Well, in college, I met my wife. I changed majors. I played lots of Halo. I one of my best friends there - he was my room mate for all 4 years. I was a part of the Medieval Society and the Anime Club. I worked for the IT department, fixing computers. Not really much else happened except for the Nerf game.

We played Humans Vs Zombies in my Junior year (07-08) and that was a blast. We all had nerf guns all the time during the game. I would usually carry my longshot on my back, a maverick in each cargo pocket of my pants, and I'd have several spare magazines for the longshot in my pockets or bags. I was usually the most heavily "armed" person at all times, but sometimes I was under prepared. I eventually got turned and managed to trick a human into leaving a safe zone in order to get them infected. We ended up losing because we never banned the throwing of fistfuls of darts by humans. The last 2 survivors just had bags of darts and threw handfuls at zombies to kill them at the end. It was kind of cheap, but we had a blast. I just wish I could do that again...=P

Just finished watching the season premier - I loved every second of it. As crazy as the situation in the show is (not to mention highly unlikely/almost impossible), it is believeable and very awesome. Great acting and fantastic special effects tie it all together to be my new favorite show. Captain Marcus Chaplin seems a bit crazy, but in a good way. I like the younger Executive Officer Sam Kendal more because he doesn't necessarily know what is going on, but is doing what he can to help. I'm super happy to see this kind of show and I really hope it doesn't turn into something hokey or unrealistic.

Well, this was/is a tough question. Its sounds so simple, but its very complex. I guess I'll start with how I live my life and go from there.

I live in the present and plan for the future. I remember the past, but I do not dwell in it. If something bad has happened in the past, I learn from it and move on. Some people say I'm cold, but thats just how I get through life. I'm actually very emotional and I do react emotionally...I just tend to not let those emotions run me or override my logical thought processes.

I tend to value family and friends above myself, but I've been known to look out for myself over others on occasion. In a life and death situation, I'd gladly save an innocent person at my own expense.

I value truth, justice, patience, intelligence, and honor in others, so I tend to not look out for people who are not any of these. It shows in my job performance, too. If a customer won't learn or listen to what I'm saying after asking for help, I just point them at something we have in-stock that is going to get me a sale. If the customer is smart or actually pays attention and is a good person, I'll make sure they get what they actually need - even if I have to send them to a competitor to get it.

I'm christian(ish) and I really don't like fanatical religious people. I try to live my life around the basic principles of christianity and I feel that the religion works for me. I even feel that it is the "best" or "correct" religion. However, I will never ever tell you that you are wrong (or right) just because of your religious choices. I have friends who are buddhist, muslim, jewish, athiest (lots of those), agnostic, and even a pegan. Everyone has the right to choose and we are not to judge others for their choices. That is the biggest thing I have against violent/pushy/arrogant/elitest people who claim that their religion is their justification for doing stupid/horrid things. Fuck that.

You might say that I'm one "chill motherfucker" in that I don't tend to show much in the way of "caring" about things. Life does what it does and I'm content to go where it goes. If we use the analogy of "the river of life" I'd say that I use my paddles to steer in my boat, rather than try to row upstream or across the mile wide river to get to a small split. I don't believe in fate, but I do belive in causality. I steer my life, but I don't try to control it with an iron fist. Does that even make sense?

Why do I get up in the morning? I think its because I feel a need to do something. I tend to be "lazy" on days I don't work or have things planned, but I usually end up accomplishing something worth showing...or I just fuck around and play games. I love sleep, but I like doing things more. Also, I'd rather spend an hour being bored with someone that spend 3 hours playing my favorite game or having fun. As much as I hate to say it, I thrive with people.

I live by the idea that I'll do my thing, you do yours, and lets not fuck with eachother's goals. You don't piss me off, I won't piss you off. If it happens, be cool - it was probably an accident. Why can't people just relax and get over themselves? We can all do our thing and not argue. Just take some responsibility and fess up when you screw up or insult someone. And don't get insulted/upset about stupid things that won't matter in a week. If you won't remember it in a week (or 3), its not important. Don't worry about it. And don't make ridgid plans and expectations - if plans change, don't get upset...its ok!

