OBJECTION!

Terminals still have varying Science skill requirements. So yeah. You do still need it.

Also, though I bumped Int at the beginning and lowered Str slightly, my increased Agi seems to make up for it quite nicely at range. My only real issue is running out of ammo.

I guess you are right. Science does play a pretty fun role during the middle of the game. But you still don't really need it due to other means of completing quests.

Oh yeah, and thank God almighty that you can buy t51-b power armor in this game. It's expensive, but with a high barter skill and maxed out repair you can sell it right back and make an easy 4k caps. Easy.

Astrophel: Have you experimented with installing it on the HDD or anything? Wonder if that helps load times and such.

I'm still pretty tempted to get this sometime soon. I've been craving a really long single player experience again. I got some more b-day money and could probably either get Vanquish, Black Ops, or perhaps this. I'm pretty sure this would probably be the longest game out of those... and although I think Black Ops looks far better than MW2, I wonder if it'd just be another "fun for a month" kind of game. Vanquish looks epic but I'm guessing it's short.

So, I might pick this up soon. I dunno.

Never occurred to me, honestly, because the load times - though noticeable - don't really bug me. I usually have Skype open right next to me, so I've got other things to look into.

ALso, Bitmap, you were probably thinking of the Computer Whiz perk, which is indeed useless for the very reason you mentioned - you can easily avoid ever getting locked out of a computer. It's the same issue forcing locks has: There's never a reason.

E- Beat the game on Hardcore mode. I sided with Mr. House and had a hell of a hard fucking time. Playthrough time: 41 hours (Ending at level 18).

Word of advice: Make damn sure you come prepared when you side against the legion. The final boss is one hell of a battle. And he does not play nice. Take drugs, lots and lots of drugs when you fight him. I am not fucking kidding you. One hit and he will cripple limbs! If you are lucky he will knock half your health off. Either way, he hurts. Speech checking him only makes him madder unless you can convince him into retreating. Failing it; only makes him more upset.

Beware of this guy.

SPOILER VIDEO:
Spoiler:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaUvX4jQXjo

^^^ Holy shit Unarmed is bad ass!

Started a new game (Not hardcore mode) with companions. Got Ed-E early on and I just picked up Veronica. Both make a very good team. Ed-E can distract enemies while Veronica literally punches people to death. Not to mention she carries an arm weapon. So her punches handicap your enemies like crazy. Only downfall to her is that you need to be careful hurting her. Especially in Hardcore mode. I can see how she can be a pain (You could accidentally shoot her.)

Right now the game is in Easy mode for me. INT maxed out, LCK at 8 (I already got kicked out of one casino with that high of a luck skill), and everything else is either average or below average. Nothing too low.

Also, I have learned a glitch in the game that might help people. All this does is gives you +1 to any of your special while reverting yourself back to lvl 2 at the beginning of the game.

First off, when you hit lvl 2. Pick the "Intense Training" perk and add a point to any of your special. When you wander off in the wasteland further, choose to change your special again. This will basically revert your character back to level 2, and you can choose the perk again to add a point to any of your special. When I was done I had 4 STR, 5 PER, 4 END, 5 CHR, 10 INT, 5, AGL, and 8 LCK. Without this glitch I would have 7 LCK.

So, a couple things I have beefs with in New Vegas: This will contain spoilers

First off. I really wished the Brotherhood of Steel had more to do with this game. In Fallout 3, they were practically involved with the story. In new Vegas, they were more a side dish. Sure, you can friend with the Brotherhood. Get their power armor (Which is a God send), shop in the lookout, and even do some quests with them. But they were never an intricate part of the storyline. Why do I want them being a part of it even though they were never in Fallout 1&2? Well, they were all about fighting against the Enclave. Also maintaining peace while improving civilization. They just seemed like the ultimate badass good guys in this game. In new Vegas? They were pinned in a corner; depending on who you sided with you were forced to either be friends with them or destroy them. I find this bullshit.

