**If you're not from the United States, or are here but not a citizen, disregard this message. **

It's election day, for crying out loud.

If you haven't voted absentee, head down to your polling place and punch that chad, ink that dot, click on that screen, put the jelly bean in that jar, or WHATEVER it is your area does for voting, JUST DO IT!

I don't care which way you vote, but we need more people to let their voices be heard by this government and it's a goddamn shame that only a small part of the population decides what goes on in this country.

I, unfortunately, won't get to vote until after class gets out tonight, but I will be racing to my polling place (that seems to be different with EVERY FUCKING election, what's going on with that?) to cast mine.

I don't vote for assholes who call at 10:00pm at night telling me to vote for them.

So I'm not voting for anybody.

I go to school in center city, and there were people EVERYwhere. Well, I get closer, and one of the people trying to get votes was like "Nah dude, she's like 12."

Wow, guys.

All these generations of people fighting tooth and nail for the right to vote and you just don't care?

Well, OK then. Let the rest of the country decide the government you live under.

EDIT: Go, Belial!

Hell I don't even know what I was voting for. I just don't really care for either side. Same reason I did not vote for either McCain or Obama.

But I am glad that my cousin Bethany won Board of Educaton. She had a favorable vote count of 56%

I do care. I would like Patrick Murphy to win over here. I just honestly have no idea how to register. I'm still new to this whole 'adult' thing.

You can do it at the DMV, or you can go to a site like https://www.raiseyourvote.com/ to register.

Have you registered for selected services? If you're a legal male citizen over 18, it's compulsory. From what I hear they don't come after you with pitchforks and torches, but you can still be told to fuck off if you try to get financial aid for school or a federal job.

I voted. Apparently everyone I voted for lost.

This sucks. The next two years nothing's going to get done. Complete and utter deadlock.

Also, this thread is ridiculously disheartening.

Tell me about it, on all counts.

Thankfully just about everyone I voted for in California won. Take that, billionaire corporate people trying to buy your ways into the governor's seat and Senate.

I can't believe the GOP got the House. I was watching Fox last night and they were SOOOO self-congratulatory, and yet when they started talking about California they got REALLY solemn as though someone had died.

What gets me is that this doesn't so much come off as people "rejecting" Obama so much as the fact that the people who suddenly rose up and voted in record numbers in 2008 (the YOUNG people) didn't do it this year.

Thank you, the rest of you who voted. Like I said, I don't care how you vote, just that you get your voice in that (even if it seems like it's overshadowed by assholes yelling and screaming).

I'm sick of the older generation making all the decisions because the blue-haired old ladies who want to extend retiring age, outlaw gay marriage and abortion, deny funds to the poor, hungry and unemployed, chop down every tree and give tax breaks to every corporation and oil company are making it to the polls every election, oxygen tank in tow, and yet the able-bodied, opinionated youth don't care enough to try to save the things they care about by marking a dot on a piece of paper.

Basically, our generation is the one that's going to have to pull the world back up from the ground, and however we do it, it's going to be with responsibility and hard work. If we just succumb to indifference, we're dooming ourselves and generations after us to a truly terrible state of the world.

Educate yourselves. It should be one of the most important things in your lives.

It's ridiculous, but most of the people in California who probably voted on Prop 19, only voted on that specific part of the ballot. None of them really cared about the other issues or what elected officials were better. They ignored the really important parts of voting and just check Yes on Prop 19 and turned in their ballots. I hate newly made adults who only care about not getting fined for lighting up. Ugh!

I have been on a personal crusade for this. I just recently registered to vote, mainly because I just felt like an ass not doing it, but...there's still quite a bit I don't understand. And that's one of the faults of youth. Excitement and jumping in headfirst can be awesome at times, but...I don't know left from right when it comes to politics, and I need to change that. I voted and my guy lost, but ehh...I really wasn't too keen on the vote anyways. Because I'm not indifferent to the vote. I just don't get it yet and I think knowingly misusing my right is just a terrible thing to do. **shrugs**

It was just funny that I wasn't approached by the annoying people at the corners downtown. XD
