Yeah, it’s dangerous out here. But this thing with the kid is pretty weird, that’s for sure.”

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was established in 1916 and covers a sprawling 333,000 acres ranging from sea level to the summit of earth’s most massive volcano, Mauna Loa, at 13,677 feet. Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano, has been erupting since 1983. Surface flows are common, although most of the lava travels through lava tubes until it reaches the ocean.

Revenge of the Sith director George Lucas had no comment. The parents of Adrian Greene said that no, it wasn't too early to speculate on whether or not they might file a criminal lawsuit against the billionaire Star Wars creator.

So what does everyone think about that??

WHAT THE HELL?!

Who brings their child to LAVA?!

This is...this is WRONG, on so many levels!

If they file a criminal lawsuit, they deserve to be slapped. Sure their boy did it to emulate Darth Vadar, but who raises a child that thinks jumping into lava is a good idea? Jeebus, you stupid parents, tell your kids that these things are FAKE. And besides, why didn't they stop the boy as they watched him DART TO THE LAVA?!

Godamn stupid people.

Wow...just...

<.<...wow....

I cant exactly say that the boy was stupid, think about this:

When you are at that point of age and you were raised on science fiction movies, you would...PROBIBLY do the same thing...but maybe not as bad as jumping into the pit of Lava...

I take it the boy was not raised enough on the matter between life & death as well as the difference of the two coexzisting science fiction movies...

He diddnt feel anything...

A nine year old kid would not do this simply because of age. I would know, I have a six year old brother, and a ten year old sister. Neither would do something that stupid.

Anyway, they couldn't legally sue George Lucas, as that child wasn't even supposed to be allowed in to see it anyway. In fact, George Lucas said in several interviews not to let children see it.

Hmmm...I never heard anything like that, usualy the Viewers guide (PG, PG-13, R rated stuff) would do all the talking...but then again I dont exactly know for sure if he did actually say that...

But its a science fiction movie...fir for kids, teens, and imaginative adults....

I was actually laughing when I read this part, and you know kids are suseptibal to influence all around them. This kid was clearly influenced by Star Wars and didn't know if you jumped into lava you burn. What I don't understand is why would people bother looking for the kid. He blew up in flames.

Well If you DO sue and get somthng out of it they could be rich for life. Anyway George might just give them the money if they ask nicly he has plenty to spare...

I am sorry to hear about the kid, I would think he would have realized that it would have hurt and that should have stopped him in it's self... DON'T TOUCH THE STOVE BECAUSE IT BURNS!!!

I seriously LOL'd when you said that part...what can they do, pull an evangelion and send Eva unit 01 in a magma pool of lava to only find ashes of burnt remains that are evaporating? Gimmie a break...

My favourite part of that article was:

'James Greene sobbed, clutching his wife, Kathryn, as they spoke briefly with reporters. “He was such a good boy. He—he really loved the movie. All of them. Even The Phantom Menace.”'

It made me chuckle.

Why does this article come from a website called the "Washington Obfuscator"? Does anyone know what that means? I do. To obfuscate is to confuse, so why would it be from a site called the Washington Confuser?

Did you happen to realize that it's impossible to find this story anywhere else on the internet? I'm having a huge difficulty believing that any of this is true. With the proximity of heat from lava, that kid couldn't have even had the nerve to get that close. Let alone the fact that most national parks won't allow tourists anywhere near live lava flows without proper park ranger supervision, if that.

I'd check your facts before posting something like this.

So, as a form of wonderful satire, how could you possibly expect anyone (except for people of my calibur) to believe this garbage (pronounce gahr-bahj).

I dont think he would have screamed...and also, if he turned to his parents to say..."Hey Momma, look at me, im going to be just like darth vader!"...

Wouldent you think his mother would have grabbed him and done something about it? Its hard to believe you just LET your child jump into a pool of lava and then freak out...

I agree with Zabuza...but it was still funny though

Hm...it's possible that Hobo did happen to know it was fake. Which is the sole reason why he posted the article. To see who would believe it, or something. Just going out on a limb here.

Who knows.

Precisely, I had already known it was fake, the bottum of the site had a warning and hell the name of the site itself is obvious that most stuff on that site is false.

If it was true, you'd hear about it in the news

It's still freakin' hilarious
