Being a bored individual who is frequently distracted using the computer while the TV is on at the same time, more often than I'd like to admit I end up subjecting myself to watching shows I absolutely despise (namely shows that Tyra Banks and other uninteresting celebrities end up on).

Anyway, there are some words and phrases that I have come to hate or at least be really confused as to how they came into existence and have been assimilated into the everyday speak of some people.

BABY BUMP -- Are we serious with this? I wrote a long rant years ago regarding the media (and not just the tabloids and celebrity gossip pushers) using this term regarding all of the pregnant starlets out there and their unborn children. While it sounds harmless enough, it also sounds really freaking demeaning.

BOOTY TOOCH -- I've been subjected to Tyra's made-up language for way too long and I cannot express how much I hate how she tries to get her models to say "tooch" when referring to a way to present your ass in pictures. This shit is making it into people's everyday speak around here.

"THROW UNDER THE BUS" -- You can't watch a reality show (especially Hell's Kitchen where they seem to utter this phrase in EVERY EPISODE) without hearing someone upset and shouting about how they're "getting thrown under the bus" or how they're just not going to "throw someone under the bus like that" (even when they will when this other person has their back turned). ARRRRRRRGH. I hate that phrase so much.

Any words you guys hate?

"Epic" when not used to describe something actually epic (like Iliad, Gladiator, Legend of Zelda even?) but instead just for something mildly cool (often ends up not being that cool at all)

"MY BABY DADDY" - Especially when said by white girls or married girls. First of all, it's grammatically incorrect. Secondly, it so isn't cute like you think it is. It's a term that got started for women to refer to the fathers of their children that abandoned them. Don't use it to refer to your husband, it makes you sound like a fucking retard.

I say this ironically. All the time. Shit's hilarious. Try it sometime; you're white. SAY IT! Believe me people will find it hilarious if you pull your cards right.

But the ones I see say it seriously!! Ironic is fine... but no... they actually think it's a cute term of endearment.

"Preggo" and "Preggers" are on the list for me now. Not that they weren't before. I HATED those words the moment I heard them.

They just sound like insanely demeaning slang for pregnant women.

Even when said for ironic effect, they make the person sound like a moron.

"Lulz" has been creeping into way too many IRL conversations.

So I've been watching America's Next Top Model because Creepy Chan is a contestant again in this new season.

There's something really obnoxious about making Creepy Chan say "tooch."

"Hit the Spot" a term refering to eating a said food that you were either craving, or has a desired effect.

I'm so tempted to "Hit the Spot" of the next person who fucking asks me this when I'm eating someone's piss poor sandwich, or if you obviously know your food is boring as hell, and it's there to subside me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm appreciative of people who offer to feed me, but my god, ask me "How is it" like a normal person.

"No Shit Sherlock" is also WAY up there for my dislikes of retarded things.

Theres a few more, but that's it for now.

"Dank"
"Da Bomb"
"Booty Lishious"
>.>

I'm not sure if this counts or not, but people who audibly moan when they eat, and it's even worse when they are staring at someone they're obviously lusting over.

And my all time hated one thus far: "Your Mom"

Everything and everything related to ponies...

You know what I don't hate?

Your m- *stabbed*

I hate basically everything said so far. Except "throw under the bus", because I can't help but laugh at the mental image; usually whoever's being metaphorically thrown is someone I wouldn't mind seeing literally thrown, so...

I actually love the word Persnickety... I wouldn't say it sounds evil per se, but it sounds so much more awesome than just saying "picky"

So I watched that video... and I really want to kill Tyra Banks now.

I'm also gaining a ever-growing hatred for the regional dialect here.

It's "Carn-e-gee" not "Car-neg-ee"! "Re-sez" not "ree-sees" and "keil-basa" not "keil-bossy"! I even hate the way they say "pop"... and I am used to people calling soda that because of my mom's family.

Easy solution Elara....

Come to Georgia and feel better that they say pop instead of calling everything "Coke"

I'm with you on that one. It's like a silent antagonist clawing at the back of my brain when I hear "ree-sees pee-sees" instead of "re-sez pee-sez". Or when people say "sody" instead of "soda"!

"Pieces" does NOT rhyme with "feces", nor should it ever.

Awwww, I ran into the pop/soda thing when I was doing an event with other high school seniors from around the country in Indiana. Seemed like people were getting into some serious arguments over it and wouldn't let it die.

Thing is, when you're used to "soda," hearing adults say "pop" sounds silly, like it's a kids' word. No offense or anything to those here who say "pop."

But then again, seemed like the people who REALLY couldn't get over that it was anything other than what they call it were the "soda" people, so there you go.

Anyway, I cannot fucking believe I got back in the states and heard this colorful phrase used on three separate occasions in the last couple days.

Just to spite everybody who insists on dragging out the whole "soda vs pop" debate, I'm going to just start calling them "carbonated beverages". Because I'm a prick.

The full phrase or just the first part of it?

I'd never really heard the full phrase used before, and it's a bit annoying hearing it for a third time in two days when two stockboys at the market are talking about trying to ****** rig their broken dolly.