I think I covered everything that was asked, but I'm not positive. I know my interview is now "over" but I'd like to keep it open to additional questions or comments from other people. =D

Thanks, Xeo. It really means a lot to me to hear that my thoughts resonate with you.

I do have that battle system thing still on my site and backed up on my computer. I may never finish it, but I still look at it from time to time and think about how to move forward. If anyone ever wants the code, I'll give it out no problem.

When I took my test for the Air Force, I was shocked that the others scored so low. I got a 95, but most of the others were around 50-65. The test was easy as a basic high school test. Seeing that makes me unconcerned about my Officer test. Its supposed to be like an SAT/ACT type test.

I have several friends in the Navy and one in the Marines. I didn't want to do either since I don't like boats. Same thing with Coast Guard. That left Army and Air Force. I'm sure I could have gone Army and gotten a very quick rank-up in the Officers, but I decided Air Force was "safer" than Army. *shrug*

Posted on 01-25-13 11:48 AM, in Gun Reform Link
I was waiting for someone to make this topic...I didn't want to be the one to make the thread...

I think any sort of ban on firearms or restrictions (that are not already in place, which I'll touch on later) are in violation of the fundamental reason we have a second amendment. We have that amendment to allow citizens to defend themselves from a corrupt government, thieves, murderers, rapists, and anyone else that interferes with their rights and liberties.

Banning a gun or set of guns based solely on their appearance is just plain stupid and ignorant. The law makers and anti-gunners seem to think that a weapon that looks like a machine gun is a machine gun. This is a LIE. In 1986, the Federal government banned the sale or transfer of new machine guns to civilians. This means that if you want a full-auto gun, you have to find an older one that is for sale and have enough cash to buy it. Usually, functional fully automatic guns are very expensive for civilian purchase. For more information about the "Assault Weapon" lie, check out AssaultWeapon.info

On the subject of guns in schools and armed guards... I don't like having just armed guards. In fact, I'd rather the teachers of the schools be armed than have special guards. If anything, schools should not be gun-free zones. A "Gun-Free Zone" reads as "Come here and shoot anyone, because they are unarmed!" to a criminal or murderer. If every public school had guns in the hands of trained and responsible adults, we wouldn't have school shootings.

"But who says the teachers/guards/etc are trained or responsible?" The state or federal government should create VERY strict training and licensing for teachers (free of charge to the teacher for incentives!) that requires full training on gun safety, gun security, tactical situational awareness and assessment of threat, and marksmanship with their chosen firearm. They would have to show competency in all of these areas and be able to hit targets at a regular range. This qualification would need to be done anually to ensure that the holder is actually competent.

As for non-teachers, anyone with a Concealed Pistol License should be able to carry in a school. However, some people with a CPL are morons. We need to have stricter control on the license and make people actually learn their gun safety, not just put them in the class and then hand them a certificate. Practical demonstration should be required. Its damn scary to go to my local range now because of all the panic buyers "testing" their new guns and having no idea how to use them.

On that note, I believe gun safety should be incorporated into schooling at a fairly early age. Probably around the same age as sex education. If kids are curious about guns, teach them, show them, let them hold empty guns to see what it is like. Don't give them ammo, but let them be curious. At the same time, hammer in that safety is KEY. If a curious child improperly handles their training replica, snatch it away and treat it as a real safety concern. They'll learn quickly. Gun safety and respect are important in keeping kids safe around firearms.

(Extra Rant) I won't get into how respect is on the decline in American society, but that would need to be fixed at the same time to fully ensure safety. That, along with responsibility for your own offspring needs to change. If a child fails, its not the teacher's fault, the parents need to be part of the child's life. (/Extra Rant)

I heavily encourage you to go to your local gun range and ask to be taught to shoot a rifle or pistol if you have not done so already. Most ranges will do this for you for free, so long as you rent a gun from them. Also, check out Gunnit on Reddit for additional conversations and discussion. I'm a subscriber and I love some of the things on there.

