Crystle walked in her front door to the expectant look of her parents.

"Sorry I'm late. A friend needed some help and I had no way to call you."

"Then you shouldn't have helped them! Why couldn't you call? You have a cell phone for a reason!"

Crystle sighed as she moved towards her room. "I forgot it on my bed this morning. Didn't you hear it ringing?"

She picked up the phone... five voicemails and fifteen missed calls, all mom. "You know I'm not a little kid anymore."

"We know that," her father shouted. "But your mother worries that something is going to happen to you and you'll end up dead in a fucking ditch so next time answer you goddamn phone!!"

He always shouted when he didn't need to. Crystle felt her own temper rising but held it under control. Raven had helped her learn that, and it had proved useful. She used to fight all of the time with them.

"I said I am sorry. That is all that I can do. Is there any dinner left?"

"Yeah, it's in the microwave. I didn't want to put it in the fridge in case you were hungry," her mother said as she sat back down near the television. Crisis averted.

"Thanks, mom." Crystle said as she went to the kitchen to warm up her dinner. It was her mom's homemade version of hambuger helper basically, ground beef with rotini pasta in a homemade tomato sauce and cheddar cheese. It was pretty good, even though reheating it dried it out a bit.

Returning to her room with her plate, she closed the door and sat down on her bed to eat.

"So," she said quietly. "Explain."

I have explained to you the basics of what the Underworld is, and that we are governed by monarchies.

"Yes, I know. I remember from my dreams as well."

Well, there is a bit of a hierarchy with rulers. There are the kings and queens of the kingdoms, and then there are the Elemental rulers, of which I am one. We basically have a control over that element in the world. For example, I can control the speed in which the Earth turns with enough concentration, as well as control the growth cycle of plants. The Elemental Thrones are not always hereditary, but the house of Shaldreth has held the Throne of Earth for six generations now, and for elves that is a long time. There is also a Light King and a Dark King, who control the day and night respectively. Above us are the Elders, then the Council, and finally the Gods.

"Okay. And what about the other stuff?"

When I was a child, one of my dearest friends was a girl named Bronwyn. She was a noble, her family were the royal alchemists. We played together, gossiped, etcetera. You know, the things that children do. When we were nearing adulthood her grandfather took up most of her time, training her... or so we thought. It finally makes some sense now.

"What do you mean?"

Bronwyn's grandfather was obsessed with his craft and with all science in general. He believed that if he could combine the forces together that it would be possible to control all aspect of the world. He basically wished to create a god, but that is not possible. I can make plants grow but I cannot return a dead plant to life once more, for that would go against the natural order and have negative effects even if it worked. We deduced that he had altered Bronwyn in some way to try and give her that power, which apparently created Sync. I don't know what exactly happened, but during an experiment Sync killed him before Bronwyn could exert the control to stop her. When Bronwyn tried to bring him back using this science and instead created a Death Gate.

Crystle paused, fork halfway to her mouth. "Huh? What the hell is a Death Gate?"

A rift in reality that links directly to some kind of void. It sucked in her whole family save her

"That is horrible!"

Yes, it was. To the Elves, to kill is an unforgivable act. To banish a soul to a dark abyss would be worse than death. On top of that, what they were doing attempted not only to usurp the powers of the Elemental Rulers, particularly the Earth King, but to usurp the powers of the gods themselves. She was spat on during the trial. Even I was cruel, because I was angry. Bronwyn was condemned to death for her crimes. I was only heir to the throne at the time, and I chose not to go to the execution. Despite the horrors of her crimes and my anger over them, I could not watch her die. Sync killed the executioner apparently so we had no choice but to banish Bronwyn. From that moment on she was a Dark Elf, an exile. Her skin was stained with chemicals to darken it, an outward sign of her banishment, and she was driven from Alganna. I never thought to see her again.

"How did you not recognize her?"

We knew that a split in personality had occurred within Bronwyn, but we never knew it went by the name Sync. However, Sarah looks remarkably like Bronwyn in the face, and it sparked my recognition.

"Oh. And what do you mean that it all makes sense now?"

Well, the last I heard of Bronwyn she was near the sea. I knew that she would be trying to still find a way to bring her family back, and I assume that Sync might have the same goal. Given her attitude towards others, it seems that Bronwyn was dominated... maybe destroyed, so Sync feels she can do it better. Then she finds herself reincarnated in Sarah, and so she does the same thing

"Uh... ok."

Go to sleep, Crystle. We must rise early tomorrow.

"Alright. Good night." Crystle put her plate back in the kitchen and got ready for bed. Tomorrow would prove interesting.

