So, Capcom's new game is out and it sure has gotten a lot of hate with reviewers and whatnot. But when you skim the GameFAQ's forums, and play online for a bit, it just seems to get worshipped.
I'm honestly loving it so far. All admit, the gameplay itself is quite simple (some call it new age Contra, and I can definitely agree). Its a gun fest, and most of the bosses have typical "weakspots" that need to be shot to take them down. But I don't think that matters when you realize how beautiful this game is in its own right. You're scaling mountains, gigantic stories high buildings. And then the boss fights are just downright incredible and epic, some of the best I've ever seen. The scale of some of the bosses is tremendous, and I'd go to say they're up there with the bosses of Shadow of the Collosus, if not even bigger. Music is pretty epic at times too. The characters and the plot don't seem mind blowing, but it doesn't seem bad either. Voice acting is fine and everything. There's probably a dozen or so weapons, and then a dozen or more mech's that you can eventually control at some points throughout the game (its not forced, you get in and out of them at your own will. Though they seem essential for most bosses). And the multiplayer is just amazing. The levels are taken straight from the campaign, and I've been getting into 8 vs 8 ranked matches easily. And there's always mech's and whatnot all over the maps. Its pretty intense and fun. Overall, I don't see how this game has gotten so much hate. Its a great action game with a classic shooter vibe to it. And its hard. With incredible multiplayer to boot. Definitely on the list of must own 360 titles from me. |

I haven't seen any hate for this game yet. All I've seen is good comments.
I own the game, but I haven't played it yet. I never really feel like sitting down and playing a game. This weekend I spent some time watching my friend play it though. He has an HDTV so it makes it enjoyable to watch too. I must say though, from what I've seen, the game is awesome. The graphics are great, the gameplay is awesome, and most importantly, the bosses are fantastic. The bosses make this game worth the play by themselves. No, I haven't played it, but from what I saw, it makes me want to actually spend time in front of the TV playing it. Capcom has just been doing great jobs with games lately. |

Ha, you own it but haven't played it? Isn't this game for the Xbox 360, I can't remember exactly? From what it seems on the previews, it looks awesome and I wish to play it. Unfortunately none of my friends got any new game systems for X-mas, but thats besides the point. I'm thinking about purchasing an Xbox 360, would you recomend this game?

I play this over my friend's house and it was awesome. My favorite parts have to be the boss battles, but I was having trouble beating the VS boss battle. Plus the online play is very intense.

The boss battles are pretty epic because the bosses themselves can be freaking huge. Some of them are up there with some of the colossi from Shadow of the Colossus. And they're taken down somewhat like many Zelda bosses. You can't really just shoot them, instead you have to find their weaknesses and take those down and whatnot.
And online play is just amazingly fun. I'm still playinng it pretty often, and I'd go to say I've enjoyed it even more than Gears of War. The only downfall is that the single player is extremely short. Probably just as long as Gears of War. But, its still really fun, and something you could probably go through multiple times. If not, there's the awesome multiplayer that'll surely keep you busy for a long time. |

Sorry for the bump, but... XEO, IF YOU EVER ACCEPT MY FRIEND REQUEST FOR XBL, I WANT TO PLAY YOU ONLINE IN THIS. I don't care if it's against each other or if it's a large team match where we're on the same team. Please accept my request.

I havent played the game yet. But most of my friends have told me it was great.
However, only thing they diddnt like was something about a whole core-elemental thingie that you had to collect to keep warm...can someone explain that to me? IF it makes sence...Ill just have to play the game myself and see what they diddnt like about it. |

"T-ENG", or just energy. Basically warmth to keep you alive in that kind of weather.
Its really going to be hard to explain this. In single player, its your health. If it reaches 0, you're dead. Though you can't survive explosions and bullets left and right, but that part of your health regenerates. Think of this part as your shield while the energy is your actual HP. By killing monsters and enemies they drop more energy, and there's boxes and barrels throughout levels to keep you energized. Seriously, its not that big of a deal at all. I went through several levels maxing out my energy to 9,999 and it was practically never a problem, to the point that I didn't even care to look at it. Though, I do hear it makes it more challenging for the harder difficulties (I just went through the game on normal so far). Multiplayer wise, it isn't your health, but its essential for some things such as controlling mech's, and using weapons that use energy themselves (not ammo). Your health doesn't drain or anything if it reaches 0 though, you just can't control mech's and use energy weapons. The biggest focus on multiplayer, is grabbing "posts" which are also in single player. You can get up to 1,000-5,000 energy for successfully activating a post. Well, like I originally said, its hard to explain what its all about. But it really wasn't that big of a deal at all for me. I actually think it works out pretty well and in an innovative way in multiplayer. |

Originally posted by Chrono You mean thermal energy, right? Yeah, basically it's a timer. When you are outside, it slowly goes down. Pick up more T-ENG from killed foes. Inside, you lose none, or less T-ENG. |

The T-ENG thing sounds like it could have been added to make a harder difficutly REALLY difficult. Like if it drained more rapidly. Like in Doom 3 where if you play on nightmare mode you health drops. Maby?

I'm pretty sure it does, actually. I've just heard its tons harder to keep it steady on the harder difficulties. |
