Not it's not a problem with my new laptop it's with a friend of mines. When she presses the power button on her laptop it appears to power on. The lights all go on and all that except the screen doesn't go on. Also it doesn't make any noise like windows has booted. Does anybody know anything about this? I have yet to do a really through google hunt for a solution but I have poked around.

I'm having somewhat of a similar issue with my Dell Latitude D820. It won't seem to turn on when it's not plugged in to an outlet (with a full battery of course).

I did a more thorough Google search and found out that alot of people are having problems with this on their HP dv9000 and that it is a problem with the motherboard. They had to be sent in to get a new motherboard. Not too sure about the details but you might have to pay $500 dollars for the repair. Maybe unless you have an extended warranty. Call Dell and see what they say.
