It's been like that many times before. I don't remember the old cartoons 100%, but remember Beast Wars? Same thing there. It's just like say, you get up to get a drink. You get up at a normal speed. But if you're getting SHOT AT like they were, you're gonna get up hella fast.

Yes, but there was one or 2 times when they took too long during a fight. Especially that super long end fight.

IT's called a movie. IT's more dramatic if they take a while, and cooler if they can do it in half a second.

They switch back and forth, between cool and dramatic.

Robots like to be dramatic too!

I also love their disregard for human life. How many hundreds of people do you think got killed in the battle in the city? I mean, they never show it, but it's impossible that it didn't happen. Flying through buildings, crushing cars, rolling in the streets. A lot of people must have died. The Autobots say they are protecting humans, but in the movie it was more that they didn't want to directly hurt them. I mean, when Optimus was hanging from Megatron and they flew through the building, don't you thtink Optimus could have veered them to the right, and they could have skimmed the building or something? That would have been a lot better.

SPOILERS

And they didn't want you to feel sad when Jazz died. If they did, they would have done something to make you feel that way. Instead, the characters went "Oh, well." so the audience goes "Oh, well." WIth halfway decent filmmaking, you can make the audience sad about any characters death. But they didn't do anything to make you feel that way. Not only that, but they killed the character who was in it the least, and had the least character development.

/SPOILERS

And why was it only in America? This was an end of the WORLD situation, but only America did anything. I've noticed this happening in a lot of end of the world movies.

"The world is going to be destroyed. Never fear AMERICA is here!"

Transformers, The Core, Armageddon, Independence Day, to name a few.

SPOILERS AHEAD

American movies? I don't know.

Anyways, I'm seeing it again this weekend. My god it was absolutely incredible. I think I just woke up one day and decided to have a real open mind about it and to stop comparing it to the old series and so forth. I mean some of the biggest diehard Transformers fans will tell you Beast Wars sucked, but I loved it. And I loved this too, I went in not knowing what I'd think of it ... but I walked out with my pants completely blown off.

However, it wasn't perfect. These are some things I didn't really like about it:
- The spiderbot Transformer got a little old after awhile. At times it seemed like they wanted it to be funny and cute, while it was for awhile, I just think that thing had a little too much camera time.
- Most of the actors sucked except for Shia (yes, I'm a fan of his). Megan Fox was okay but she seems kind of slutty to me sometimes her acting just wasn't that believable though and just about all of the other characters sucked. The CSI cop from Sector 7 was awesome (or whatever he's from).
- The random rock music that popped up during some of the scenes really ruined some of the moments for me. Just give me epic music.
- Needed more Starscream and obviously lacked a lot of other Transformers, but it honestly seems like we'll be seeing a sequel.
- Some stuff dragged out a bit. I wanted more Transformers.

I pretty much creamed my pants every single time Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) spoke. It was absolutely amazing and it seemed like they nailed the rest of the characters.

Some of the humor, as cheesy as it was, was really great. Like when Sam was in his room and his mom asked if he was masterbating ... haha. That whole scene with them and the Transformers dodging around the house was great, it was childish and cheesy, but look at the Generation 1 series ... it had plenty of that.

Anyways, yeah. Best movie I've seen this year.

Why was it all about america you ask?

I bought the prequel novel a few weeks back, finished the thing in about five hours. Turns out, back when they launched Apollo 11, Sector 7 secretly launched a second ship, built directly from bits and pieces of Megatron (aka the Ice Man). Long story short, the crew gets sucked into a wormhole when the ship malfunctions, and they end up stranded in some distant corner of the galaxy. Guess who shows up?

Spoiler:
Autobots. Decepticons. Huge battle in space. The ships crew radios back about the aliens over some fancy FTL transmission device, and lets America know these things are out there, and they'll be coming here some day, looking for the cube. Then they kamikaze their ship into Starscream's face so the transformers can't follow them home. Wicked awesome.

So yeah, some part of our government knew those things were out there. They weren't exactly ready for them, but since we had the Big Bad Guy in lockdown, it makes sense that we'd be the ones fighting them. And we had what they wanted.

Also, point of interest: The boombox was probably a really badly done attempt at Soundwave. Emphasis on BADLY.

EDIT: Just found this. slightly related to topic

LOL POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

I'm gonna be one to bitch and say I really actually didn't like the movie that much. Asides from the action, it really seemed pretty bad to me. It's like they just threw a storyline onto ZOMG EPIC BATTLES. And as Xeo said, a lot of the acting was pretty bad. I also found the movie to be quite racist in many ways. Unlike most movies where there's usually some unneccesary stuff, this seemed like it lacked some things. Some parts just happened so randomly. In general, it's pretty much a pointless movie covered in great action and high quality effects.

EDIT: It also had some pretty good humor.

I told you I'm not lying. It should be in the Box office this week I believe. Now I need to see the movie once I got some earning money.

I just saw it last night and it was extremely awesome. To be honest when I first saw the previews for it I did not like what I was seeing. But as the previews got better it captured my interest more. If my girlfriend had not said that she wanted to see it I probably would not have gone to see it.

That is true. There was very little character development and whenever a transformer died it was no big deal. I barely even noticed that Jazz died. I mean if they really wanted to they could have made it sad that he died. I mean I just watched King Arthur and when the guy that saved the little boy died it was really sad even though you barely knew him.

Yeah, I saw it last night with my girlfriend and buddy, and HOLY SHIT, it blew all my misconceptions OUT OF THE WATER.

It was so amazing, I left the theater as pumped as 300 made me. I came expecting shit to be thrown upon my childhood robot heroes, but hot damn, they did me proud.

Siobhan said the character devolpment was lacking, and in some respects, I agree. The characters were for the most part just action heroes, but hot damn, they did their job and brought the action.

i saw it last night at the 11:40pm veiwing w/ friends after work. i made $27 in tips that night, and i spent $30 -.-' it was straight after work, so i was starving.

i bought their combo, which is 2 medium drinks, 1 large popcorn, and i added nacho's for a discounted $3, instead of 6.

now, no one told me that, a combo, really isnt a combo, because if you'd buy'em seperately, it would all equal the same. i was too retarded to do the math, while in line for a good 15 min -.-' $4.50 for one soda, $4.50 for the second soda, and $7 for the large popcorn, and $3 for the "discounted" nacho's, which turns out, is a differerntly smaller nacho than the regular. the way they had things written, should be illegal. it was like, instead of $6 for the nacho's, if you buy a combo, you get it for $3. which is great, but noooo, that nacho's totally different from the $6 nacho. so WTF should i buy a combo, to get a discounted price on the $6 nacho, if it's not even the $6 nacho?! WHY SHOULD I BUY A COMBO, IF I CAN GET ALL THAT SEPERATELY FOR THE SAME PRICE?!

so $11 for tix, and $19 for food.

next day, i get heartburn, because i ate so much junk for dinner

but back on the movie, i dunno, either i was really tired at midnight watching it, or it wasnt that good? some of the fight scenes, especially the last one, dragged on too long =/ i didnt really pay attention much

My encounter with the autobots was a very tragic one indeed.

It ended with me getting a refund in the tickets I bought.... not because I hated it.. but because there was a HUGE lightning storm and the power went out RIGHT when bumblebee began to transform. T_______T
