We went hiking to this shipwreck. Boulder-hopping the whole way with the sun in our faces for a few miles. I practically twisted my ankle along the way. There was no shelter, just the cliff we're walking along, lots and lots and LOTS of rocks, and the ocean.

I was horribly dehydrated, no sun screen, my phone died and Brandon's was dying.

We get to the shipwreck and it's getting really, really dark. I could barely walk any more. I was really dizzy, in pain, and I was starting to panic not being able to see straight, especially not in the dark. We'd either end up trying to wait out where we were through the night, or try and figure our way out in the dark, which would be impossible.

We pressed on even though I was about ready to cry. I mean, my head and chest felt like they were going to explode and we come across these surfers standing in the dark, with their boards and we saw them smoking. Like guardian angels they not only gave us water, but guided us up the cliff, partially carrying me and pulling me up along the way.

Then they gave us a ride to our car. Thank you, Sean and Sean, wherever you are now.

Seriously, we asked for their addresses to send them something, maybe take them to dinner, but they refused. My parents were quite disappointed to hear that because they wanted to thank them as well.

I had this really weird dream last night. I found this church that was a sect of Christianity which makes a point in mutilating animals and laughing at them because they believe that it shows God's will of humans being superior to the other creatures of the world.

Though, in the dream I didn't witness them mutilate an animal, I saw many of their pets without normal faces or bodies. And I didn't stop them or tell them this was wrong. I felt physically ill with their actions, but for some reason I couldn't leave and kept talking to people like there was nothing wrong.

After thinking about the dream all morning, the only way I can explain it is maybe it's my own conflicts with the Prime Directive (yep, Star Trek reference, but it makes sense): respect other people's cultures and don't get involved.

I do maintain that people have a right to be how they want, especially in terms of religion, but there are some things that I just can't respect. Like the Westboro Baptist Church. They go on about homosexuality and other lifestyle choices in the most negative ways on top of going to military funerals to protest in a smug, "Good! God is killing you all off for being fag-enablers and allowing homos to exist in America!!" fashion.

I've always tried to boil it down that while they are jerks and ignorant, they aren't physically harming anyone and are entitled to their own opinion and their fair share of the First Amendment. But being a "fag-enabler" as they would call a person like myself, it makes me sick to know that people like them exist.

I dunno, there are other ways to interpret it, I suppose. Maybe it's a vegetarianism thing?

I love you as my fag-enabler.

Anywho, I feel odd walking through my entryway because I feel that I neglect this portion of the house. Only in terms that it's not really "lived in" but more like "used". I feel that my entryway is sad that I spend more time in the rest of the house.

Perhaps I will buy it some sort of furniture to make it happy.

I've got two stories I should have turned in today, but I keep putting it off.

My grandmother is staying over right now because she's saying she's hearing voices.

Since the 18th I've been making some form of effort to studying Japanese (solo, with limited resources). My schedule for Weekdays is:

2-3pm: Spoken
3-4pm: Anime Break (edutainment!)
4-5pm: Written

These past couple days I've done pretty poorly, but I've been tired as hell. Doing this makes me feel less useless since I'm not employed whoo.

Oh yeah and I got accepted to the University I applied for. Now I'm procrastinating picking my courses hurrrrr

Grandma's out of the hospital. They're moving her in with my aunt and selling her house.

Just got back from seeing "Shinjuku Incident." Pretty dark for a Jackie Chan movie.

Sorry about your grandmom, Rogue. What happened, if you don't mind me asking?

Got the results from the contest back. I did NOT win the 3 Day Novel Contest, but I am still proud of myself for actually writing a book. I'm gonna rewrite it and then try to get it published. What I've got done so far is showing it's going to be a vastly better draft.

Well, she's getting up there in her years, and she's been having a few accidents this past year.

Shortly after checking in on her a couple weeks ago, she called up saying to come back because she kept hearing voices singing really loud or shouting and she wasn't sure if it was someone outside her window or what. Even when we brought her home, she still complained about people talking really loudly at her.

Conversations with her keep getting really weird too. Like whenever someone enters a room while she's telling a story suddenly they're in the story too. Or she'll start talking about things that REALLY don't make sense. Apparently when she's out with my aunt she starts grabbing people saying that my aunt (her daughter) is kidnapping her.

She ended up in the hospital when she slumped over in her chair and wasn't responding. The doctors still haven't given us a diagnosis (stroke, heart attack, etc). It's been decided that she's going to live with us on alternating weeks with my aunt.

Doing a story on the Westboro Baptist Church for my paper and going to interview them tomorrow. They're freaking scary.

Then covering Comic Expo on Saturday. Good stuff.

Have a lot of reading to do for my three American Studies classes too. Fuck broadcast class.

Got a nice card from Phil and his girlfriend. It just read "Happy!" inside. Heh.

I went to the protest... as one of members of the Westboro Baptist Church said, it was just shy of a riot.

The WBC was surprisingly nice. Like Shirley Philips was extremely kind and helpful. I think so long as you don't argue with them and you treat them fairly, they don't act all crazy on you.

While I completely disagree with their beliefs and their methods of putting out their ideas, it was really intriguing being around them.

Then of course Long Beach descended upon them. Thousands turned up to oppose them. It was insane and Long Beach beyond overwhelmed them. They couldn't get to their van and police had to intervene and escort them out.

Facebook is an odd thing. You get a sneak preview of your high school reunion, taking away the surprise.

Just found out my high school best friend is married. I found out my other HS best friend is gay.

Stuck in the office right now, waiting for videos to render. Looks like another 45 minutes to go.

This has been, by far, the most fascinating, depressing, challenging, exciting, agonizing, rewarding, *insert ANY adjective ... no, seriously* school year of my life. I've never interviewed so many people, put so many pages together, covered so many events, met so many people, got so many stitches (well, I'd never had them before), been so drunk, gone to so many parties, taken and stuck with so many classes, and all that.

And in the converse of it, I've never been so stressed, so tired, so depressed. I'd never cried so much, contemplated suicide so often (not seriously, but you know...), or even gained so much weight while also being more active (how the hell did THAT happen?).

I'm looking forward to a couple months of doing nothing. It's probably going to be my last summer vacation, and damn it if I didn't earn it.

I feel my Japanese is getting and better and better everyday, but I still make a lot of mistakes and that is how you learn. But I find it troubling that when I exchange e-mails with Japanese people, they always say that I'm good. One of the friends that I have is actually trying to correct me whenever she can, so I can learn from her. But there is one person that is saying that it seems she is writing to a Japanese person instead! To me, because Japanese people don't like a lot of confrontation, that is a bunch of lard. I would rather someone tell me what mistakes I've made that way I can learn from them. Sometimes I'll go back in my e-mails and find mistakes that I've made that I didn't notice before.
