Okay. Transgenderism... Transexualism.. Call it what you want..
I want to get some honest feed back from you guys. Do you consider someone who has had the complete sex chage that sex? Would you take someone who has had sex change surgery? I'l answer both.. I consider someone the sex they were born with.. Even if their physical body does not represent that. I know a girl who is like this.. I fully consider her a girl in every way. As for dating someone who is transgender. If I wasn't already involved with someone, I don't see why not... |

I've known a few people who have had the surgery done and yes, I do consider them whatever sex they mentally believe themselves to be. I don't see what the big fuckin' deal is with some people.
Hell, I know a few drag queens, personally, that I regularly forget are male and constantly call "she" and "her" and so on. On a side note, one of my favorite films of all time is "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" (glam rocker has a botched sex change operation, thus "the angry inch," though that's also what she decided to name her band) and even though I know Hedwig is really played by a man in drag, I always refer to Hedwig as a "she." Also I think this would be an excellent thread for Debate. If you don't mind Jin, I'd like to move it there for a better fit. *moves thread* |

Well, I personally see nothing wrong with it at all. We had a transgender come talk to us in my human sexuality class, and to be honest I could not tell that he used to be female at all... I was kinda shocked to learn he had been, I mean it was that hard to tell. I see them as they see themselves, and that is my stance.
Would I date one? Yeah sure. Might be a bit odd if they haven't had the full proceedure yet, but again I don't really care either way. |

I'm not sure why, But gender is such a NON issue with me. At all.
As long as they're the same person... who really cares? Your physical body isn't who you are. |

I agree with Deesse... There's a guy at my school who dresses up like a girl, where's fake boobs, and got angry when the choir teacher wouldn't let her wear a dress during a performance. All I have to say about this one is that she's very rude and such a conceited person.. argh. If I dislike her, it's not because she's not really a guy.
Usually I call them by the gender they're dressed up as... it makes things easier. Some people call the person at my school "it" and such because they don't know whether to call her a she or a he.. (Last edited by Belial on 05-15-05 12:50 PM) |