I welcome questions and discussion, but please don't just say "Guns are bad!" Educated, logical discussion is great and I welcome it. As a responsible gun owner and CPL holder, I will try to answer any question (within reason) that I am able to.

So, my wife wants me to help her with her church class homework, and I know some of you guys and gals are non-christian, so I agreed to post here. Basically, she just needs to know if you have any interesting cultural values that would be different from the average Christian and how you view Jesus (if you even believe). I've got her quote from Facebook below. Any answer (even if it is just a few words or a freakin novel) would help.

Thanks for helping! If this is the wrong place to post, I apologize. We can close this after Monday if you wish.

(never done one of these, but felt I should share something)

Fuck people who login to other's Facebook accounts and post serious shit. A buddy of mine that I haven't seen in a while had his account open when he went to sleep and some asshat posted something to the effect of "I'm sick of life, gonna end it" and "Thinking of interrupting a train from the front." Fuck that!

He found out when he woke up to 25-30 messages on his phone telling him that people cared and he was all "WTF? I'm not suicidal" and checked his FB. He removed the post and comments and then posted that he changed his passwords and that the post was a fake. Scared the shit out of some of us!

If you must prank post on FB (which is a dick move anyway!) post something stupid like "Just won the lotto! Fuck all y'all!" or "Gonna go wrestle a bear - BBL!", not something so serious. NEVER fake self-harm! Its not cool...

Hey guys! I'm part of a new youtube show called PWN Gaming. Our first episode is part of a mini-series for Minecraft. We're trying to get to the Ender Dragon on Hardcore! We're not too great at playing on multiplayer, but the show is pretty neat anyway. We had lots of fun recording it.

Any feedback (here or on the video comments) would be greatly appreciated!

In my eyes, we could get over this stupid debate by changing the word "marriage" to "civil union" and give everyone the same damn rights. This way "marriage" (which is a religious term) can still be between people and the church (traditional or not, whaterver, I don't really care). If you are legally "married" today, that just changes names to be a "civil union."

I don't particularly agree with homosexuality, but I'm not going to let my opinion get in the way of their rights. This is America, and religion is supposed to stay out of government and therefore laws.

8 month bump, but I finally have a real update.

I've taken the oath of enlistment and am submitting my officer packet. If I don't go officer (which I very much hope I do get!), I'll be shipping out on August 27th, 2013 as a Crypto Linguist. If I get officer, I'll be trying for Pilot, Navigator, or Air Battle Manager.

Thanks for all the support and I'm so happy I get to lurk on this board. =P

PS: sorry for the mega-bump, I didn't think adding a new thread was worth while. =/

Well, I have been having trouble getting in touch with the officer recruiter (SSgt. Filkins in Flint, MI), but if I end up going enlisted, I get an $11,000 signing bonus. I still want officer, since the pay is better, but I'm going either way.

I'm going to stay away from fighter piloting, since its so elite and demanding. I'll look for large plane piloting, navigator (on any plane), or Air Battle Manager. I'm thinking ABM would be most awesome.

I've been hearing a lot about these cuts and know that this isn't the greatest time, but I have been trying for almost a year now... I just finally gained the weight I needed. I'm one skinny mofo...

Posted on 08-10-13 09:50 AM, in Fighting allergies? Link
My allergies aren't so bad, but I've made them worse by living with an allergen-producing pet...I'm "very allergic" to cats, but I only get itchy eyes and stuffy nose for my allergies. I own a cat and I cuddle with him all the time.

For my bad days, I take a single sudafed (usually generic, because its cheaper), and for nights (when I can sleep for 8hrs!) I'll take a single benadryl (or generic). If I can even semi-normally function, I take nothing. I've raised my tolerance level to the allergies greatly and I haven't reduced the effectiveness of the meds.

If you feel the need to medicate often (daily or more-so), try rotating types of medicine every 2-3 weeks to keep their effectiveness. If you take it all the time, your body will stop reacting to it as well and its helpfulness decreases.

NOTE: I am NOT a doctor! I am merely saying what has worked for me as an individual in the past! Follow your doctor's advice!
