Here's the deal: some of the people in our group that have recently graduated, have dated girls much younger than them, and I have ranted a lot about it. Now, there's a girl who seems to be interested in me, but she's a freshman! She's effing 15! So, if I go out with her, I will be a huge hippocrite. If not, well... I still haven't had a girlfriend...

My friend said I should just say that I was wrong about it, then I wont be a hippocrite, but in concept I still feel that it is wrong.

FUCK!

You're 17, right? And she's 15? Dude, that's not that bad.

I've always thought two years being as big a gap to go with when in High School. Kind of stretching it, but it's not like you're Doctor Pedo now or that she's just getting there (like if she was 13).

The main question is, are you actually attracted to her? Do you like her? Or would you just do it because you "still haven't had a girlfriend"?

She's not a girl that I would consider dating if I didn't think she was interested in me. But I she's nice/attractive enough where I could see myself dating her.

Speaking from the point of view of one of the people in your groups ex girlfriend I think you are taking age to seriously. I mean I dated him when I was 14 and he was 19 and I very much agree thats at least a little odd. I understand what you are getting at though, after you friends dating someone younger/much younger and you have bugged them about it.. but now you might date someone younger. Ironic.

I am with Politician. If it turns out that she is interested and if you are interested you should at least give it a try. That's not an big age difference at all in my opinion. .

EDIT: No, I wasn't four. XD

Admit you were wrong? Dude...Wtf, whoever said that needs to be kicked in the head. Seriously. If that's how you truly felt at a certain point, then you weren't wrong. Now, if you were a douche about your opinions, then THAT could be considered wrong, but I'm not going to go into specifics of the situation. If you had an opinion...the act of having an opinion is NOT wrong. <---one thing I wanted to address.

Another...15? 17? NOT a big difference. Also, hypocricy is one thing...change is another. So what if you grew a bit and your thoughts and opinions changed? That happens! They only way I would consider it hypocritical (if you dated said chick) is if your attitude was "Well...it's wrong for everybody else...just not for me.)

Dude, there's so many levels of this situation...such as those mentioned, and the part about 15 and 17 not being THAT big of a deal, but if you know someone who has a larger age gap...you're entitled to feel that it's odd, and NOT be a hypocrite.

I dunno. Why this thread irked me a bit, I don't know. Must be seriously PMSing or something. Haha. But seriously. You're not wrong, as far as the whole "hypocricy" thing goes. If you're interested, go for it. If not, then don't. It's up to you.

Another thing that occured to me: chances are her parents will not let her date a senior.

Oh well, it all doesn't really matter until I find out if she's interested in me.

When I was 18, I dated a 30-year-old.

And when I was in high school, my boyfriend was 3 years older than I and he kept thinking people would call him a child molester for it.

Matters of the heart are really tricky and they never seem to follow any logic. You'll promise yourself one thing and then someone comes along and destroys that.

Seriously, if she's only 2 years younger than you, just let go of your reservations and see if she's interested. Better to swallow your pride and be happy on this one. Stick to your guns on political views and other more serious things.

What everyone else said basically, two years at that age isn't a big deal at all. Heck, I have a friend (now 20) who's dated two Juniors ...

And I don't think you really have to admit to your friend you were wrong, just that you changed your mind and thought about it (though that could be the same thing, oh well).

Well, in retrospect, it wasn't really the numbers of their ages... more the stages of their lives, I suppose.

With the first, he was out of high school, she was just starting. It was just that, not the three year difference.

With Kyoku, it's more that I've known her my entire life (well, not quite since she's a few years younger than me) and she's almost like a sister to me (or at least a close cousin) and when I found out she had dated a 19 year old three months after the fact, especially that specific 19 year old, I sort of overreacted.

It's all moot now, cause she doesn't like me.

Bummer man. I really hate the feeling of thinking somebody likes you and then finding out that they don't. I feel for you.

And I was just about to throw my two cents in! My friend is 17 and is dating a 21 year old. She's in high school and hes been out for a while. Not a problem at all.

*gasp* I thought I was perfect for you and I'm 19! You are a liar! I'm in tears now because I feel so betrayed!!!!

Anyway, FX, do it, why the hell not. And her parents not letting her date a senior on principle is stupid, they'd have to meet you first. And hope that your geeklyness has at least given you respect for elders. So just meet her parents and make a good impression, then let them find out you're a senior. It's only fair to them.

Well, at least now you don't have to choose?

Sorry, that was fairly mean, but two years are seriously not that much. I might actually reccomend to yuor friends that you were wrong, even if she isn't interested in you.
