No one outside of Warner Brothers is entirely sure if this is official or just a make-up test that they're going to play around with (most likely the case considering the fact that he's holding up a color chart). Anyway, since the announcement of his playing Joker, some months ago, I still haven't developed my stance on it. Simply put I hope Chris Nolan doesn't go the path of the many Batman directors before him and make it so outwardly unbelievable by miscasting celebrities. I'd rather they get a talented nobody than a somebody who doesn't fit the part at all. We'll see. Any thoughts? |

| Mark Hammill would have rocked as the Joker, but I suppose with the makeup he does sorta look like a decent Joker. Almost looks like it could be a younger Jack Nicholson Joker. The hair needs work though. | |||

| Hell, if Jack Nicholson can play Joker, anything's possible.
At least Mark Hamill can one-up everybody and say he's been Joker longer than anyone by doing the voice on the cartoon series and doing it every time the character guests in another series. He was Cocknocker for crying out loud.  |

| Frankly, I think it's good that they're going to try and possibly reinterpret the Joker. I feel this series took Batman and made it something different, a different interpretation on the whole Gotham universe.
If he doesn't play a good Joker, whatever, at least they're trying to make something new instead of just making the same thing over and over again. I'm excited to see how Heath takes the Joker. |

| I don't mind a reinterpretation. It's the sequel to Batman Begins for crying out loud--the movie that put 40-inch Hummer tires on the Batmobile and acts like the other movies don't exist--so interpretation isn't only expected, it's encouraged.
My qualm lies in casting Heath Ledger, though. I like the guy. I especially liked him in "Roar" (that Fox adventure/fantasy show he did in the late-mid-'90s that no one seems to remember, but that I loved oh so much). But is he really Jack Napier? Maybe? Don't know. Not meaning to question Nolan's master plan, considering how well it turned out last time, but that really stumped a lot of us comic geeks. |

| I really didn't know who Christian Bale was until I saw Batman Begins, and he was Batman. Like others have said, I'd be perfectly fine if they casted a nobody who could end up pulling it off perfectly, just like Christian Bale kind of did (I mean he wasn't that big before the movie, right?).

| Lots of interesting comments in this thread I'd like to address...so bear with me.
That movie by Sandy Collora was amazing. I am just beginning to take my classes for film (I plan on being a director) and I have already learned about some of the things to look for. The opening was breath taking...the scene where Barman jumped down and the water splashed up...beautiful. When Batman was crouched down and his cape all around him...spectacular. I was a bit thrown off when they said Heath Ledger was playing the Joker, but Elara has a very good point. He does seem to be like a younger Jack Nicholson, and in my personal opinion, the man is a nut. Who better to play a nutty character? I think Mr. Ledger will end up doing just fine. I looked over the link Byte posted and I have no qualms with the cast of this one. Maggie will play a fine leading lady I think. I am absolutely stoked for this new Batman. As Cairoi pointed out the "interpretation" part of it...Batman, to me, is one of the craftiest superhero movies I have yet to see. While the later ones weren't AS appealing to me, I sit and take each one as it is. I do not compare them to the others. I do not compare them to the comics or the cartoons. Which goes for anything I guess. If you take it as it is, then you will find you are able to enjoy it to the fullest extent. (I LOVED the third Harry Potter movie because I have trained my brain to not be so comparative. I didn't think of the book once. I just watched it as it was.) As for Christian Bale...he is kinda big, but not big enough to ruin the part I don't think... |

Beyond that, it looks like it'll possibly even top the first Begins, which won't be easy at all. I can't believe how incredibly amazing it looks. EDIT: DAMN I figured that would happen. Well, keep your eyes and ears out there at digg or something. I looked around at youtube but they don't have it at all. This trailer was actually pure in-movie footage and like 3-4 minutes long.
