Not all of them. I've actually worked for one that was generally decent - Sheetz. However, I'm reasonably sure that the majority of their treatment of their employees wasn't about benevolence, simply a different strategy.

So, yes, most of them are run by dicks. I'm glad we're on the same page here!

So no. Sorry. I think you just have beef with Sony over videogames and you just dont want to admit it.

And you're welcome to your opinion, factually inaccurate though it may be.

Hey! Someone from Bethesda just passed away. Quick! Raise the price on skyrim so we can get a massive profit!

Either way, Sony apologized about the error and surprise surprise, wasn't being dicks about it and immediately corrected it. Meanwhile, the rest of the world continued to purchase her songs from none other than iTunes and Napster.

False equivalency, decidedly less famous person, etc.

Well, yeah, they got caught. If they didn't, it'd be a PR nightmare.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world continued to purchase her songs from none other than iTunes and Napster.

Relevance?

Actually, don't answer that. You're hopeless.

Hopeless? You are seriously having no second thoughts that maybe, just maybe, this was clearly a mistake? And that it wasn't because "They got caught" but perhaps it's unrealistic to change the price on a product 30 minutes after the death of a singer at 2 in the fucking morning?

Thex, I think you are the one who is hopeless. Get real.

Had to cut the last one short since I was waiting for work. But, fine, you still want to argue?

Tell me this, then:

Why else would a company increase the price by sixty-one percent?

No company would be stupid enough to increase the price that much unless they had reason to believe the demand was there. If it were a smaller increase, say, from eight dollars to nine, I might actually be willing to concede the possibility of an innocent fuckup - but this was five dollars on an eight dollar item.

That's not an innocent fuckup.

But you can keep sticking your fingers in your ears and telling yourself it is if that helps you sleep at night.

If I was sticking fingers in my ears this conversation would have ended six posts ago Thex.

Coincidence comes to mind?

I still stand by this arguement. And you can continue to call Sony a dick even after they immediately corrected themselves

But you know, I'll play your game, and here is my counter-point.

No company would be stupid enough to increase the price that much unless they had reason to believe the demand was there.

You're right. And as I have said previously. Sony has apologized about the matter and corrected it. But you want to know the -real- reason why the price was high?

Let's convert US Dollars to UK Dollars.

$1.00 in the USA is about 0.631 Pounds.

HOLY SHIT THEX. THAT LOOKS LIKE 61%

When the price in the UK was made for Whitney Houston's album. The price in the USA was mistakenly risen to that of the UK's and immedietly after this was discovered. It was corrected. Which, this isn't the first time this has happened with iTunes and even Napster.

A simple Gosdamn mistake that i'm sure even you would do Thex

Whitney Houston product was mistakenly mispriced on the U.K. iTunes store on Sunday,” The New York Times reported a statement by Sony as saying. “When discovered, the mistake was immediately corrected. We apologize for any offense caused

But here is the real meat and potatoes here Thex: Which I am sure you failed to research:

The Times spoke with Sony executives who asked to remain anonymous, but chalked the mistake up to a "Sony employee in Britain" who made the error without their consent.

Interesting. Then I'll have to concede the point.

However, I do have to question why they have the prices for both handled in such a way as to make that mistake possible. Less "asshole" and more "inept", though. Guess Hanlon's Razor strikes again.

|| EDIT: Wait a second, why were they even fucking around with the prices then, if nothing was supposed to change? ||

Still, moving on, because I have one more thing to say.

But here is the real meat and potatoes here Thex: Which I am sure you failed to research:

That they say something doesn't make it true, even if in this case it may have been. Standard routine for almost everyone in the event of a major fuckup, corporate lackey or otherwise, is to find someone else to blame. Especially if your income relies on it.

Whelp. I guess I'll agree to disagree. I mean we have different thoughts on the matter.

I apologize if I seem asshole-ish. I just like to think two sides on a story before I can really judge.

Again, sorry.

|| EDIT: Wait a second, why were they even fucking around with the prices then, if nothing was supposed to change?

You got me here. But the folks in the UK (Who wishes to remain anonymous) didn't want to talk about it. Hell, they had no right to begin with. So more than likely they were fired.

I would, however, like to celebrate the occasion of my wrongness with a new theory on debate: The more vehemently you try to convince people you're right, the more likely it is that you're wrong.

She made top story again today with the Coroner finally releasing her cause of death: accidental drowning while high on cocaine along with complications from heart disease. She also had marijuana, Benadryl, Xanax, and Flexiril in her system.

With all that in her, it's no wonder her heart might have exploded.

She died like two days before my gram did. We had just left the hospital, stopped at a diner to get something to eat so we could go back in within the next few hours, and my mom's phone rings. She answers and says, REALLY shocked like "Dead?!"

My grandfather and I looked at each other and I never saw him more pale in my life. Then my mom puts her hand over her phone and says "Whitney Houston is dead!" and we wanted to punch my mom in the face.

The end.
