| A man spoke, from outside the group. He was still in the circle, but he had managed to extirpate himself from the others.
"WHY dOes SometHing havE to made us tHIs way." He spoke softly, looking at the ground between his feet, his long, frayed black hair cast before his face; yet he displayed no weakness. He spoke with deliberation, as if every word he said had been planned and judged several times over in his mind before being delivered. Despite the wavering tones in his voice, he belied no emotion when he spoke. "Can it nOt just Be whAt wE ARE. OR mUst You sEek to dIagnose and eXplain every facet of us, so tHat You can 'cure' us, anD make uS youR deFinitIon oF 'nOrMAL'." |

He looked towards the orchestrator of the group, his eyes piercing through his dark mane. They locked with Steven -- the right a deep green; the left a cold grey. His eyes were surrounded by patches of skin, each one a different shade than it's neighbor, conjoined by scars that seemed to resemble stitching. The pattern continued over what could be seen of his face, each patch a unique size and shape. His brow protruded slightly, and his lips had a somewhat feminine quality. "HOW DoeS wilL play iNto this situAtion? We were captUred againSt our will, detained agAinst our will, forced to partiCipate in this inane solUtion of Yours. Tell me, sincE when do we hAve a wiLl oF ouR OWN?" He reached up and pushed some hair out of his face. He barely managed, his effort hampered by the metal globe surrounding his hands, which were connected at the wrist by a metal bar. His ankles were joined together in a similar manner, and both of the bars were joined together by a chain. |

| Lycaon sat in the courtyard, his placement irrelevant. He remained in his bonds, for he required no nourishment. He could feel the sights from the two rifles trained on his back. He had escaped before, and they knew he would again. He observed the events around him: the Michael comforting Helena, Stallion's abrasive conversations, the accosting of Marionette. How silly, these people's need for human interaction, to belong. It was a weakness, one he prided himself in not being part of.
He tensed his muscles, and felt his bonds groan in resistance, but they didn't give; they never did. |

| Lycaon was led back to his cell; he'd been outside long enough, and the guards were weary. Once the door behind him closed, his shackles unlatched themselves, and dropped to the floor. He unclenched his hands and moved his fingers. His hands didn't match each other. In fact most of his fingers didn't match each other.
His cell was constructed of the same material as his bonds, a metal that he had created himself. Lycaon hadn't personally created it, and yet he had. It was really a matter of perspective. Called khazinium, it was extremely thin, light, pliable, and -- most importantly -- energy resistant. It was his own undoing. Of course, even without his creating it, the development was inevitable. He laid down on his bed, a slate of metal jutting out from his wall, and looked up at the ceiling. It was strung up with fluorescent lights. He hated fluorescent lights. He reached down to the stack of books under his bed, grabbing one arbitrarily. Ptolemy's Almagest. He opened to a random page and began to read. |

| It's not a half million different weapons, it's weapon combinations. Different stocks, barrels, sights, mags, bodys, etc. that combine to make the best weapon for you. They're manipulating the language to make it sound like there's more than there is. Like in Battlefield 2142, it says theres 10,000 class combinations. But that includes unlock #1. Then #1 and #2. Then just #2. Then #3. Then 1 and 3. 2 and 3. 1, 2, and 3. Ad nauseam. That's never going to happen. But it's true, and it makes a big number.
But the weapon system still looks cool. Custom weapons ftw. |

| He slammed his fist against, the wall sending a reverberating echo through the room, yet leaving no mark on the khazinium surface.

| As his subordinate disappeared, Lycaon replaced his bonds. When they had been put back in place, they emitted a light beep as the relocked. The bolt on his door was undone, and he was lead silently out of the room. Three guards followed him: one behind, and one on each side. There used to be a fourth guard, that led ahead, but he had been... retired, and was not replaced.
He was set down on a hard chair, and a phone receiver was held to his ear. |

| Lycaon glanced at the nearby guard, then leaned closer to the glass.
"have you come to gloat, james? to admire your walls, and your guards, and your little boxes? to make sure that all is well in the kingdom you have created. quite a gathering of powers here, i'm sure you know. and all that keeps them at bay is your little drug. are you sure it will hold out james? are you sure it can contain all of us." |

He had been slowly moving closer to the window, drawing the attention of his captor. "is this trophy worth your life." With that, he leapt forward, smashing through the two planes of plexiglass. The wire between the glass gouged his flesh as he tore through it, going straight for Othello's throat. |

| Lycaon landed in a crouched position, but quickly fell forward, landing awkwardly on his sphere enclosed hands. His heads swam. He slowly stood, and attempted to assume some form of defensive stance. Of course, with his wrists and ankles bound together, it was quite a challenge. In fact, the entire process of standing brought to mind that of a baby giraffe. Quite a display for such an infamous being.
Despite this, he managed to stand, and face the guards. |

| Lines of pain arced across Lycaon's flesh, reminders of the wires that he had dove through, gouging every inch of his flesh. Larger gashes, left from the shards of plexiglass, were scattered across his body. The trails of blood ran down into his eyes from where his head had shattered the barrier. He attempted to wipe it away with his arm, but the chain attaching his wrists to his ankles was too short.
His wounds didn't bother him, they would heal. It was the dark. He had excellent night vision, but even the best required some light to operate. He saw nothing. It was not something that happened naturally, complete blackness, and it would be disconcerting to even a normal person, but Lycaon drew his power from the light. Already his body felt weak. Even the taint of fluorescent lights provided him with power, but in this blackness his body was feeding on the last of its energy. He would last, of course. Even without light it took him quite some time to die. How long had the left him in there last time? He had no idea -- time lost its meaning in here -- but they had waited until the last moment to pull him out. He had been so weak that he couldn't even stand. |

| Lycaon shuffled out, embracing the warming sun. The effects on his system were instantly obvious. The cuts running along his body had barely healed enough to stem the blood flow, his body conserving its precious energy. Now, the wounds began to heal at a visible rate, until all that remained were red lines crossing across his flesh. Closed his eyes, took a deep breath and seemed to grow in size. The colors returned to his face, as his body restoring functions that it had shut down in his weakened state.
He opened his eyes and eyed Marionette. "WHAt ArE yOU lookiNG AT?" |
