This school board vice president in a town 85 or so miles from Little Rock, Arkansas decided to use Facebook as his vehicle to bitch about having to wear purple in commemoration of the gay youngsters who killed themselves due to bullying. There are screencaps of his Facebook comments posted on the link above, but they go:
The man writes like a 4chan troll, which actually made me think someone had hacked into his account and wrote these things. But, I guess, he really did write this bigotry. He went on Anderson Cooper to "apologize." This guy ducks all of the questions. He pretty much agrees that he was caught saying the "wrong" things, but he doesn't deny BELIEVING what he said. What douche throws a fit over having to wear purple? A family who lost a child to suicide over bullying reacts: BONUS: Immediately after the "apology," a reporter got on him to ask the question I was curious about: I realize that someone is not going to learn love, acceptance, and gay tolerance over night, but this is such a ridiculous farce. | My squad leader and I had a debate over this issue. Of course being the person I am, I told him how tired I was of the "It Gets Better" stuff. I told him that YOU make it better with YOUR actions. I did not see these suicides as a bigot thing. I just saw them as a "fuck you" to all of the things they could be. We even talked about this stuff because it was on AFN. He compared me to that guy. I was pissed of course.
Seriously though, to have a thought process like that you have to be from Tennessee or Kentucky. =P People are stuck to their own opinion. Doesn't mean that they should show it. |

| What stinks for me, being right around Little Rock, is that we're going to to get labeled as right-wing extremists over this BS when a lot of people around here may have somewhat similar conservative values but aren't exceptionally fundamentalist about them like this canned spiel.
And, of course, the media is JUST fine about eating some of that up and making it look like all people around here think like that. Can't do that with normal people - isn't newsworthy - but it's easy to generalize by state with the media doing things the way they do these days and living in an era of political correctness. |

| Heh, yeah. I'm from California and we have all kinds with raging extremes in every which direction and not just left and right. Most other states think we're all liberal and crazy. I guess, in a certain sense, depending on what part of the state you wander to, they might be right.

I figure the Anderson Cooper interview only was only him saying that he will resign and that he was resigning right at that moment. "I am a better person today than I was a week ago I promise you." Sounds like he got dumped by his girlfriend and he wrote her a little note in homeroom asking her to take him back.  |
