I feel like crap today. I just found out one of my friends whom I've known for 6 years is getting a divorce. She's been married for 8 years. They have a 3 year old girl together. And he's been cheating on her for 6 years.

It's things like this that make me even MORE jaded. I've seen so many people go through divorce. I've been through a divorce (I'm still dealing with it actually). I know lots of people who get divorces. It's stuff like this that makes me completely jaded & cynical.

My point for starting the thread?

How can I be there for her right now? (I live in CA, she lives in SC).

What is your take on divorce?

**hugs** To be honest, I have never gone through a divorce. Never been married, and my parents never stayed together long enough. They dated in June, my mom got pregnant with me in August, and he left her a week later. Though my mom was with him before that, he left her, then when I came alone. He left her. And then she did it once more. So her own stupid fault.

There are few people in my family happily married, or that have been happily married for a while. The others just aren't married, or got divorced before I was born. Same with my friends. I can cound on my one hand how many of them have married parents, but they never lived through a divorce either, if that makes any sense.

I guess to comfort her, just be there for her as you would for anything. The most that I could give advice on is about the baby. My life story is not having my mom and dad like each other even, let alone be together, yet I still would see both of them.

My mom needed to divorce my sperm donor. Believe me he did. But here's my take on divorce:

You do what you need to do to get by, and so if you need to divorce then you have to do it. In my case, my mom needed to divorce that man. He wasn't worth her time after the three of us were born. But she kept staying on into it. Then my mom said enough.

After that I met Randy my new dad. He's awesome, and I just got adopted by him. Meaning it is now legally impossible for him to get rid of me.

My mom and that man divorced when I was 5 and my sis was 3 meaning my bro was 9.

The legal way of looking at things like these is that divorce is way more expensive than marriage.

I am sorry but you dont marry somone and then Dump them for some stupid bimbo with no morals....My parents are divorced and i was pissed but i got over the it due to the fact that my mom is a prostitute soi was glad when i moved back here to caly

Divorce is always a trying thing for children especially if they are young and they dont understand whats going on..BUt teenagers get it the worst for some reason...alot of teenagers think it is their fault but it is not...It is their parents decision....

Now dont take me wrong...if you are getting beat by your husband dump his ass and move on...its not healthy for you and your children if you have any....

You should marry someone you cant live without not someone you can live with.

Wow, I am so sorry for her... all 6 years? That has got to hurt.

Just do what you can to comfort her, let her rant, and just be a good friend. The only divorce in my family that I've been around for was my sisters... and that one was just ugly because of the custody battles. Hopefully she won't have to deal with that.
