Since I've registered since who knows when, I'd like to think I'm a slightly nicer person--no regrets if I haven't though. Nonetheless, I think I've gotten to know the people here a lot better--except Chevy, I already knew him from Ragnarok Online. Since registering, I've graduated high school, and enrolled in a community college. It's actually kind of neat sometimes. This board has affected me--marginally.

Oh yeah, I'm joining the college newspaper. D:

I got the exact score I needed on the final to not fail. I also fail to see how calculus would help as a bio major, I can understand statistics, but fucking Calculus?!

Also, Ranting is good for the mind, body, and soul. It helps focus your frustration, relieve stress, and will help you live longer.

I've had problems with calculus as well. I flunked the high school class and AP test. But then I took it at the university and aced both semesters. :O

Calculus textbooks aren't known for their clarity or prose though, so if you are interested in math but don't like calculus, look around with books. Michael Spivak wrote a very good book, Calculus, with lots of foundations, and he'll explain how one does everything instead of just using examples. And the book's pretty cheap.

Isn't thinking that one is a nice person imply a lot of unwarranted egotism in the first place?

Congratulations on your admittance. Might I ask where it is?

In college, it's unlikely that your teachers will be motivating--this mustn't be true, but it's unwise to expect otherwise. One ought to find motivation personally--ideally, in college one pursues a topic of interest, but whatever works is up to you. Most people in college just screw around, or the teacher is bad, and that's where curves will arise from.

Once one has been admitted, there's a grade threshold, but besides that, a few B's usually won't effect any negative changes.

Towards the babysitting disrupting, it really does depend on what subjects, e.g., for math, economics, philosophy, English, foreign language, or other such subjects, the writing part isn't as important as internalizing one's understanding.

Worst case scenario, if your homework isn't worth much point-wise and isn't helping your understanding of the course, just stop doing it. Or better yet, do your homework during class. Or don't listen to me.

This is the first time I've considered that I haven't considered doing anything for the first time. Evidently, I must have started somewhere, but everything just seems autoregressive. Actually, I tried differential geometry for the first time. It's like this:

Unimaginably, it has non-trivial consequences!

It's rather incorrect to assume the accusation is true, just because of a biased article. Just saying. =

Yeah,b ut a lot of states vary in their minimum wage. For instance, here in NC, our minimum wage is $6.15.

Honestly though, I'd reccomend Office Max, it's an awesome store.

Oh, that's a good one.

Same here actually. I had to change majors (A decision I still cry myself to sleep over...my heart is in film. Still going for it, I just need to take a different approach...I'm just impatient and still feeling shitty about being a business major at the moment) but technically I'm still a college freshman. I only took on 4 classes, couldn't afford more than that really...but now I'm down to 2. I had to drop the others, and my GPA has dropped significantly. Perfect GPA through most of high school, and if not perfect, then almost perfect. Perfect GPA last year of school...now a 2.something...

**huggles** I just keep telling myself that it'll be okay. Perhaps the first step for you is getting yourself out of the rut mentally. I dunno how it is for anyone else, but as long as I FEEL okay, I can make things okay no matter how bad they are.

**shrugs**

I started with 26 credit hours (8 classes) and am now down to 18 (6 classes). And only Orchestra outside of classes. I feel like such a jellyfish, and I'm not even taking serious classes. And my counselor isn't letting me take one class that I'm interested in taking even so I can transfer in a timely manner. What gives? =

That's a nice thing about community colleges. Although, it's not really so nice, since the classes are so deplorable. Well, some of them, at least. I was taking one class at UCSD, but that didn't turn out so great. =

I'm trying to stick to a solid 24 this time. Hopefully, it will be less painful, since most are major-related. One of my professors even has breakfast sessions, so that should be fun.

Incidentally, I wanted to take an honors course with a professor who's seriously been in the monkey barrel--it's a cultural anthropology class.

Where are you going that classes are so expensive, Katana?

Sex doesn't need to be taught as much as the social norms that surround it and the consequences that follow it. Sex is instinctual.

I think some of us need to get over the "yuck" factor. If they're sexually active, and there's a lack of indoctrination(God, society, etc--it varies from place to place), such things happen.

Also, I thought one had to have knowledge of the criminality of their action? It really doesn't seem at all equitable or sensible if people are charged for an action they lack understanding of.

I'm happy for you, but I still don't like commitments, or forks. I heard it's really easy for army vets to return to college, for whatever reason. I don't understand why our institutions reinforce killing and not peace, but whatever.
