I thought it might be helpful to post something like this on here. Expressing my ideas as well as other people's so that way you wont get some emo dude on here saying. "Oh woe is me, my life sucks, how can I handle this stress thats just overtaken my life"?

Well, post your ways you handle stress here...Ill post mine

1: if something terriable has happend and you are either stressed/ angry, its always helpful to work out. This causes your body to induce a chemical into your bloodstreem to help calm your nervs within your brain and focus more on the energy your using to work out.

2: After doing that it really helps to breathe slowly. Personally I breathe in through my nose, hold my breath for seven seconds, then breathe out very slowly. Doing this repeatingly will allow your body to induce itself on the same chemical used to help you sleep at night. it will calm your nervs as well as your mind.

3: Talk to somebody. Dont let anything out on what happend. If you keep that memory to yourself it will just bottle up from within you and cause you to be stressed even more...im sure you dont want to repeat steps 1 or 2...

I find this routine helpful...if you have ideas post them up here!

I think to handle stress is that you should play something where you BLOW UP STUFF!!! Maybe some games like Rachet and Clank, Burn Out ( hit car and crash em, watch em blow up), and etc. To me that helps alot. Just go play and game and get lost in you world.

I'll play my keyboard for hours on end, focusing on either some Dream theater song (the Take The Time opening solo is really fun) or Revolutionary Etude. Sometimes I draw, that's usually out of boredom though. More recently I play Gradius 3(I know it as the hardest game in the world) so that I have something legitimate to be mad at, and forget about whatever was troubling me. I'll read when I see a book near me, sometimes Air and Space magazine or the Bible. Listening to Pantera and other brutal music comforts me too.

I don't handle stress, I channel stress. That's one of the reasons why I have an LJ. I vent. I transform the neg into positive. I shoot people in videogames. I exercise. Or, I yell at people in traffic.

There's not much to stress management. When you've worked in positions that generate a high stress environment, you learn to just deal with it and move on. Or, bottle it up and move on. Or, do something stupid, get in deep shit, be arrested, then move on.

I haven't done the last part yet, and I don't plan on ever doing it. Though, I have come close.

Ah, GTA.

i have a program that is called stress relief. what it dose is it freezes your screen and opens a window with certin "tools" in it. simply select a tool such as a hammer or flamethrower and bash or tourch your screen! its really fun especially if your mad at your computer. it will "crack" your screen but it will all go away when you close the program. its really handy.

is a lot of BOOM and SMASHES...

My other stress reliver is kicking the wall witch usually hurts my foot.

Hmm... well, I have a few ways that I deal with stress:

1) Listen to angry metal music. It helps relieve my agressions by playing air guitar.

2) Ranting in LJ... oh gods this helps. Private entries are godly!

3) Meditation. Picture yourself sitting by the edge of a river in a forest. Hear the birds and the water, feel the grass. See images of what comes to mind emerging from your head in little bubbles (school building for school things, people's faces, computers, etc). Watch as these thought bubbles drift into the water and vanish beneath it's surface, completely gone. Do this until nothing comes to mind (about 5 minutes usually). Best done before sleeping.

4) Videogames where you kill things

5) Talking to someone.

6) Breating. Mine is simular to Sajin's, I got it out of a elemental magick book. It's supposed to connect you to the element of earth, so it has a grounding influence. You breath in for 4 seconds, hold it for 4 more, breath out for another 4, and then wait 4 seconds before repeating the cycle.

I was in Barnes and Nobile the other day reading about that...I forgot what the book was called but it was something like "Basic alchemincal elements of nature" or something like that...It sounded really interesting up untill the point I read by the author...but thats buside the point. (I tend to do that, my bad)

I always found that prayer and meditation work really way. (they're the same thing to me). I like Elara's list. I've been really stressed out lately and have found that sleeping is the best temporary solution, but again it's temporary.

"Work really Way?" ::Laughes:: I kid I kid, I know what you mean...