Raven walked the halls of the castle until she came to the balcony overlooking the courtyard. A sculpture stood there now, of a flock of doves. It was a memorial to the Ile'fange family and the headsman that Sync had killed.

"This is problem indeed. I only wonder if I can save her."

Sync put her hand in a pocket then took out a device. Her hand gripped the device and a video appeared. "It seems that I've broken through..." She said with a smirk. The was a dove that stayed on the balcony Raven sat on. The dove look just like all of the other ones. "Show video..." A holographic screen showed up infront of Sync. She sighed. The dove's view showed the memorial. "They still mourn for the dead... Death is a wonderful part of life." The dove then turned and looked at Raven. "I see you..." The dark elf said aloud. "There you are... You're going to have to wait though. Heh... She must know my whereabouts now that she knows I've come back." The dove turned revealing a piece of paper on its leg.

((it's in the message Elara =P))

Sync watched to see if Raven was going to see if the curiosity would strike her. On the header of the message there was a picture of the doll that she had replicated for Raven when they were kids on the right corner. On the left there was the family crest. It may have been a simple black and white square, the four sides of the square symbolized the for Graces that the Ille'fange gave to the elven people. To the north was Intelligence, the power of knowing will give hope to the future. To the east was Grace, the power of movement will guide us to the present. To the west was Strength, the power of force will protect our past, and to the South was alchemy, our beloved art. The black and the white on the crest symbolize the balance that the Light King and the Dark King bring to the world.

Raven looked at the message tied to the dove's leg. Gingerly untying it and unrolling it. As she read the message she felt the sadness again.

"I spat on you because I was commanded to do it, Bronwyn. Father was furious at what you'd done. He died shortly afterwards... you know how such death affects our hearts."

She examined the dove more closely, a very good replication.

"And your name will not be added to the memorial, because despite what 'Sync' says I do not believe you are dead. You're still in there, somewhere. It shows." She traced the picture of the doll with one of her long fingers, the only outward sign of her emotions.

"Your rage is nothing but a shield you raise to keep from facing the truth, you know that as well as I. I've alerted the guard that you've come back, you should leave now."

"Bronwyn..." Sync sighed. The dove flew away. "She's no longer here. She left after she fell into the sea." She jumped off of the roof and landed on the ground. She walked past a muscular man and bumped shoulders with him. Her hands were in her pockets.

"Hey... who do you think you are? Appologize."

"I will not, you are the one who has bumped into me. And besides....." She grabbed his wrist and he dropped a coin bag. "You stole my money...." Sync's grip grew as she began to crush his wrist. "I had my life stolen from me, I don't like my things being stolen."

Raven watched the dove fly away. Sighing, she made her way to the Record Chamber to begin updated the histories, now that she knew what had become of Bronwyn. With all of the cross-referencing she figured it would take up the rest of the time that Crystle slept. Tomorrow would be a difficult day indeed.

(Sorry. Was busy last week. But...for the sake of moving on...?)

For what must have been the eleventh time, Kate was slamming her fist down on her alarm clock.

The sun isn't even up yet... she thought glumly to herself. This time, she actually turned her alarm off, rather than hitting the snooze button once again.

The time was 5:00am, and she needed to be outside the school in a half hour.

She often thought her coaches to be brutal, making her team wake up and practice as early as they did. Three days out of the school week, and one morning out of her weekend were devoted to hockey. And that was just practice!

As per her usual routine, Katie simply rose from her bed, slipped out of her tanktop and pajama shorts and replaced them with sweatpants and a T-shirt. Her bag was ready and her equipment in the trunk of her car.

Groggily, she made her way down the stairs to her kitchen and threw together a bowl of cereal and ate it quickly. She never bothered to dress herself up before practice. They always managed time for showers afterward, and knew it was futile to maintain her appearance during practice.

Once finished her breakfast, she double checked her bag.

"Clothes. Towels. Shampoo. Deodorant...." she grumbled off the names of the belongings she had in her bag until she named them all.

Satisfied, she exited the house and started her car.
-------------------------------------------------------
After an hour of getting knocked all over the place, Katie was nestled safely in the desk of her first period class. She was always excused from homeroom on the days practice was held. The coaches simply did role call at practice and sent the list over to the school.

Today, she decided to put her long hair up into double frenchbraids, tucking the pieces that fell from her neck to her waist under the rest of her braided hair with bobby pins. Today she wore a baby blue button-down blouce and a mini-skirt, only for today she swapped the denim for a dark and light blue plaid. Her make-up was done as usual; there, but hardly visible, just enough to make her look clean and presentable.

She placed a hand to her mouth to stifle the yawn as she crossed her right leg over her left, waiting anxiously for her calculus class to end.

Why do they have to torture me with this first thing in the morning? She thougt grimly.

