Cause damnit I can't do anything right now.

1- I know it sounds selfish, but I really need to get a new computer. This one has about ran it's course and a project I am working on makes it extremely difficult to produce and not to mention other issues occuring (Failing HD. Yikes) that completely WIPES some of my work. So i'm on a ticking time bomb. Plus I was meaning to get a new computer anyways and I think at least paying it off for Interest making good credit is a good thing. Kill two birds with one stone on this one.

2- Once computer is paid off and raising my credit. I really, really need to go back to school. I was declined two loans and was also unable to get my School money because "No Credit is established". Before my grandfather passed away he gave me a significant amount of money to use ONLY for books and classes for school. Unfortunately, I didnt read the fine print and I need to have credit to get more money just in case I need money to pay OFF the loan. Kinda weird words there I know. But the fact is I tried applying for school and without Credit I can't do nothing.

So, I'm at a standstill right now. Plus, I don't know anything about Credit Cards and I am looking into Chase cards and some of my family members are saying that Chase is good so long as I don't spend too much of my own money and pay everything off ASAP.

But I'm not gonna lie. Kinda iffy about getting a Credit Card. Anyone else got one and care to share your imput on it?

Well, Newegg kinda turned me down and I want to build my monster computer. (Quad Core, GTX graphics card, 4GB RAM, The works) And newegg just kinda went "lol no" on the Bill me later option. Which means if I want to get done while building credit I need to first get a credit card.

I only go to Best Buy to get my minor parts like cables, Flash Drives, and other stuff. I go to newegg for my bigger stuff.

All my friends say building credit can be pretty important in the long run, but they can obviously be dangerous to have as well. From what I always hear using them to pay off small things (such as gas) and just making sure you can pay that off by the end of the month is a really easy way to build up credit.

That was probably stupidly obvious but yeah, obviously I don't know much either and don't have a card yet. lol

Go to a credit union, not a bank. They're designed to help people establish good credit, not to fuck you over and to make money off of your mistakes. Try finding a branch in your area, definitely. If Capital One tries knocking on your doorstep, IGNORE THE FUCK OUT OF IT!

Try to get something with a lower credit limit to start with, like $500 or so. $500 isn't hard to pay off if you get into trouble. When you're comfortable with your card and you aren't maxing it out constantly (like yours truly), then look into getting something a bit higher.

I... kind of agree with Nelrith. A credit union would be a good start, along with a lower spending limit, which you're going to find with every credit card, since you don't have credit. Also, the interest rate will most likely be a little higher than you would like. Credit unions may have lower interest rates, though.

But as for Capital One... That was my first credit card, and I had no issues. They're really good about opening up new accounts for those who haven't yet established credit. Though, like every one you try to open, your limit will most likely be around $500, interest around 15%.

15% ouch my best buy one is only 11%. Most of the time store ones like that are a lot higher. I know that the target one is like 22%. Where even the 11% is high when it comes to most. I have one that's for emergencies only that has 4.5% on it. That's about standard for most cards from discover and the like if you know how to look.

Credit card from a bank (or credit union) is the best option because it will have lower interest. I have a $500 limit card from my credit union and it works great... I make one $40-$100 purchase a month on it and pay it off. Now, supposedly if you let it accrue interest by paying the minimum one month and paying it off the next it will boost your credit faster, but I am not sure on that.

Best part about a card from your bank or credit union is that it is just a Visa or Master Card... no limit to where it can be used.
