This thread will be designed to take a non-biased (MNIGHT SMELLS BAD) view on Shamallamadingdong's portrayl of The Last Airbender. I felt that the other thread wasn't for this purpose. So I'm not a fan of what he's done to the premise but, how do you feel?

You're that young? "Avatar" wasn't a part of my childhood, but I'm a big fan.

I'm excited that they're relaunching with the next avatar -- a water-bender, as it's the next in the cycle.

Now, I am not a fan of the new movie. But I did get amped up during a few scenes, particularly when Sokka, Katara, and Aang get the earth-benders to stand up against the fire nation soldiers.

I guess he was just the first one to get it all written and filmed.

He's mentioned in several interviews that he's watched the series with his kids.

What?

And yeah, I refuse to watch the Avatar movie... I might see it if I don't have to pay a dime for it.

I've got four words for you guys.

Teenage. Mutant. Ninja. Turtles.

I've got a copy of the source material from 26 years ago. It's dark. They killed Shredder in issue 1.

But then you started getting silly cartoons about party dudes with pizza obsessions, cowabunga, and all that which ended up inspiring the movies.

Things designed for kids are often bastardized as they go.

Ninja Turtles was butchered, yeah, but at least they butchered it in a good way. If that makes sense. The Last Airbender wasn't anything like the show, nor was it a decent standalone movie. That's where it really went wrong, I think.