Sarah woke up in her bed. She looked at her hand it was crushing a model airplane she worked hard on building. "Syyyyync... What did you do?"

You're body is strange Dreck...

Sarah sighed as she got out of her bed and grabbed her gym bag. She got dressed into her PTs and grabbed the cube. "Sync you wanna go for a run instead?"

Uh... no...

Sarah smirked. You're lazy Sync... She looked at her watch. PT was later on in the morning, so she would take the gym bag and put it in her locker. Sarah wore her normal 80s attire. Tight black sleeveless shirt, a pair of black tight shorts and a blue sweat shirt that covered her chest and hung off the sides of her shoulders. The sleeves were so big that the looked about as big as a kimono. Her brown hair was down and brushed. She wore no make up. The sweat shirt was blue with clouds and a couple rainbows here and there. She opened her locker and then grabbed her book bag after that she slammed her gym bag in the locker. Sarah sat down in her desk then looked over as she grabbed a pencil from her book bag. The first thing she saw... Kate. "EEEEH?!" She never noticed that Kate was in the same Calculus class as her. Then again she couldn't notice Sync was always answering problems for her. Before Sarah could continue a sentence one of the girls from the Bimbo squad walked up and slammed their homework on her desk.

Sarah looked up. "............" Fear struck.

"You didn't show up to the past few meetings... So it's YOUR fault I got this F. You see this?"

Sarah looked down and began to close herself off from the girl.

"Why didn't you show up to this meeting? You know if I fail this class I won't get my scholarship, and it will all be your fault Sarah...."

Sarah sighed... She was this girl's superior in JROTC and she couldn't get her to shut up with just rank alone. Standing up to this girl would mean... would mean...

Sarah... Tell that bitch to quit whining, I'm getting tired of her voice. If she doesn't then I'll kill her myself.

Sarah looked to the side.

Kate looked back, the sounds disrupting her attempt to involve herself in a daydream before the teacher walked in.

"There's an empty seat beside me." She called back to Sarah, nonchalantly. She placed her book bag in the empty desk beside her. "Just move my shit outta your way." She added, as though her belongings had been there the entire time.

She eyed the girl with a cocked eyebrow, daring her to involve herself in Kate's exchange with Sarah.

Sarah nodded and moved out of her seat.

The girl looked at Kate then shook her head. She moved Kate's stuff out of the way then sat down and looked forward.

"Um... Sorry..." Sarah said looking at Kate. Sarah was mainly apologizing about Sync and her antics she pulled at the lake. It wasn't much, but an apology was better than nothing. There was nothing that Sarah could do to change it. Sarah took out the three day assignment that the were assigned in the class. It was the second day and Sarah had already finished it. Three days of math problems. That was a total of 35 equations that multiplied into two because of how long it took to finish them. Sarah sighed out of relief.

The complete opposite of me... if this was my turf she would've been dead. She better be glad I'm not in control or that pencil would be lodged in her neck.

Kate took her back pack and put it back beside her legs at her desk.

"Sorry?" she asked, as she leaned to the side to pull the blank assignment out of her bag.

She grinned sheepishly as she glanced at Sarah's finished paper.

"I'm a bit of a procrastinator." She admitted, placing the assignment on her desk. Luckily, she never got shit for her procrastination. In math at least. The teacher they had now had been Kate's teacher for several other math classes. While at the end of the day, she always managed to ace the material, math wasn't Kate's natural strength. Without the pressure of a deadline on the immediate horizon, she was dumb as a stump when it came to the subject. Once under pressure, her mind raced and the answers came to her easily. (OOC: one of my most annoying curses, lemme tell you.)

"Anyway...it's okay I guess...?" She said, her head tilted to the side in thought.

Then, the previous night's incidents came back to her.

"Oh!" She exclaimed in a hushed voice.

"I don't know or care what happened last night, to be perfectly honest with you. Just..." She paused and eyed the girls sitting in the back. "Sit with me from now on. Not gonna lie, your military buddies can kick my ass in a heartbeat...but, as long as you're not alone, you won't be such an easy target for them." She announced with a smile.

"It's okay... Major Brock assigned me to this squad to help them with their math and what not." Sarah said looking at Kate. "Besides, that's Shorter. She's a wimp when it comes to PT." Sarah smiled. "She can't touch me, but she won't let up on the verbal abuse..."

A grin played at the corners of her mouth.

"Verbal abuse 'eh?" She asked, finally allowing the grin to consume her. It was a mischevious little grin, and her brown eyes lit up.

"You're talking to Captian Douchebag here." She said proudly. "We'll get her." She winked.

She just shrugged.

"I'm too lazy to plan. Nonchalant bullying is a preference of mine."

