Ok, I have absolutely no idea where to post this, but I was thinking of looking into the Wiccan Religion. I would like some sites or some books with veritable information on the religion, and the entrance into witchcraft. Whether it be how to channel the energy or anything like that. I am serious about this, and I'm not just looking into so I can learn how to have a "Better sex life Through Religion."

Also, I am looking for the Book of Shadows.

I reccomend books more than I reccomend websites, just because information seems to be more valid that way. Books I would suggest reading dep ends on path you wish to take. There are many traditions, whether it be Fairy, Dragon, etc. I found that I am into a Nocturnal, Celtic Dragon path. If you're into the nocturnal magick, read books by Konstantinos. He's got a beginner's book, Nocturnal Witchcraft and the sequel to it, Gothic Grimoire. Both are excellant books, I own them both.

As for the Book of Shadows, each witch has their own BoS. It is basically an accumulative written book, written in a journal or something similar, of spells, meditations, information on herbs, myths, dreams, or anything else you feel should go into it.

As for finding others ways of learning, I found several very experienced people whom were kind enough to teach me anything I did not know, if it didn't endager them or anything. Having an instructor/teacher is very helpful in many ways.

This is a big desicion. It's not to be taken lightly, you know. You need to take into consideration many factors. This can and will directly affect your life. Being Wicca isn't just doing the rituals and whatnot. You have to believe it, as well as practice it. Also realize, that Neopaganism is frowned upon my the masses, and it can mean a lifetime of persection and negativity towards you once (if) you decide to come out of the "broom closet". Gowever, if you are truely serious and know full well the ramifications of this choice, I can help you out.
Check out some stuff by Cunningham. After you get a Wiccan 101 book or two, you may wanna check out Hiscock for some more advanced stuff. Also, PM Elara for some info. That's what I did. Here are a few sites I got info on.

Controverscial.com
Religioustolerance.org
You can PM me, too, if you want. I'll always be happy to lend a helping hand.

Yes, as Clockworkz says.

Don't get into a religion just because it sounds interesting. You may think Wiccan sounds like the best religion for you, but take into account all factors.

I've desperatly wanted something to believe in for some time now. But I'm waiting until I find the right one.

Wiccan could be the right one for you, but it also might not be. Good luck on your spiritual journeys.

There is also LadyoftheEarth.com for some useful information.

Scott Cunningham is an excellent author to check out for beginners, I recommended him to Clockworkz. Gerina Dunwich has proved a good read as well, but she also tends toward the Dianic sect of Wicca (usually geared towards more female Wiccans).

It is indeed a big decision to make, so be sure to read many sources because Wicca is one of the most ecclectic religions there is, with different people choosing different patron dieties and whatnot. Find the path that works best for you and go from there.

But yes, feel free to PM me if you want any further information.

I've been curious of Wiccan and Druid faiths, actually. I wouldn't mind attending a class at Eye of the Cat just to learn more about them.

I can most assuredly say I have had an encounter with magickal energy recently.

I was meditating in my room, which was kept at a cool 50 some degrees, and concentrated on my inner energy. I placed my hands about two inches apart, because it just seemed natural to do so. And after a short amount of time, my hands suddenly seemed to be hit with a heat, equivalent to putting them over a fireplace. I felt the heat on my face, and after my meditation wa completed, I opened my eyes, and there was no sign of anything that would have caused this heat, and my hands were hardly warm. It was...strange.

Interesting... Apparently, you must have centered and grounded, and sensed the energy of something. DId you visualize anything?

As much as some people hate it. I read some of Raven silverwolf. Her Teen Witch book was real easy to understand for me. Hard to hide but easy to understand. Scott Cunningham is real good too. I like some of his works. I also have a candle magick book by D.J. Conway. It's just candle stuff so it's not much use though. I don't have many candles in my house than I thought there was. XD

To be honest I'm more of a skeptic on thse things right here. I really don't believe that... even though I myself was attacked once while meditating (just pm me if you want to know more). The body is a strange thing. Mine is always hot and cold off and on. I get out of class and I'm freezing cold and just standing up I'm as hot as a fried egg.

Silver Ravenwolf is her name actually. I prefer Raven Grimassi.

Anywho, a fun meditation excercise to do before going to sleep:

Visualize yourself near a pond, river, ocean,etc... you choose. Make it as real as you can to your senses. Keeping that in mind image, let your thoughts flow through your mind and come to you natually. Find a way to make each thought visable and envision it in a thought bubble leaving your mind, floating into the water, and vanishing under the surface. This is an excellent way to clear your mind of things that have been bothering you and helps you go into a deeper meditative trance.

If other images come to mind that seem important, write them down in a journal. Dream Journals are also useful things to work with.