Casers Legion. While awesome if you are a bad guy. They have a religious standpoint against chems. Or drugs if you want to call it that. I have sided with the Legion once and that was the worst way to end the game. It was fun, don't get me wrong; the legion seemed to me like Neanderthals than standard humans. People walking around crucifying folks over being 'Whores'? Meanwhile their lead spy gambles in the New Vegas Casino? Get the fuck out of here.

The NCR isn't that much different. They are all OO RAH about taking the Dam. But yet they want diplomacy in an already dying country. Fuck off with that shit. You won't get garbage without the wasteland fighting for it.

I already mentioned multiple times about my PS3 dying. But I have already beaten three different factions. Yes Man, Mr. House, and the Legion. The NCR is next, and I honestly don't want to do it. They are such pusssies. OO RAH my fucking asshole you NCR idiots. But I gotta side with you when I play you guys next.

I didn't know this game had music from the first two, that's just awesome.

Been watching lots of videos off and on from it, man I want this game so bad.

I doesn't. It has a more 'Western' feel to the music. I was just linking the music because it has the same flavor. Not to mention there are some annoying songs in the game.

But just know that your first playthrough of the game isn't gonna be bad. The second or third time will be full of freezing issues. If that is the case, for the 360 folks, clear your cache, and for the PS3 folks delete the system data while backing up your save files. Reload the save files, and reinstall the game. It should make it to where it's like your first playthrough. If you do this with both versions; anyone you have killed (Deathclaws, radroaches, etc) will come right back. Main story humans you have killed will NOT come back. I have tested this.

Also, the patch for the Consoles came out days ago. Which improves the game in many ways. So that does help out a lot.

You sure? I know this song is from the original two, either it's just modded (I haven't been able to tell what he's playing this on) or they did it for the vault sections:

Oh Ambient music. Yeah it's the same as FO3.

But that guy in the video is aight. Guess you can say both of us have different ways of playing. He loots every last thing off an enemy but I just go after the guns / Ammo. Repairing / Salvaging any guns and bullets I find while making a profit.

And level 15 while having 2k caps? Cmon man, go to the Casino and play Blackjack!

Hell getting kicked out of every casino nets you every implant in the game as well as 8k caps to throw around with. By them you should be ready to go.

I'm with the NCR on the Hoover Damn battle.

Problem: My emphasis has been on Guns, Sneak, and Repair.

I'm still using Reinforced Leather Armor, ffs.

Sneak? Not so useful in this situation.

Repair? That's more of an after-battle thing.

And, since I'm on Hardcore, I can't just cheese my way through with instant Stimpacks.

Oh, well. I have some sweet backup at least.

Spoiler:
The Brotherhood of Steel, bitch. Ahahaha.

So guys, guess what game is taking over my life and I'm relentlessly in love with ... !!!

Yes this game is absolutely incredible. Again for other users let me remind you guys that I was not into 3 at all, but holy crap this game has pulled me in.

I've got Boone right now and am going to help Chris Halverson(?) on that ... special rockets editing for the glowing ones. Heheh.

My build is pretty wacky and one of my main stats at the start I picked was lockpicking, which I'm not sure if that was a good thing or not. It took me awhile to get used to the lockpicking system but I like it now. In Fallout I had a strong but slow build and could only do one shot most of the time, so I put AGI up to 7 for this and somehow despite the random build overall (I was just "testing" the game out, but here I am 10+ some hours later) I can fire up to 4 times in VATS sometimes and my accuracy is really good.

I'm not sure if I want to keep Boone around. He instantly kills things and it kind of changes up that lonely vibe that I was really digging for awhile.

- That brings up a question though, if I told him to "wait" would he just hang out there until I come back and get him?
- Also, I've been wondering if I could stash a bunch of items in random houses and come back to get them whenever? Since I never got too into Oblivion or Fallout 3 I'm not sure if this is possible. But I did leave this one armor at this one house, and actually threw this knuckle blade thing on the ground in front of the door, then came back hours later randomly to find both again. I really hope I can store stuff around, that'd just be hilariously awesome.

I re-read the thread and I can say so far Repair does seem worth investing in. I'm level 9 now I think and just got speech to 50, guns are fairly high too, other than that I've focused on Barter, Medicine, and some other stuff that seems good.

Recently got "That Gun" which I believe is Deckard's from Blade Runner, hehe. It's awesome.

As far as putting items in random locations in houses and whatnot. In theory, it should still be there when you get back.

Also "That Gun" is from Bladerunners. And it's probably one of the best guns to have at the beginning of the game.

Finally you can fire Boone by getting into a conversation with him. You can always get him back later down the road if you feel like it.

Yeah I've never dismissed a companion in a Fallout game before.

Would he just return to that hotel town?

Right now I'm playing on Normal myself, this is all pretty new to me so just getting a feel for the game and all. Hardcore mode does sound immerse and pretty fun though, I'll check it out sometime. This game feels like I could play it forever.

Then again having played the first two it's almost like those were automatically set to Hardcore mode, haha. As you said earlier in the thread Bit those training grounds at the very start of Fallout 2 was no pushover at all. Those games were pretty brutal.

Yeah he is gonna return to where you first found him. As well as every other companion.

Ed-E is a real good companion starting out with. With a high repair skill you can easily get him to join you. Not only will he make up for a low perception skill build (You can easily pinpoint enemies hundreds of yards away) but he can easily draw enemy fire to him.

In hardcore mode; he is the worst companion. Keep in mind that he isn't a very good attacker. And a couple of hits to him will knock him out cold. He is one of those companions where you load him up with food and water in hardcore mode and tell him to wait outside while you go in and get all the beatings.

Boone is aight. Never really played around with him a lot.

My two hardcore companions were always Cass and Lily. For starters. Cass has her perk to where you can consume alcohol and not become addicted to the drug. 80% of alcohol lowers your INT by 1. So with a high INT build, this isn't going to be a problem unless you level up. During firefights; it's like taking a psycho or a Med-x. The benefits of alcohol is amazing. Did I mention you can't be addicted to alcohol with her?

Lily, while absolutely creepy to have around. Is one of the meanest companions you will have. This super mutant granny can and will kick all kinds of ass. You thought boone was bad? Give lily a minigun and she will literally drop a granny kick on everyone's ass. Her perk enables you to do 10% more critical damage while using a stealthboy. And stealthboy's last 200% longer. Making a hardcore sneak build crucial with her.

Arcade sucks. I hate him.

Rex is downright worthless. Rex was a lot like Dogmeat in Fallout. He get's in the way a lot.

Veronica. While she was my 2nd companion in hardcore mode. Was REALLY great. But getting down to brass tax here. She is strictly melee. Give her a gun and she won't really like using it. But will if you make her. She is good to have in quests in New Vegas. After you are done with all of the quests there. Dump her. But at least keep her around while you friend up with the Brotherhood of steel. She will be handy. Downfall is that it's harder. Not gonna spoil how or why. But in the end she is REAL good to have during those quests.

Have not even found Raul. But judging by his perk; he still isn't that good to have. Maybe with a high survival skill. Or was it repair? Not sure but I think your weapons decay 50% slower.

But yeah. Cass and Lily. Best companions. Ever.

I'm still using Reinforced Leather Armor, ffs.

Aren't you friend with the Brotherhood? Their power armor is the business!

Arcade's quest to get that Tesla Armor is ok. Looks sexy. But getting it was a pain in my ass.

My friend was talking about Ed-E too, I like how when I talk about the game with him this weekend it'll probably be like talking about two completely different games, hehe. That's awesome.

I figured Cass might be recruitable since she has a unique character model and all. Can you get Ghost? That'd be epic. I like how the whole bar below said she was scary and mean as hell, but she was really nice to me.

I actually found some Power Armor really early, North from that Powder Gangers fort East of Goodsprings. It was so heavy though and my stats were nowhere near being able to put it on, might try and go back to get it and store it somewhere. I just got access to that motel in Novac, so stocking up things in there.

The rocketman armor and helmet is hilariously awesome. But I just got some reinforced Leather Armor myself, wonder if that's good for being at level 10... lol.

Do you have to manage your companions in Hardcore mode too, with food, water, etc? That'd be a hassle!
