It's been cold and rainy. I love it.
What I'm not digging are the days it's nice and misty, but then the clouds disappear and it's hot and humid as fuck. |

"Swamp Thing," as cheesy a movie as it was, was pretty cool. I could understand loving the character, or even the satirical versions like Troma's Toxic Avenger.
Random fact: I finally beat 2048. But then I beat it three more times in quick succession. Now it's no big deal. And yet, I still can't stop playing it. GAAHH! |

This week was spent looking for Lee's dog, Whitey, who thankfully was found and is now back with him, microchipped and wearing a GPS collar.
Now I'm in the middle of cleaning Brandon's and my insanely messy room. There are mountains of clothing, trash, and other things that I can't just throw away because they need to have other spaces in the room cleaned out so I can put them there. So now there's just piles and piles of things on my bed. Speaking of which, I had to mend the holes that opened up in the fabric of our mattress. I was using hot glue to keep it from fraying open more and then applying patches and gluing the edges of those down. In the process of pressing some down, the glue came up over my nail and attached to top of my finger and now there's all this skin pulled off. Leaving tomorrow morning for the Pacific Northwest. I've done at least 9 loads of laundry since yesterday. |

Difficult to say. There's tons of terrible sequels and frankly, I think geeks love having them to bitch about. So, no, I wouldn't be erasing any of the "Star Wars" prequels or "Star Trek," "X-Men," "Batman," "Matrix," "Terminator," "Ocean's," "Rocky," "Mad Max" or "Jurassic Park" sequels. Not even the dreaded pieces of shit like "Staying Alive."
BUT I will save "Indiana Jones," my most beloved of all the franchises. My earliest memories were of watching it as a small child and Indy was my first love. I would strike "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" from all memory everywhere. Holy fuck. EVERYTHING is worse with that in existence. It was so unnecessary and so fucking horrible. What fandom do you have difficulty understanding? (Last edited by Rogue on 03-28-14 11:27 AM) |

Jebus, tell me about it. I've been driving through NorCal today. Went from sunny SoCal to doom and gloom. We were going through INTENSE rain and lightning storms every hour.
We were getting rock hard rain we worried was going to break the windshield of Brandon's mom's rented van. Lightning was striking shit blocks from the highway where we were and the road was pure white with 18-wheelers hydroplaning in and out of their lanes. BUT if you just looked to the left, there was blue sky, pink clouds, and the sunset. We're driving through Oregon today. Let's see if we continue the streak. |

I'm in Anacortes, Washington right now. Been spending the past week hiking, checking out the sites, and working almost endlessly on wedding shit for my sister-in-law.
I've inadvertently become the DJ, using Spotify. Sara doesn't want any fun wedding songs. It's all cheesy love and country songs now. She wants mellow, acoustic, and/or Christian. So I dropped a 2-minute, acoustic cover of "The Rains of Castamere" in there. Yup. |

I, sadly, did not have the camera ready since it was in the list on shuffle. It came on a song or two after their first dance, and at that point most of the guests were standing and on their way out.
I mentioned it on Facebook, but no one really noticed what it was. I doubt any of them watch the show or have even read any real books, let alone "A Song of Ice and Fire." Hicks and (recovering?) meth addicts, I tell ya. The groom's family are lazy jerks. They showed up for the rehearsal dinner, which was supposed to be a decorating party in the church. Brandon's mom bought pizza, which we showed up with. They ate and then all left. Same situation with the reception. They came, they ate, they had cake, they left. It was just me, Brandon, his mom, aunt, and grandma doing all the cleaning along with this woman from the church. We also had to babysit the bride's daughter while they took off to a hotel for the night. Loralei, who's 2, fell down the stairs. It was kind of surreal. I happened to be sitting on the couch after we got back and suddenly I see her flipping through the air and hit the floor. She's fine. I mean, she cried for a while, but then she laid on me, ate the turkey out of my sandwich, and it's like nothing happened. No bumps, bruises, or broken bones. Anyway, I'm glad the wedding shit is over. The bridesmaids copped an attitude when they were asked to help, and didn't do ANYTHING because they said they shouldn't have to. ![]() Matter of fact, when we needed Sara to be there for the decoration party the night before the wedding, the bridesmaids insisted on taking her away to party and get drunk so she doesn't stress. The girl wasn't even stressing -- it was Bran's and Sara's mom who was losing it, if anyone. Worst bridesmaids ever (well, to us, they were). A couple of them treated us like we were "the help." Bran's grandmother has a much more *cough* "colorful" word for it, but I'll refrain from saying it here. When it came to the wedding and reception, it was like it was straight out of that Gogol Bordello song: Seriously, right down to the sandwiches for the entree and the soda/punch. I mean, our sandwiches looked better, but come on! We couldn't have alcohol because some of the groom's family are in AA and it was in a church. Bran's mom swears it's because they just didn't want to spend the money for two-buck Chuck. We had to toast with sparkling apple cider. Bullshit, I tell you. Man do I hate these things. Well... I'm glad that's behind us now. It was one of the many spoilers I already knew. I just don't know who did it. Woohoo for getting to be surprised about something finally. ![]() |