Heh. I wonder why a lot of people of wiccan faith bond with ravens. I honestly cannot stand them. Ravens and crows are just so freaking... ugh.

My mum went by "Moon Raven."

Sorry for the off-topic rant, just caught my eye that those authors had "raven" in their name. *shudders* Ugh.

Oddly enough, that can easily be explained without magic, as it has happened to several other people I know of.

What you felt was your energy body. I have another experiement for you, that can at many times make me feel like that.

Hold out your hands like you're holding a soccerball. Then, because your hands are empty, strongly visualize this ball. Make yourself feel it almost. It will not feel exactly like it, but your hands will feel weird, and some people have their hands heat up because of that.

Now, keeping the soccer ball in mind, make your hands just about two feet away. Now, visualize it bouncing from one arm, to the other. While you might not feel heat, you may feel something

__________________________

Like I said, some people have felt heat like that, and some have felt heat durin meditation. It is your astral body. I will not inform you how, as it can easily lead to becoming possesed if you are goind into the wiccan religion, but that allows you to project your soul out of your body.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT do this, or experiment with astral projection if you are doing the wiccan religion. I don't know why, but it is more common for people doing witchcraft to get possesed easier than other people.

Also, if you follow the path of Astral Projection, then there are also things like remote veiwing(my brother and mom have done it, and it worked). But, it is your choice, and doing both will have you lose control of yourself.

I trained under scott cunningham for a short time before he passed away. He has written a great deal of books and I feel he was more intuned and natural. Silverwolf was great in her clearifcations but I think in my personal opinion that she glamarized a lot of the public side of things. Grimassi is a bit blunt and cold in my opinion there needs to be a bit more heart in it. There are a great deal of books out there.

I grew up with a lot of religion around me and had to learn for myself. With a lot of extensive in mormans, roman catholic, both old and new testament study and baptized twice. Jewish back ground from the grandparents and dad is a baha'i which is rather old as well. You have to remember knowlege is power and about the 700's was when it was started to be called heresy. christains fear what is unknown.. well most humans are like this but christian's made it bold point to see to that something amongst their people did something about it. If you study you'll find that druidism was also among that same group.

I've left out a lot of information due to the fact that this would turn into a very long post and I dont want to do a debate. I have been resisting posting on this one for a while because I have a lot of opinions on it the subjects of religeon

If you're interested in wicca then check into druidism because they're the balance of the each other. wicca is to do with the female side of the world and the sway of the moon which is called the goddess... where as the druid is with the earth who is concidered the male or better known as the god pan.. and I'm rambling sorry.. below is a link that will give an over all of both

Clockz I visualized the color red, and thought of other colors, but red was the only one which gave a reaction. I ran through all of the colors I could think of, which symbolize an element, and red seemed to draw a heat out from the inside of me. It was really strange.

I'll be sure to try that meditation tech tonight Elara.

True, I know that strange things like that have happened before, but it was just very different for me to experience as i am usually a completly rational thinker. And it was even stranger the the heat dispersed at the same time I opened my eyes.

Murdock, I already am into Wiccan, but Druidism seems interesting, but I am not inclined to enter into it, Wiccan seems more me. And I know male witches, and I am sure there are female druids.

I've read this several times and I'm fascinated with the Wiccan religion. But I have a question. Would it be possible to use one spell, like one that changes eye color, to change hair color or vice versa.

I don't think that physical manipulation is possible. Spells deal with energy from yourself, and from the earrth and the Lady and Lord. The fact that a spell can change your eye/hair color is questionable, at best. Where did you hear this info, Jity?

The lady of the Earth site. There is a Spell under the Spell category that can change eye color. I have yet to test it though.

It would be more of an illusion spell rather than anything physical. I know a kid who tried it , but couldn't get it right, because he was new to Wicca. Things like this take practice. Invisibility works the same. If you meet a not so gullible person, they can see through most spells like your eyes changing colors.

I've just never seen a spell cast that has had a result. To my sarcastic mind, it seems like it's all a bunch of internal mumbo-jumbo. Here's a REALLY stupid example:

You're casting a spell that has a natural effect (to be happier, something internal, something to do with nature that isn't giant), and your mind takes on the pleibo effect, making it seem like your spell really worked, when it's really just your mind's immagination.

Maybe I only have this sarcastic point of view because my mum was Wiccan, and her and her friends had this spell-casting whatever crap. Oh yeah. The "Circle." It just doesn't seem to be a very... realistic religion. I like the idea of being so in touch with nature and stuff, but all the spell-casting crap just makes it seem not worth-while.

Vulkar, that is basically energy channeling... and I've never been possesed or any such thing while doing it; and I've been a Wiccan for nearly seven years.

I tend to think that the illusion spells don't work... of course I tend to not do regular spellwork. I perfer energy channeling, it just works better for me.
