Whenever my friend tries to boot her computer it starts normally and then a blue screen pops up and says "Autocheck program not found- Skipping autocheck." Then it reboots the computer and shows the same message and just reboots forever till you shut if off manually. I tried starting it in safe mode but that didn't work and there are no discs in it or usb drives or anything it is trying to boot from. Anybody know how to fix it?

Its a hidden NTFS issue there is another partition possibly on the drive, NucklearKnight you live petaluma if I remember correctly. I can probably fix it I just finished fixing Mitches girlfriends computer and I've got mitchs computer and I'm working on it now.

But back to the thread, whats happening is that Windows is trying to boot and there is either another partition on the drive or a another operation system installed on the computer. All that needs to be done is setting the partition to active. I found someone post on the matter.

You can download a free tool called "PTEDIT" (do a Google search with "PTEdit download") which runs from a DOS boot disk and will allow you to simulate the situation, so that you can see the results. For your system partition, type "17" (which is hexadecimal) or select from the list options "hidden NTFS" and it will automatically select the numerical value for you. Tell it to save the changes, and you will get exactly the results you described. This is most common for people running dual-boot systems under Linux.

By the way this is an Old problem how old is the computer your friend is using?

So what exactly do I have to do. I didn't see any other partitions on her computer. How do I access this other partition and delete it?