Well... I'm sure I'll get this wrong, but I'm mostly suspecting the Tyrells. Ever since I heard about the spoiler, I long-suspected them of doing it.
But I don't see Cersei as being above poisoning her firstborn, who just married someone she hates, making them queen, while at the same time losing control over him. What's more I think it was more the pie than it was the wine. The whole episode kept focusing on how other characters wouldn't eat. Tyrion mentions Sansa's not eating while talking to Jaime who's also starving himself, nd saying he's feeling powerless without his hand. Varys is heading AWAY from the feasting, and going on about feeling powerless as a foreigner with nothing more than his "little birds." And then Stannis wouldn't eat saying the meat had turned. Yeah, even with a small affair like Sara's where the catering, cake, DJing, sound tech'ing, photography, decorating, dresses, and cleaning were all done for free by family, there was STILL too much bullshit.
Anyway, my house may as well be a bed & breakfast at this point. Since getting back from the trip up the coast, we've hosted our old family friends from Australia. She flew home a few days ago, but she'll be back in a July. In the mean time, my cousin is coming down in June from Sacramento. Her daughter's acting troupe leader decided, on a whim, to submit their latest play to be performed in the Hollywood Fringe Festival, without consulting the parents. They'll be staying with us. No clue about the rest of the kids or their parents, but they're all pretty sheltered and privileged so no idea how they'll take to L.A. |

So lots of people are getting pissed about that Spoiler:
rape scene. I've already heard how it was different from the books, and I actually knew this spoiler was coming. Spoiler: I only thought it was Tommen they had sex in front of and not Joffrey, because the spoiler I'd heard was that they fucked in front of one of their dead children. |

Had the most delightfully exhausting weekend.
On Friday, Brandon and I hit 10 years together and got meat pies and went whale watching in the morning to commemorate before heading to WonderCon in Anaheim. Lee got a hotel room, which made for a crazy-long walk to and from the convention center. Saturday, got re-sunburned from the day before walking to WonderCon, went to the big Warner Brothers and 20th Century Fox presentations (which involved getting to see things and people like Bill Paxton, Richard Armitage, Gary Oldman, Andy Serkis, and preview clips for "Godzilla," "How To Train Your Dragon 2," "Secret Service," and "X-Men: Days of Future Past"), and saw lots of great cosplayers. At night, went to watch Brandon's band play, then came home to take a shower in my own shower, write news for the podcast (which my friend wants to start recording on Sunday nights) at 2 in the morning. Around 3, we got back to the hotel and went to bed. Sunday, went to faire because Rosy was doing some sort of group rate. Little did we realize, getting to the damn park would take hours what with all the Latino families trying to get in for their Easter picnics. And even with sunscreen on, got burned again. But I got a new bodice (my first not made by either my mom or Brandon's grandmother), so it ACTUALLY fits correctly. I love the sewing women in my life, but neither knew the concept of making it tight and not to fit. Left faire to go home to record the podcast, but was stuck in traffic. Called my friend and he said he'd already canceled recording (thanks for not calling, asshole). So yay for watching "Game of Thrones" instead of having to record. And we had gaming on Thursday night and last night. We're completely fucking broke, but it was all worth it. (Last edited by Rogue on 04-22-14 12:36 PM) |

I assumed wrong. The spoiler I found by mistake said they did that without specifying which one and one of the comments to said spoiler said something like, "Poor Tommen."
It's why I thought he was dead when he isn't. |

Hope your mom comes to understand as the date approaches. And here's also hoping the snow melts and doesn't cause insane humidity.
Fuck feeling inadequate at not being able to land a paying job, and fuck that the one "thing" I've got is a non-paying geek news site that I labor to put the podcast out for, but then doesn't post them in a timely fashion. It's been a fucking month since the last one got posted, jackoffs. Fuck that crew on that Korean ferry for telling everyone to stay put and then abandoned ship, leaving all those people to die. Holy fuck, it's times like these I wish there was a hell so they'd be nailed to the floor of it while all manner of heinous shit happens to them. |