Hmm...Praying helps, but to me its not the same because if im meditating, im thinking of nothing and relaxing. If im praying, im usually relaxed when im talking to God...you know...basic stuff when praying.

I also know that alot of people have different looks on praying, but thats just me.

Lol..that was a bad typo...oh well

I guess I agree about the whole meditate/prayer thing. When I meditate I try not to think about anything, but sometimes it turns into me really thinking about something, and then it turns into prayer. o.O

well I liked number 3, sajin, for the first 2 that might be hard for most to focus there energy on calming down.

I actually do have a bad habbit and I am one of those people who bottle up and blow up later when I am by myself.Which I know is the wrong thing to do

I usually dont talk and am very silent person, when I am angry, nervous, upset, I start to draw or play video games.

I think really the best way to handle stress is to do what you like to do best.
some like to hang with friends

some play games
some do other stuff it all depends what our favorite thing is to do that we can get lost in.

I used to really, really lose my temper over the stupidest shit. Then I started going to church and somehow..my relationship with God taught me that I can just let things go and the world will not end. =D It's fun.

Hmm...to be honest, I don't handle stress very well. Sometimes I do, and others...yeah. Like I when I was younger I was either extremely open with certain people, and only those people, or I was quiet with others. Then when I was about 10 or so, I became just the opposite that I am now. I wouldn't talk to ANYBODY about ANYTHING that bothered me. I would just keep it bottled up inside, tried acting tough, and all that kinda stuff. I kept to myself and the only time people saw that I had problems was when it was the kind of situation where it needed to be handled right then and there. I mean if someone tried beating me up, the only shot you get is the one you took when you threw the first punch.

Then, right around when I turned 15, I just couldn't handle it anymore and broke I guess. Then I was open about anything and everything. Now I'm like...open, but I don't care if anyone listens or not actually. The second I vent, response or not, it lifts a heavy burden and I feel much better.

So I guess that's how I handle stress...but like I said. I don't handle it well. I've tried other things like you guys mentioned, but like...when I'm stressed, I'm not calm about it. I freak out.

I think me and you have alot in common katana, I mean I did bottle it up aswell and really I dont talk to anyway, so I vented online or forums like this, i never told anyone around me what went on n my head it was usually through aim. one time I got really mad at him and I couldnt even say anything to him I just smiled and walked away and later that night he imd me on aim and I got mad and only is like a time for people to be open and to be them self more so I was kinda mean toh im and he wasnt use to this anger I had so I think I scared him.

thats why its so hard for me to show anger around others because I end hurting there feelings or making them scared so I tend to just realease my anger/emotions later. If I have a crush on someone they would know some how because I can control my emotions but I have troubles letting it out a bit so when I say something its all real and I tend to scare them so I rather just stay silent, I like how things are that way it helps me alot with situations, being calm is what I do, im always calm, very soft voice, I mean when im on the phone with a friend I get very hyper if I havent heard from them away so I get this energy and I get overly happy and stuff.

usually I feel bad alot because like all my friends have aim so when I get on, 20 people or more message me so I like have to click out of aim I get overly annoyed easily and alot of people dont realize it but I do, a slight little thing can annoy me so when people im me like crazy not even for chit chat just to try to show me something or have me make them something it really annoys the crap out of me.

I see what you mean with the being annoyed/anger thing. I get annoyed and ticked off pretty easily too. I also relate to the ranting on forums and stuff. It does help actually. Cuz like yeah, you don't know everyone and they all don't know you and all your friends and stuff, so as long as you're honest, then other's opinions are pretty much as objectvie as they can get and there's no one else persuading them to see something that isn't true anyway. That and I used to have a really big issue with being able to look people in the eye once I told them something personal...here you don't have to worry about that.

I guess we do have quite a bit in common though. I have changed a bit though. After a while being all quiet and reserved all the time just took it's toll on me. So now I'm

a) really chatty when I'm nervous/shy about something or
b) really chatty with people that I'm comfortable with
