In retrospect, I'll most likely rent it before I buy it, just to see.

Do you actually have somewhere where they said that? Cause when GI had the first exclusive article about Force Unleashed, they commented that there would be a Wii version but it "wouldn't be the saber swinging game everyone is waiting for." However, the game version of the Clone Wars movie, is.

First paragraph.

It's not going to my super realistic, but it's definitely going to be better than most sword fighting we've seen before. There was also a video explaining it in more detail somewhere on IGN, but I'd rather not go through all of their videos just to get that for you. Feel free to look if you want.

Just wanted to make sure you actually saw that somewhere, and weren't making assumptions.

Right now, my biggest beef with the game is the lightsaber. Two things:

1) You don't cut people with it. What the hell is this, the lightsaber lite? It's like one of the training sabers, and you're just using it to beat the shit out of people. And yet it cuts the floor and walls.

2) The way he holds it. Yeah, it looks all cool, stylized, and dynamic; but it's really inefficient and would provide next to no defense.

Also, the AT-ST. That was a bitch. Whenever it went to the cinematic where you do the timed button presses, there'd be no warning, so I'd be in the middle of mashing X, and I'd lose right away.

Well, would you really expect to ever see a Star Wars game where you can brutally chop people up into pieces with Lightsabers?

I'll agree with your other complaint, the way he holds it. I definitely am not putting any technical thought into it, but it'd just look cooler if he held it more traditonally.

I seem to recall that Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast had it a little bit of limb dismemberment. Not very graphic, buit it was definitely there. The sad thing though is that the Force Unleashed won't be able to have mods that make cutting people apart really realistic, since it's not on computer.

Actually, I don't remember where, but I do recall reading about a sword fighting style that involved holding the sword backwards. It was far more acrobatic than most fighting styles, and it looked really cool. It wasn't neccesarilly an overall better sword fighting style, as it was nearly impossible to stab with, but using it could easily throw your opponents off, giving you the upper hand.

I'm sure that that's not what the makers of the game were thinking of, since they were probably just looking for something that sounded cool, but oh well.

Yeah, old games let you cut people apart, and those were last gen. I'm sure the 360 could handle it.

And I'll admit that the way he holds the lightsaber sure looks cool, as long as you don't think about it.

They'll sell more copies with a T rating and our awesome nerd overlord Lucas is all about money.

I have a nice mod for JA that lets you chop them up with very graphic bloodspray!

MIld dismemberment would pass in a T rated game, as long as there isn't blood (which wouldn't happen anyway, because the wound is instantly cauterized). After all, the movies are PG-13 - the movie equivalent of a T rating - and people get cut up in those.

Yeah, rented it. It's pretty fun.

Don't know much else to say about it. I'm liking it, and will do another playthrough for holocrons and junk (as well as do harder difficulties, possibly), but I doubt it'll be a long lasting thing for me.

The apprentice, by the way, looks way better in Soul Calibur IV than he does in this. Kind of funny.

I got the last copy in the store on opening day.

I haven't had much of a chance to play it, but so far, I think it's really awesome. When I managed to blow apart corridors of storm troopers, I felt very happy.

So far though, then my favorite part of the game are the challenges in the training rooms. The times when they put in a huge number of enemies and tell you to kill all of them however you see fit. It's an awesome part of the game.

MY GOD!

The Star Destroyer is by far one of the worst boss fights in modern gaming. It made me want to smash my controller and punch my cat. It took me three hours total, in all my attempts. Christ, I'm glad it's over. Seriously, that boss fight ensures that I will never play through this game again.

EDIT: The rest of the game is badass, though.

I had a problem with the Star Destroyer for the first time as well... But then my friend gave me some advice:

Hold down the block button then spam the grip button. Star Destroyer = easy after that.

The Star Destroyer was annoying, but I did it pretty fast. I would just grip the TIE Fighters, and make another crash into it. They went by fast.

The Star Destroyer itself, however, takes long to bring down. Annoyingly long.

I realized I could use lightning for most of them... after 2 hours. I found it near impossible to grip them with the targeting system.

But it pissed me off whenever I'd be grabbing it, and the TIE fighters would show up before I even got to start pulling it down. And, of course, the level right after it is equally as frustrating...

Spoiler:
Palpatine is a wuss.

I liked the final level, except for the gravity lift parts near the end. That level is also glitched for me, in the bonus objectives. No matter what, it just says these three things:

DEFAULT TEXT
0/500000 Force Points
0/15 Holocrons

I've gotten probably all Holocrons, and of course it's impossible to have zero Force Points. So...yeah.

It did that for me for the last few levels. Pissed me off.

It was overall a good game, but there were a few levels that killed the experience for me, and ruined the entire game.