I haven't gotten around to putting my suitcase away. It's been out since November because I've been needing it every month since.
Used it to: - Go to Ridgecrest for Thanksgiving. - Go to Ridgecrest for Christmas. - Stay at the Marriott during Anime L.A. in January. - Stay at the Marriott during Gallifrey One in February. - Go up to Washington for a couple weeks for Sara's wedding at the end of March through early April. - And most recently, stay at one of the hotels in Anaheim this past weekend for WonderCon. There are still clothes in it. Occasionally I go through it for things to wear or clean, but it's still been lying around all the same. The cats take to sleeping on it and it's always covered in their hair. (Last edited by Rogue on 04-24-14 12:15 AM) |

I saw a couple episodes of "Space Dandy" this weekend. Man, I don't watch much anime any more.
Anyway, lots of gif possibilities in that one. |

Oh jeez. Sorry to hear about all that. ![]() I just remembered another "fuck you" that's been stewing for a couple weeks now. FUCK Brandon's dad, Scott. The guy is fucking useless. When we've gone to stay with him in Ridgecrest it's been hell, and I usually end up packing up my bags midway through my stay and trying to talk Brandon into just taking us home early. The most recent trip for Christmas was the worst since our transmission blew and he said he wouldn't take us down to Victorville to meet with Lee, who was arranging to have our car towed home, unless we gave him $60 or so. The man just smokes his pot, locks himself in his room, doesn't keep reasonable hours for meals (so we end up starving, most especially this time we couldn't just go out and pick something up ourselves, but usually it's that he wants to cook but just won't get around to it), and he's just a fucking asshole who blames everyone else for everything all the time. Anyway, Sara's wedding happened. He'd already voiced he wasn't going unless everyone else made way for him, paid for his way up there, provided him with a place to stay, fed him, etc. The fucker retired too early and blew all his money from the sale of his house in Long Beach, so he's living with his stepdad in Ridgecrest on his pension or whatever. Before the wedding he was acting like such a fucking victim about not going saying no one's making any effort for him to go to his only daughter's wedding. What's more he'd complain that she probably doesn't even want him there because he supposedly didn't get an invitation and she hasn't called him since June. He's the fucking ADULT here. You'd think if he felt estranged he'd reach out and try to get in touch with her at least. So anyway we (Brandon, his mom [Linda], and I) drive up to Washington, and Linda mentions that she had offered Scott money to come up and told us how different family members had offered funds or at least a place to stay, but he apparently refused. [[By the way, Linda paid for the whole wedding, by herself. She and Brandon's grandmother made the dresses, we did the decorating, catering, cleaning, and everything else (fuck Mike's family for not helping with anything and just showing up to eat when there was food before promptly leaving. There was so much bullshit because of them and the bridesmaids who all didn't want to do anything when asked). Also, we found out from Sara and Mike that lots of invitations came back return to sender and other said they never received them, so it's entirely possible this is what happened to Scott's invite since Linda and Sara have said he was definitely invited. Matter of fact, Scott did mention he got the cheap "save the date" magnet they sent initially before sending out the formal ones.]] So at hearing that several people offered assistance but he was still refusing to come, I got furious and just yelled, "Then fuck him! Everyone else is trying to get him here for his daughter's wedding and he's not even trying. Fuck him." At the wedding a week later, we hear from Brandon's Aunt Jennifer (Scott's sister) that Scott told their brother, Nick, that we (Brandon, Linda, and I) were supposed to come to Ridgecrest (more than a couple hours out of our way) and pick him up so he'd drive up with us. Essentially he's saying it's OUR fault he didn't get to go. Motherfucker. And this shit is going around the family. We made no such deal, and I fucking HATE when people play this bullshit. You have no idea how much I despise drama queens. So we continue to go about the wedding without dwelling on it, but at least, Jennifer thought it was bullshit. Her own daughter is having a location wedding in the fall that we're invited to, and Scott's been making a big deal about going because it'll be a kickass beach party. The fucker is more jazzed about going to his niece's wedding than his DAUGHTER'S. Jennifer was pissed and is saying she's thinking about uninviting him. Getting back down to SoCal, eventually Brandon finally accepted a call from Scott. Upon answering, Scott started out yelling at Bran saying it was bullshit that we didn't take him up with us, and that he could have made plans to meet us in Bakersfield, where he could have parked his truck at a friend's or something. How could we have known to do that? He's already bitching that he can't afford to do anything, why would we be so rude as to assume that he'd have the resources to drive over the Sierras to meet us? "Well I guess no one thinks of me. UGH..." Jesus, fuck this prick. I've flat-out told Brandon I'm not going to Ridgecrest any more. I'm so fucking pissed. I hate to use the phrase, "We got thrown under the bus," because I've always thought it such a ridiculous saying, but goddamn it, he really did it here. Lying about me or my loved ones is a huge no-no with me, asshole. (Last edited by Rogue on 04-24-14 11:06 AM) |
