Here, a link to the King James Version.

...

So you think that everybody should die. Everybody...

Every last man, woman, and child.
But seriously, although I think it was necessary action, it's no cause for jubilation or glee. Has anything really changed for the better?

They wouldn't care. They have bigger fish to catch. You'd probably rank under feeder fish, or maybe plankton. The funny part is that it's been happening for quite a while, and no one has complained about it much. As long as it doesn't violate people's human agency, then it's not really a big problem. In fact, people are better off not knowing about it.

So depending on how dedicated you are to doing all of these things is how quickly you will learn them. Now, the way I learn is by writing them down, making flash cards, using kanji software for both the PS2 and DS, playing games in total Japanese, reading manga and books in Japanese, practicing with kanji drill books . . . yeah, I'm dedicated. Japanese is my life -- I can see myself doing anything else. I think I know around 700 kanji and can write about 300 of them. I working on trying to write the ones I know.

I have no idea how many kanji I know, but I can write most all of them. The funny thing is that if one learns a kanji, one has to know the kanji that it goes with to make other words, therefore eliminating any sense of how many kanji one knows. And I hope you mean that you "can't see" yourself doing anything else. =)
But forget that. I need your help. I have to make a powerpoint presentation about ukiyoe, and I have no clue what to write about. I don't want to use too much jargon since I don't know that much of Japanese, and I want to keep it simple.

Way to just read the name of the thread and not actually read anything in it, therefore truthening this point:

Originally posted by Rogue on why this board is better than others

- People are so concerned with post count, they don't read the previous posts in a thread, or even the first one, but only post their idiotic views on the title. Say a person posts a thread asking about the main plot points in the Star Wars Attack of the Clones cartoon, you get this disjointed conversation from everyone in the thread just raving about what they think about Star Wars, not addressing any of the questions or the fact that the topic isn't even about the movies.

I thought it was important that everyone knew the difference between verb "quote" and noun "quotation." Since if you make a mistake once, it's probably a typo, or even twice or thrice. But five times, by two different people?

I'm not sure if this helps, but "alone" and "scared" aren't things that animals feel, it's human feeling. At least, that's what I think. Animals probably know better than humans that they're going to die sometime. The same thing almost happened to my dog, she couldn't walk and wasn't eating, but she got better after we put her on steroids.
I don't think that they put animals to sleep because the notion that the animals suffer, but that the owner suffers in seeing their pet in pain.

I didn't want to ruin the story for those who haven't seen it. I also thought the movie didn't run around the plot, but on character development, which I thought was very well done.

It's not like the LAPD is the one listening in on us... this is the FBI. They're looking out for the nation, not to make simple arests.

It's also a good practice for data processing. Not to reduce the population of the United States to guinea pigs, but it's a good specimen. Mostly harmless, too.

That was actually something I wondered about while sitting in the waiting room afterward. This woman was there with her son's guinea pig, and was bringing it in for "the shot." She simply said she was "tired of watching it suffer."

Not to open a can of Terri Schiavo worms

Haha, worms.

here, but it bothered me that putting an animal down was perfectly all right because she was "tired" of watching the guinea pig sit in its cage and not doing anything in its old age of 6. Granted in cases where the animal is in extreme pain and a life that's nothing but lethargy, pain, and helplessness is not a life at all, we don't go to nursing homes and knock out the elderly because there's no life left in them.

I'm sure animals have a better grasp on mortality, being animals they know what's important and their instincts and intuitions come from a primal nature. I suppose we personify our pets because we grow close to them and believe their just as human as we are.

In the end, putting Willie down was probably the best thing for the situation. The initial costs of him being admitted into the animal hospital was $500. They wanted to keep him for 2 weeks at $100 a day, on a drip IV. After getting a second and third opinion with other vets, they said that 90% of the time, the cat doesn't make it through even after all of the hospitalization.

I do agree that it was much more humane, but it still broke my heart to have to watch it happen.

I'm not saying we should purge the world of the old and useless, but that there's a time when all living things deserve the right to not live. I think this is when one cannot carry out their function in life, for what is the life of the hunter that cannot hunt?
