To me, class rings are a huge waste of money. Im planning on getting my class rings while im in college, reason why is because by the time I get into college, my finger will be larger than it was when I bought it in high school, and not to mention it may look better.
I wouldent want to represent Harris County on my finger... |

i never really understood the concept of class rings. i mean, you get the choose the designs and all that, so how can it be special for your school? i guess it would've been better if the school, or at least private schools, would provide the same right to ever senior for graduation. that way, all the rings would look the same so you can tell who went to what school or whatnot. but then again, public schools are poor.
anyways, yeah, dont really get class rings. i guess only jocks and ppl into sports or school stuff buys'em, cause no one else does =/ |

I wasn't planning on getting my class ring. I wanted to wait to college to get mine, but my mother was so proud of me graduating, she insisted in buying me one. I got the traditional looking one, with a pheonix on one side and knowledge is power on the other. The stone is blue and within the stone is a drawing of a parchment and quill and on the inside of the ring is my full name written in handwritting.
Overall I'm happy with it I guess, enough to where is everyday anyways. |

I wasn't too thrilled with getting a class ring either, and my mom was telling me she'd like me to get one.
First off, $500 for a ring that isn't an engagement or wedding ring is insane. I suppose they're good if you're in an exclusive school like Harvey Mudd, Harvard, or whatever or you just won the Super Bowl, but I'm just not into them. For my mom, I looked through the designs, but most of them just looked really tacky or gawdy, like the only people who it'd be acceptable to see wearing them would be rap stars with gold-plated teeth. Anyway, they didn't have designs for any of the things I was really into in high school--no symbol for the school newspaper, no symbol for the theater department, and no symbol for the environmental club. They had random unicorns, lamps with flames coming out, etc, but nothing really tying to me. Everytime my mom asked me about getting one, I just pretended I forgot to look though the catalog and tabulate the price. |

$200 is a waste of money, rings that aren't engagement or wedding are a waste of money unless they are something that you should be proud of such as the super bowl.
If I wanted to dish out $200 for an item of my choosing...I'd probably upgrade the RAM on my computer from 512mb to 2Gb |

Whats the point of having a class ring? I know it looks like cool and pretty, but I think its a waste of money. If I was rich I still would not plan on getting one.

I got a class ring. For not as much as people think it was. And it's nice too. Got a dragon for mom and a bald eagle for dad. My mom told me it's my senior year and I should milk it for all its worth. So I chose the cheapest place I can get my ring. It's not even real silver. Gold's too show off for me. That and silver.

Again, bumped a bit...but hey! Some interesting topics came about while I was inactive!
They do senior pictures and class rings at the end of junior year in my high school. It actually makes things a lot easier that way. I didn't order mine through the school though. The prices were insane! and though they were pretty, I got mine from Walmart and it's just as pretty and it came to a grand total of $130.00. To me, that is still a lot of money. However, it's still a bit special to me because my family insisted that I had one, I got it around my birthday, so a bunch of them chipped in for it as a birthday present. So yeah, that's the real reason why it's important to me. And for people that say they there's no point because you change and it might not fit forever anyway...well, if you honestly see no other reason in getting one anyway, then that's fine. But for other people...**shrugs** Well like in my case, even if it doesn't fit anymore, I could always wear it around a chain or something, or pass it down to either my kids, grandkids, or someone else really important to me. |
