| I pick up my credit report for free about once or twice a year.
Random jobs have given me access to my background check and records over the past few years. Figured I'd find out if it was possible to get whatever the FBI may or may not have on me. This is how, courtesy of Everything2 : The Freedom of Information Act is a powerful thing. If you've ever wanted to know just what those guvmint bastards have on you, anyway, here's your chance. Just fill in the italics in this form letter with the appropriate information, get your signature notarized, send it off, and you're in business! This should be free, though if your search returns reams of information, you may be charged 5 cents per page in duplication fees. The law says that your request must be responded to within 10 days, but you can expect something closer to 2 or 3 months for a definitive answer with the current backlog of paperwork. | If this wasn't coming from you I'd pass this off as another spam mail attempt to get personal info or absurd amounts of money that nobody has. It sounds interesting to do. I suppose I could go to the legal office here on post to get something notarized. I would hope information like that is kept well by the FBI. It almost seems like somebody can pose as another person get whatever stuff they want on him/her. | |||

| I'm broke right now.
When I have monies, I'll send it out. I know its not going to take ten days, but by the Freedom of Information Act, you can obtain anything that any agency has on you, to their discretion. But, since I'm broke, it's gonna have to wait a while. Mostly, I just want to know if I can reactivate my confidential security clearance again. Just in case I need it in the future. |
