Saw Olympus Has Fallen, and totally agree with Katana on that one. Though I would add that every time we were like, "But that wouldn't happen in real life...," it was followed by, "...wait... there are people that stupid... nevermind, it's plausible."
Then saw Jurassic Park in IMAX 3D... it was great. Did it hold up 100% in the format? Not really... the animatronics were a bit more obvious with things like the triceratops or the raptors... but it was still awesome. And the T-Rex still owns that screen! Those glasses make my head hurt like a bitch, though. |

Star Trek - The Next Generation: The Best of Both Worlds
A special for the release of season three of the series on blu ray, with all digitally remastered footage. It was fucking AMAZING!! I need hundreds of dollars so that I can get the series on blu ray, I really do! And the bloopers for the season that they showed! Oh for the days when Whoopi Goldberg was funny! |

Funny how I'm really digging into TNG now, I'll have to check that out sometime when I can and get caught up.
It's hilarious how Whoopie's character came on and... I didn't know for sure if it was her or not, but kind of had a feeling. I went around IMDB earlier during an episode to check out the actor pages and yep, I guess that's her. Freaking hilarious... lol. |

Discovered yesterday we were getting free HBO and Epix on-demand (but only for yesterday), so I just kept watching movies up until midnight when the deal kicked out and it said I needed a subscription to continue.
I watched Magic Mike, Moonrise Kingdom, Election (which now I feel like I've wasted time watching since I'd already seen it many times, but years ago), and most of Young Adult. Obviously, Moonrise Kingdom was the best, but Magic Mike wasn't that far off (and I don't say that simply for the male strippers). MM was like watching The Wrestler with it being about pretty much being a piece of meat for others' entertainment and having to piece the rest of your life together. |

Went with friends from work to see Epic... it was pretty typical for a Pixar movie but overall I enjoyed it. I honestly think that the character voiced by Aziz Ansari stole the movie.

Originally posted by Elara You said it, not me. I just finished reading Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and started watching the movie last night. I only made it through the first 20 minutes before I went to bed, but it was pretty decent. Like most movies based on books it's left out chunks of story and embellished in other places to make up for the things that don't quite translate to the screen. Since Brandon's watching it with me, and he's going to work soon, probably won't get to watch the rest until tonight. |

Saw Metallica's 3D movie, Through the Never, last night in IMAX. Lars Ulrich was there, since we were in Norwalk, and he commented how the band was formed around the corner, where the 105 is now.
The movie was awesome. They played it loud and it was really like watching one of their concerts. The story about the roadie trying to carry out an errand was all abstract, and while people complained I thought it was fine. It was like an extended music video, and those never, ever have to make sense. Anyway, here's them on Colbert, getting intro'd by a Jesuit priest. Fucking metal. If it autoplays on you, I apologize. I've tried editing the code, but it's just not working. Depends on what browser you have and how good your ad-block is. (Last edited by Rogue on 09-28-13 12:51 PM) |

All right, so I ended up watching Thor: The Dark World, through a bad bootleg online.
Overall the movie was quite watchable. Parts of it were amusing enough to make buying a ticket worth it. Yeah, I'll see it in theaters, eventually. |

Saw Catching Fire twice Thanksgiving week. In terms of having to maintain the continuity of the first movie and how well it reflected its source material, it was mostly perfect. (Last edited by Rogue on 12-12-13 02:12 AM) |

I didn't care for the first, but the second was quite good.

Originally posted by FX I definitely see where you're coming from with the first one. I only liked it because, well, it's all we had. Catching Fire made it look like absolute crap, though. |

I'm still irked that they're making Mockingjay into two movies, though.

Rewatched Jurassic Park on Blu-Ray the other day. Still probably my favorite movie up there with Star Wars OT.

That was so amazing in IMAX 3D. My third favorite 3D movie, actually.

I hate that I missed it.
Do you have an Alamo Drafthouse? I don't know if that's a local thing only here or not, but it seems pretty cool... think they play a lot of classics sometimes. No idea about 3D though. I think it's funny how conflicted fans are over 2-3. I'm in the crew that likes 2 and thinks 3 was terrible, but no denying the city stuff at the end of 2 was hilariously bad. Overall I like it, but still nowhere near the level of perfection that the first movie is. For whatever reason JP's ending almost always brings me to tears haha. It must be the scenery, but them flying over the water in the helicopter, watching the birds fly by, the music, the sunset... chills. |

We don't, but San Francisco has plenty of cool arthouse theaters. I particularly love the Castro Theater. I go there all the time, great place. |
