I just acquired a new XONIX 128MB MP3 Watch. Yes, watch. And, I'm impressed with the sound qualities and features. It only cost me $80 on eBay, and my previous data watch only did just that...hold data. This one at least holds data (my literary works for now), my music, and ability to record and playback voice.

Built-in USB Cable (1.1 only), with a replacement cable in case I break it again (hopefully not) and oddly amazing sound. I'm hearing things I didn't hear before from my CD player, the MP3 player in Windows, or anywhere else. My music sounds newer to me with little nuances that I never experienced before. While I thought that having an MP3 watch initially was a stupid idea, I now stand corrected. Coolest idea so far. The batteries (one lithium ion for the mp3 player, another nickel metal hydride for the watch) work independently of each other, and are both recharged when I plug the watch into a computer through the USB port.

Not bad for a little player with capability for voice recording/playback, USB storage device, and MP3 player...and it still tells time. A little bulky, and a little heavier than a standard watch, but I'm not one to have standard watches ever. Just thought I'd share.

Screen doesn't change, you figure out what song you're playing by listening to it...maybe you should try that sometime. Anyway, I use it to transport my writings, my hackerware, and my MP3s. Occasionally some voice files that I picked up from spying on coworkers for evidence, but nothing more.

It has LEDs all around it, and five equalizer modes (Normal, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Classical). I still haven't figured out what order it's playing my songs in since it's never in the order that I upload them. And, I'm sure the random setting isn't on.

Calm down, Zabuza.

MY question is reasonable, since with many songs it is impossible to tell what the song is unless you waste like a minute listening, since some songs sound similar, and some fade in. Also, many live songs just have a lot of applause at the beginning, so you have to wait a while for the band to start.

I guess it's a neat idea, but 80MG isn't really much and I would feel kind of pompous and show offy.

128 MB.

80 Dollars.

Dyslexia has taken ahold of your reading. I'm not brooding. I'm not bragging. I'm sharing. There is a difference. While I did not excel at sharing during the earlier years of my life, I at least try to make up for that now. I have no need nor desire to carry around large amounts of music. That's what the laptop and CDs are for.

I have no need nor desire to listen to anything that I cannot remotely recognize within the first few seconds...that would defeat my musical talents honed over fourteen years of violin playing. Anyway, as with anything in life, to each his/her own. This is my musical/data storage device that also happens to tell the time, and fit entirely on my wrist, and your musical whatever is your taste-fitting device.

But much like I said before, even with the few live recordings I have (I don't like live music), I can still figure out what I'm listening to simply by listening to it...often in the first few seconds with no need to waste a minute or so listening. And, if I didn't want to hear it anyway, why would it be wasting space on my musical storage/playing device in the first place?

Another note: you created what's called a mega-gig, which to date, doesn't exist at the commercial level. Specifically, 80 Megagigs, which would greatly dwarf any consumer MP3 player on the planet. Due to the proximity of the "G" key to the desired "B" key, I'll dismiss the typographical error as just that...a typo. Or, an error. Same difference, correct?

And, this isn't merely my only motivation to feel superior to everyone...it's not. I just feel that way by default and it has nothing to do with anything material that I own. It's all mental for me.

Well then I guess you would do us all (or at least me) a favor by KEEPING that smug superiority mental. It was an honest mixup, you don't have to spend paragraphs explaining yourself. I'll be sure to check myself before I go up against your massive intellect again.

So far, I've seen them online, they're available from BMW with the purchase of a car, I think at Fry's on the west coast, and maybe some electronic stores later on. On another note, I'll be sure to continue doing what I've been doing in thinking of my superiority to be strictly mental. I'm off to wash the car now...

Although, if you remember, when we were looking at stuff, I did suggest it. But, if you'd rather carry more than just 128 MB of files, it's best to go with other MP3 players than with the watch. I just like my watches to do more than just tell time. Tis all.

Of course, you can also buy mp3 players that play thousands of songs and have a built in clock.

It's a neat gadget, but I wouldn't want one. It's just one of those random technology combinations that I don't find appealing. Like the Oakley Thump. Which is sunglasses with a built in Mp3 player.

Oh no, now the Oakley Thump is just stupid because it won't always be sunny when you want to listen to your MP3s. And, yes, while there are MP3 players that have a time function, they're not the same as watches with built-in MP3 players.

Just admit, you're jealous...

Anyway, I can't listen to the MP3s while I'm at work since I need my ears for what I do, but I at least have them readily available for other times when I'm out and about (or for you canadians, oot and aboot.)

I have heard of these watches before but I always blew them off because I thought the sound quality would suck. I would still suggest an apple of a dell of some sort. but if you listen to not a whole lot of music I think this is a great idea.
