| Get ready for a rant.
The Hostess snack cake corporation is liquidating its assets in light of the bakers union that works for them being on strike. THIS IS ALL OVER FACEBOOK, YELP, AND JUST ABOUT EVERY OTHER PLACE I CAN SEE PEOPLE POSTING WITH JUNK FOOD FANS LAMENTING OVER TWINKIES AND SHIT. In the mean time Israel has invaded the Gaza Strip. I never got to visit the Gaza Strip (not that I would REALLY have wanted to, especially since I was supposed to be in Ashdod the day they happened to be rocket-bombing it), but I've been to the West Bank and I've been exposed to Israeli bitterness when it's come to the Palestinians and vice versa. I really just wish this could all be sorted out without the bloodshed.  |

| Apparently Hostess and the bakers cut a deal. Sucks to be those people who paid $400 for a few boxes of Ho-Hos.
Anyway, Stitch and I watched a protest in downtown L.A. yesterday where a bunch of Muslims had Broadway closed down to pray in the middle of the street and had a blood donation area set up. A cease fire is being discussed with Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey stepping in to try to get this all to stop. |

But like everyone else has pretty much been saying, yes, its been exceedingly annoying to see that everything was about hostess and making Twinkie jokes. Twinkies taste like shit anyway. But For the people who use social networking a billion times a day on useless shit anyway, they could have afforded more time on not just the hostess bullshit, but other issues as well. |

| I think that this can actually be bigger news than we realize. Yeah, probably not as big as the whole Gaza strip thing, but let's just consider it for a moment...
Twinkies, one of the staples of American culture and unhealthy snack foods, a tradition that's been referenced in movies, TV shows, and books repetedly, is going out of business. Yeah, you can say, who cares? I for one don't like twinkies, they just aren't that great. But let's look at the implications of this. If such a big company is going down, how many other companies are in danger? It's not about the twinkies, it's about how America's economy is slowly dropping. It bothers me though, because just looking at this, Hostess was trying hard to rebuil itself, trying to make do with just some layoffs or pay cuts. Heck, the top four executives of the company dropped their pay for the year to $1. But then unions started complaining, the employees went on strike because they didn't want these cuts, etc etc. So then Hostess had to go bankrupt. So yeah, maybe not as big as some of the international news, but to have such a big symbol in America disappear has some scary implications for our future. |

I don't even remember the last time I had a Twinkie or any Hostess related thing. 
Needless to say, this doesn't bother me one bit. Though, I guess I can also say that I sadly haven't really heard anything about those attacks other than on here, even though I'd definitely be concerned with that before a sponge-cake-thing's demise. |
