Here is a link to something my friend wrote, pulled from various sources.
I will contribute to this later, but as I stated in the Satanist thread, I'm feeling lazy! So... have women finally won? I will give an example of why I think so in a later post, but first, discuss? |

There remains sexism on both ends of the spectrum. If we look at media today, often on television shows or movies there's a smart, beautiful wife burdened with an idiotic, fat husband who fucks everything up or doesn't know how to raise the kids, while the same time there are plenty of images in the media pressuring women to follow sexist standards etc. etc. We are trying to balance and create equality by hurting the opposite sex, but the only way we can create equality is if things are actually EQUAL, lol. People don't seem to realize that and I guess prefer the "let's hurt them for all the hurt they caused us in the past cause we can get away with it cause we're a minority" route. I guessssssssss I'll argue if presented with an opposing arguement~ | |||

i dont get it. i read it, and it's bias to the extreme. i'm for female rights, and all that, but this "essay" was really bad.
she takes excerpts out of context, manipulated facts, and OVERGENERALIZED too much. like those little boys being arrested for touching. that's insane. anyone under the age of 12, under the law, are ignorant of right and wrong, and cannot be convicted of crimes, unless proven otherwise. i can't believe a SIX yr old, or even EIGHT yr old would be arrested for touching another girl's nondeveloped breast. as for "One mother says 'This hypocritical society keeps reminding boys that gender equality is a one-way street. In every town, for example, it's OK to have a "girls-only" soccer league, but boys' teams are not allowed to exclude girls. My 10-year-old cousin put it quite succinctly when he asked: "Why is it OK for girls to wear shirts that say 'Girl Power,' but there's no shirts that say 'Boy Power'?" know the law! girls can join other sports teams, as well as boys, if there isn't another team for that specific gender. EX: if there isnt already an ALL female football team, a female may join the male team. if there's already a female team, she may not join the male team. obv it's OK to have a "girls-only" soccer league, because there's prob already a "boys-only" league in that same town. WTF she really needs to work on her sentence structure. i don't understand this sentence at all! "What's happening to boys is played out at our universities under the guise of speech codes (The Shadow University) and Women's Studies where girls are unnecessarily scared senseless of males then learn to despise them as threats (Feminism And Domination), all the while as boys vanish from campus." overall, i didn't like the essay. not because i'm a guy, but because it was horribly written. it was not organized well. i still don't understand how women have won the war. all the essay talked about was how women got more this, and more that. obviously they are getting "more" things, but that doesnt mean they are AHEAD of men. |

I do agree about the organization of this... like I said, my friend wrote it...
as far as "EX: if there isnt already an ALL female football team, a female may join the male team. if there's already a female team, she may not join the male team." Not true... my sister didn't join the all-girls team for football, but was accepted to the 'normal' (men's) Jr Varsity team. But if guy tried to join the "powder puff football team," they wouldn't let him. A couple specific examples as to why I think women are taking femminism to the extreme: My mother owned a janitorial company. Because she was female, she got a 10% lean on her bids. Meaning, if she was 9% higher than the lowest male bidder, and offered the same exact contract as him, they had to pay her extra because she was female. Not sure if that's county/state/whatever wide, but I thought that was really messed up. Another: I work at an insurance company. I see that women have routine women's care benefits on almost every policy. And when there is also routine adult benefits, women get an anual adult AND an anual women's exam. However, in the less frequent cases where there are routine MEN's benefits, they are more often than not COMBINED with the routine adult benefits. Men get one exam, short and sweet. And it's usually not anual unless they are age 60 and over. I know that this is because women have more to be concerned about, but to me it seems like men should be able to. Equality, right? A woman who has NO history of breast cancer in her family can get a mammogram yearly, however, if a man has a strong family history of prostate cancer and his doctor decides that it is necessary for him to have a yearly exam, those exams will not be covered unless they fall within the frequency limitations on his policy. (Oh, and I haven't read that 'essay' since it was posted, so if you have a specific point for me to look up, let me know and I will re-read. I am a little fuzzy. ) |

I know that it's just an LJ post... but dear gods that was unprofessional. Spelling errors and no real citation of sources.
I agree with the main point of the article though, I do think that in many ways feminism has gone too far. Men and women should be equal, balanced. Our brains have been proven to work differently, complementary... neither should be dominate or it throws that off. The part about the little boys being charged with sexual harrassment... while I'm sure the idiot parents tried, I want to see proof of that. I mean, that is just so unbelievably wrong. |
