| Counting down the hours 'til I can leave work and head for Arizona. Right now I'm bored out of my mind at work. I'm supposed to be researching stories to write, but my boss is at a seminar somewhere else and won't be in today at all and my news briefs and everything are locked in her office.
So, I'm pretty much just listening to iTunes on my laptop at a ridiculously low volume since no one ever plays music in this office and it's always deathly quiet and I'd rather not get in trouble for playing pirate rock songs about fucking loose women and killing giant squid. So yeah, steampunk convention this weekend. Excited. Even more excited about the Apache Junction renaissance faire. Sat up last night making skirts for new garb. I'll be fairly inactive this weekend. I'll probably be more active at night when I can get to my laptop. |

| I am so incredibly bored right now. I'm waiting out the last hour of work.
OK, now I'm disturbed. This lady is talking rather loudly about her cancer treatment, the pain she's going through, and how she's started losing pubic hair. Anyway... Heading out of town this weekend to see Brandon's dad in Central California. Could be interesting. If all goes well the next three weekends will be spent at conventions. We'll see. | My presentation went pretty well. Since the people ahead of me went over their allotted 15 minutes each, mine was cut short, but I pick it up on Tuesday. I was getting ready to show them the anti-comic PSA from the '50s.
What kills me about people doing Powerpoints is they usually write everything they want to say in the Powerpoint and then read it to you at a snail's pace. It's ridiculous and it makes your audience suicidal. |

| Merv is what Brandon and I jokingly called the giant California spiny lobster at the Cabrillo Aquarium. Since we go there just about every other weekend, we usually paid a visit to "Merv." He died a couple weeks ago, but occasionally I think about and genuinely feel sad.
Incidentally, Merv is what I name everything. My iPod is named Merv. Every grunion I ever hatched is named Merv. Etc. Just graduated. I feel tired. |

| I'm kind of amused. Brandon's sister is pregnant. She's 17 and she's engaged. Their dad was calling around to disappointedly tell everyone. Brandon happened to get the call while he was performing on stage and had to silence his phone between songs.
Anyway, she's going to the courthouse next month when she turns 18. Since she's been living in Washington for most of the last year none of us have met this guy. All I've seen of him are pictures on Sara's Facebook - so all I know is he wears a crucifix earring that reaches down to his nipple and he's fucking the equivalent of my little sister. |

I can't find the pictures of him wearing it. I think they might have been in a friend of theirs' album that they were tagged in or something, but all of their "engagement" pictures have him wearing this axe type one:
