Haha. That sounds pretty cool. Education by graphic novel, huh?

Let's see. Well I had the chance to go to college this semester, but it would have been last minute. I decided that it was a bit smarter to wait until next semester. That way, I have more time to work and get money (and possibly a car), and I can also apply for a ton of scholarships. Scholarships are always good.

Yeah, it's an English class that pretty much looks at graphic novels as a literary form.

The teacher who started this class (this is its first semester ever) also started a Harry Potter class a couple years ago, and a Vampire Lit class last year.

The books for this class (thankfully I already owned four of them):
- "Understanding Comics" by Scott McCloud
- "Maus" Parts 1 & 2 by Art Spiegelman
- "The Complete Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi
- "A Contract with God" by Will Eisner
- "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller
- "Watchmen" by Alan Moore
- "Astonishing X-Men: Volume 1, Gifted" by Joss Whedon
- "Sandman: Dream Country" by Neil Gaiman
- "Y: The Last Man" Volume 1 by Brian K. Vaughan
- "Fables: Legends in Exile" by Bill Willingham
- "Astro Boy" by Osamu Tezuka
- "Fahrenheit 451: The Authorized Adaptation" by Ray Bradbury
- "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" by Michael Chabon (NOT on a comic, actually!)
- "Une Semaine de Bonte: A Surrealistic Novel in Collage" by Max Ernst

Yeah, our teacher's a huge Buffy fan and says Joss Whedon's her favorite writer. ICK! He's fine writing his own characters, but as far as I'm concerned he ruins things.

Life is so weird some times.

I should really be writing a piece for feature writing class, but I just don't care. I'm just going to keep looking at the board while watching "The 5th Element."

I love a lot of books on your former list Rogue, A LOT!

But onto me. I've nothing but free time and nothing to fill it with. Anybody know anything to do in PA

Say whatever you want. He gave me Firefly and Dr. Horrible. I love him. (though he's far from my favorite writer, there's many better, imo)

That cirriculum is INSANE, though. I love Sandman, Fables, Maus, Kavalier and Clay, and Y.

EDIT: And I'm a fool for Bradbury.

When it comes to his TV/movies, he's awesome. I'm not a fan of his comics writing, though. I was rather unhappy with his run on Runaways. Suddenly everyone's either gay or sleeping around, not to mention the random references back to Toy Story and other things he wrote.

But like I said, he's fine when it's his own characters.

As for the class, I wish our teacher had actually gone to 20 books for the class, but the board told her to cut it down to 14.

I gotcha. Haven't read his Runaways, so can't really fight you there.

Question, which of these have you read already?

I've read Watchmen, the first Maus, Y: The Last Man (I've only read the first 5 volumes so far), Fables (I've read all but the Great Fables Crossover), Sandman: Dream Country (I've read through the 8th or 9th volume), and the at least half of the first Persepolis book.

The ones I owned already were Watchmen, Sandman: Dream Country, the first Maus, and Y: The Last Man.

I need to get Watchmen back from a friend who borrowed it, actually.

*Flips through the shredding/spamming insanity*

Heh, guess I missed out what with being in class all day and then going on a date that night.

Then tonight, in class 'til 9:30.

I feel like my head is going to explode with all the course work and reading. So much to absorb and think about.

Thankfully, it's only graphic novel class tomorrow. Trying to think of the story behind this French surrealist collage book is also kinda tough.

It's been a very mentally-exhausting day talking about Siegel and Shuster, Marx and Gramsci, reading dense books explaining the latter, and then watching documentaries and movies all night.

This weekend was full of visiting museums and international festivals.

My cup is so full. Time to meditate.

I have a Friday off!

I...have a Friday off...

I need a couple minutes to let this kick in. It's the first Friday I have had off since I got this job 8 months ago.

I think this weekend I am going to go fishing with my mom and step dad. Either that or get the hell away from my house / Georgia for awhile.

Go you, Nagis. Definitely get out and do something. Fishing with your mom sounds cool.

Either way, 8 months of work and getting a Friday off now? Yeah, you could use some time away.

Vince is coming over later.

That's pretty much it. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3? I think so.
i will also be victorious, and I do not own the game, let alone a PS2. Mockery in its highest form.

Mom and step dad have their own boat. And I am not talking about a basic boat. I am talking underwater cam and everything. They have bugged me about getting a weekend off and I think it's high tide I go fishing with them. Also, I will bring this song with me:

Hoping this will not scare the fish away. But hell yea a fucking boat

Also this Thursday I usually have off due to Freemason meetings at my lodge. So Thursday is getting drunk at my lodge, Friday is getting drunk while fishing.

Hell yeah. I deserve this

So, I finally got that newspaper delivery job. I start tonight, which means I no longer can stay up late

Curse you, regular sleeping hours.

Also, I might be getting a job as a salesman up at my gym. I'd be working 40+ hours a week, so it isn't too bad for a first *real* job.

Burning some sage, eating a little dinner, and watching "Rome" after scrubbing the shower and re-arranging our room. Still need to sort out what clothes to clean and then give away, along with what needs to be kept, tossed, or donated.

I'm looking forward to re-arranging my book shelf and organizing my comics in all their boxes.

I really should have done the reading for tomorrow's classes, but whatever.
