My friend is planning on getting a tattoo in invisible ink that glows when it's under a black light. Do they really have those?

I don't know if they do, but why? Is he going to carry around a little pocket black light and go "Hey, check out my tattoo." *click*. If it just glew (glowed?) in the dark, that would be different, but this just seems weird. Unless he clubs a lot, and even then...

I think he want's it to only show up in clubs and stuff cause he doesn't want a tat to show all the time. It's supposed to go all up his arm.

I have nothing against tattoo's at all but I'm with FX here ... I really don't see to point in getting a glow in the dark one.

Hrm, I could see the benefit in that (is it really even possible? Dunno, maybe?). I mean, a lot of employers out there do get really uptight about hiring people with visible tattoos, especially if you get them on your hands, neck or face which don't cover up too easily with regular business attire.
I suppose if that what he really wants and it's just for partying and such, what the hell, it's his choice and he's not stuck with something he can see at all times and probably end up regretting that way. On Googling it now (http://www.tattooartists.org/Gal3975_UV_Blacklight_Ink.asp), the skeletal one does look pretty cool. Meh, it's his choice. Tattoos can be expensive depending on the complexity, how long it takes and how much ink it uses. If he wants to fork over the cash for a tat that'll probably only be seen 1/1000th of the time, that's his decision. |

That's badass! I would get for one. Maybe have a regular tattoo, then have some creepy shading done in the other kind of ink, so you would only get the full message of the tattoo under the black light. (if that made any sense)

The only worse glow in the dark invention I can think of is glow in the dark sunglasses.

One thing I do wonder is if you can still see the scars or if these things really are just completely invisible.
Looking at some pictures of it online, it looks like the scars are still very visible when the black light isn't on: http://www.bmezine.com/tattoo/uv001.html For me, the fact that you can still see where it is sort of defeats the purpose of having it only show up under UV light. Scarring can look cool, but meh. |