Her eyes narrowed as she looked over at Sarah.

"Speaking of bullying though..." She added. "I have codes. Keep the playing field fair, otherwise you're just as much of a sissy as the one you tormented." She says, as though scolding someone, only playfully.

She then softened her expression, turning her smug grin into a gentle smile. "I'm sorry...I don't quite fully understand what happened last night, so I don't know how to differentiate between who I'm actually addressing."

Sarah looked at Kate. "Oh?..... Hold on... Sync found a way to get even. Watch my face...."

Sarah's eyes went to a deeper green and her face had a very wide smirk. "Captain Douchebag... Hm... Sounds like a fun game. I want to join." Sync said. She took out Sarah's cellphone. Her fingers zipped through the codes on her cellphone. She pressed the okay button then pointed to Shorter. "Watch..."

Shorter opened her cellphone then looked at it. Her eyes opened wide. "I'm taking a hall pass!" She shouted then ran out of the room.

Sync watched her as she ran out. She came back and her face was mortified. Suddenly everyone else's cellphone went off. It was a picture text of her back in 3rd grade when she weighed over 180 pounds, had braces, and frizzy red hair.

Kate quickly threw her hands to her mouth to stiffle her laughter.

"That one was unfair...hilarious....but unfair nonetheless." She smirked. "Trust me, it's much more satisfying when you stick to a "code" when it comes to dealing with people."

Flipping her cell phone closed with one hand, she reached up and gently grabbed hold of the girl's arm as she shamefully made her way back to her seat.

"It took me years to grow into my nose." She said to her, gently tapping the bridge of her nose. "And even longer for the fruits of playing sports to look like muscle, and not just added baby fat." She shrugged. "So, why don't you leave Sarah alone, and I'll help fix whatever mess this will cause for you?" She asked.

However, without waiting for a reply, she let go of the girls arm and turned back to Sync. "Codes. Keeping the playing field even. Acting only when instigated with. And when you're REALLY feeling tough, give them an advantage."

She shook her head disapprovingly as she spoke, but giggling all the same. "I'll teach ya."

She still wasn't taking the whole thing seriously. This "other person" that revealed themselves the night before. Truthfully, it felt like a dream. So, until she figured everything out, Katie decided to simply go along with everything. Afterall, if it wasn't a dream, she didn't want to be disrecpectful of those directly involved with what occurred. Katie just wanted to find John...to know if he was alright.

At that moment the teacher walked in and Katie's eyes were set to the front of the classroom until the class was over.

The bell rang signaling the end of the period. Crystle stuffed her notebook back into her bag and made her way out of her English class. Up next was A.P. Biology, and she was a bit apprehensive after last night. Today's attire was similar to the day before's, black cargo jeans and a black shit emblazoned with a picture of the band Coal Chamber inside of a television. It made her think of a goth Telletubby to be honest, but she like it anyway.

She walked into the biology classroom and took her customary seat at the front. After pulling out her notebook and the class text she paused to adjust her spiked bracelet and waited for the other students to walk in.

Sarah looked at Kate and smiled. "Thanks." She wanted to thank someone who can understand what was wrong with her for the longest time. "Maybe I can teach this language that is really neat sometime. I learned it real fast when Sync used it a lot. She seems to love this language." Sarah took out a peice of paper and drew out beautiful symbols. "It says "friend", I want to have more of them, so I figured I could start making them this year." Sarah grabbed her books and walked out of the room.

Down the hall Sarah walked to her next class.

Sarah walked into class and looked around. She saw Crystle and with a huge smile she walked over and sat beside her. Sarah smiled happily then looked at Crystle. "How are you? Sleep well?" Sarah stretched then looked at her watch. After this block, it was time for Ranger PT. Which was almost too much for any normal student. The people chosen for this team are the best of the best and they always brought the Ranger Challenge trophy home. Always.

"Okay class, let's begin," the teacher said writing on the board. "Today we're partnering up to disect a shark head."

Sarah blinked. Then looked at the teacher. "Wait... what?"

"I have paired you all up into groups of two, so that those of you who can't stand taking something apart, can just watch."

"Thomas, you're going to work with Stephanie. Ashley you'll work with Britney...." The teacher went down the list. It seemed like it took for ever. Finally she looked at her list and pointed at Sarah. "Sarah, since you seem to get into arguments with everyone else here, the only person you really haven't disagreed with is Crystle. You're working with her today."

Sarah looked at Crystle. "Uh..." Her mind switched over to when Sync attacked Raven. I hope Crystle doesn't have any hard feelings...

Fuck...

What's wrong Sync?

You have fun with this one... I was hoping to take that head apart... It would've been fun... But no, I have to work with.........her.
