Alden looked at the ground.

"I haven't seen Eric in five years. Not since..."

He looked up and made eye contact with Holly.

"That day changed him; the shards changed him. For him, it wasn't the same as for us. The shards augmented us, added to who we were. Let us do things we couldn't. Levitate objects with our mind, protect ourselves from harm. But for Eric, it redefined him. Imagine if you were suddenly invincible? It changes the way you interact with the world. Turns you from a timid accountant into a fearless warrior. I imagine Josiah himself went through a similar process.

"Now that the way you live in the world has changed drastically, what if - suddenly - it was gone? That thing that made you so powerful and confident vanished without a trace. I imagine Eric felt that he needed some time to himself."

Ban guns in the military? I doubt that anyone is doing that.

I just don't want someone in office who wants to cut back on the military (that is one of the stupidest things you can do is cut back on a nation's military budget... history has proven that it never ends well for the countries that do. They usually are the first to go in a war.... France for example).

We spend 1 Trillian dollars a year on the military. We can afford to cut it down a bit. And did France... They're still there.

Anyway, I kinda like John Edwards. Ridiculously boring man, but it's not like I have to listen to his speeches. I'll have John Steward do it for me.

Wow, those are some really tallented web designers there. They know the link and image tags. You'd think WB would have better people. If you're going to have just that, make it really nice? Or just have that be the main page, and have a sidebar or something.

Feel like going and making a site of what they should have done...

EDIT: Also, people have been saying that WB will not release Dark Knight because of Ledger's death. To which I respond "Are you retarted?" After the amount of time and money they've sunk into it? Not only that, but if they don't release this, it pretty much kills the franchise, so that's a massive source of income out the window.

And to those that say it will be weird to watch DK, I respond "Is it weird to watch a Chris Farley movie, because he's dead?" No. Although this is more recent, my point still stands.

Too bad though, this looks like it will be Heath Ledger's greatest role yet. Out with a bang?

John charged around the corner and looked at the mess before him only a moment before turning back the way he came and yelling to his camera man,

"Samuel, get over here!"

Samuel came around, camera resting on his shoulder, and pointed it into the room. He instantly lowered the camera, bent over, and vomited. John, pushed the camera man out of the way, and grabbed the camera.

"Out of the way. If you aren't going to do your job, I will."

He brought the eyepiece up and began filming the holding cell. He began to walk forward, panning the lens around the bloodied room.

The camera lingered on the spectacle before them before John began to run after Arman, not wanting to miss a moment of what was to come. As he stepped through the hole he turned back to Samuel.

"Call Simmons. He'll want to hear about this."

And he quickly chased after Arman, keeping close watch on the viewfinder.

John came around the corner of the building as Arman crested his flight over the car. As the shots were fired, he ducked back behind the wall, but at the same moment, flipped out the camera's viewfinder and edged it around the corner.

The keys skidded on the ground before John. He stared at them, then looked back at the scene before him. After a moment's consideration, he set the camera down, looking at the parking lot, grabbed the keys, and ran.

Just finished catching up in the Vlad Taltos books, by Steven Brust. Someone here has to have read them, please?

Started reading the other Dragaeran novels that don't follow Vlad, namely Paths of the Dead.
