Today, some of us became witnesses to the sad reality that several people still don't know how to use their browsers, computers, internet or Facebook. In a fiasco involving an article about a merger between Facebook and AOL and the Google search term "facebook login", the comments section of information blog Read Write Web became the greatest example of internet stupidity and illiteracy ever...and a sad representation of the immense fail that is society.

Here's the gist. People open their browser of choice and land on the Google homepage somehow. They enter "facebook login" in the search bar and click on the first few results...which in the case of Google are the blog articles discussing this proposed merger of AIM and Facebook Login API. People blindly click on the article, probably holding some false trust in Google search results, and are led to the Read Write Web (http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/facebook_wants_to_be_your_one_true_login.php) article.

Aware of the new and recent changes to actual Facebook, they assume the Read Write Web site to be "the new Facebook" and become outraged and frustrated. They end up logging into RWW using the Facebook Login button, and provide their frustrated comments. And internet hilarity ensues. The idiocy flows, and it is quite saddening. Does no one know how to use the address bar in a browser anymore?

The article even goes so far as to provide a BOLD LETTERED CAPS ENABLED warning mid-article for the wayward arrivees from Google Search, but they should know better. The stupid don't read. I know that from my own webcomic metrics. And TSA. And Disneyland.

The article is pretty interesting, but the comments are even more hilarious, and they go on for (at time of this posting) 14 pages!

http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/facebook_wants_to_be_your_one_true_login.php

Is anyone else saddened by how stupid these people are?

My coloring and drawing is getting a lot better. This damned thing took two freakin' days, but here goes:

A question: Would you fight him if you were capable? Remember, Anubis conjures up fire...hence the burned poster of his future opponent in the background.

And for those interested, the progression of coloring:

Oh yay!

I've been without adequate health care for the past three years, so I'm happy to have something that isn't our crap of a county system. Four months wait for an appointment? I'm sick NOW, dammit. Well, I'm not. But, I do need to see a doctor anyway, and this is really helpful.

And then I need my dental stuff. THAT is more important to me than anything else.

No, I'm not masturbating on camera.

I just cloned myself to sing "Come What May" with myself. I then killed the good clone.

I apologize in advance for the following:

- My lack of intonation

- The differing levels of lighting due to the time differences between each shot and my laziness to fix it.

- Any slight sync issues between sound and video

- My choice of attire

- My choice of song

Other than that, this was just something for me to do because I'm a very bored and huge dork. ENJOY!

YouTube also has TEXTp featured as a text-friendly version ASCII driven video thing on their main page.

Google.com changed their name to Topeka.

Homestar Runner has a Xerioxly Forxe intro.

And Hulu has an "internal and confidential" orientation video detailing their plot to enslave the planet through television.

I've done nothing with my own websites because I'm lazy.

So peoples, I know I've been on and off for the better half of the last five years, but I drop on your humble um...*looks around*...whatever this is for a question/suggestion.

Lately, my webcomic characters have been sucked into MMA fights with fans on different locations (my PMs at Fur Affinity, my PMs at my webcomic's forum, my webcomic's forum). Now, I started just indulging them because it helped me to figure out the personalities and fight styles of my characters. I even gave them profile stats in my forum (1 human, 1 human with demonic powers, 1 anthro Egyptian god)...

Anyway, I was wondering, should I construct a viable fight system based on hit points, or should I just let the fighters figure out when they're defeated? So far, participants seem to be pretty good about just accepting defeat when it comes (as am I with my characters), and the rules are basically that of an MMA fight, except that the whole power, destroying the arena, time/dimension jumping, everything is allowed.

The only reason this comes up now is because one of my characters is facing off with another character, and they've gotten pretty destructive and I don't know how it's going to end, and if we can even end it (they're each getting progressively stronger and destructive). So, I was wondering about hit point systems or something like that. What do you guys do here? I never really paid attention to it before.

Posted on 04-30-10 06:08 AM, in New to the board? Introduce yourself here! Link
I remember it being really active some five years ago or so, but then I guess we all grew up and life just started demanding more. I come back about once a month to check on things, post some random, and then forget about "the board" for a while.

Mind you, this is the only place I think of when referring to a board at all. Every place else has been a forum or otherwise. Speaking of forums, I'm lately stuck at my own forum for my webcomic. Not nearly as active, but still ties up my time with fans asking things and doing things and other stuff. Since I'm the only staff member, and it doesn't need much moderation.

Anywho, I feel I need introduction, but I probably don't. The Board's 42nd member, lately being the Thread Killer, and have been around through at least four user name changes. CIAHacker might be the most memorable. Zabuza for a while too. TSAHacker at some point. BREWNinja for a while. Stitch now. Probably stay that way.

Ah, well, I don't find as much interaction as I used to to keep me here more frequently. Interest in things I write or video or draw have died, so I tend to seek attention elsewhere. But, I still come back.

Unemployed for the past 5 months. Let's see...I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area for three years; having just moved back in February after being unable to pay for my pricey apartment. Drive a minivan now, sporty one. Been relationship-less for almost a decade. I'm too weird apparently. Briefly worked for Yahoo! Started a webcomic almost two years ago. Still writing, but abandoned much of the larger projects I started here. Only really working on two projects that I started for NaNoWriMo. I have a shared dog still.

I guess that's pretty much it. Still gay.

My mom's hospital called back letting her know that they found something in her mammogram, but the first appointment to find out what that something is isn't until the 17th. So, with a history of breast cancer, including one aunt lost early in 2008 to the cancer, we're a little on edge.

Soon, we'll be pushing 30 being those hip 30-somethings with cats/dogs as our kids and driving off to Vegas on well-planned trips because we can't possibly dream of doing anything impromptu short of possibly driving to some rock randomly.

The only place I actively RP is on my own webcomic's forums, and they're RP MMA fights.

About as active as I get is checking this board once a month. Maybe. I don't RP anymore, though. I don't do a lot of anything much anymore.

I've noticed that my fighters are generally good at ending their fights on their own. I usually only step in if I'm growing tired of it, they're not ending it, or there's a storage issue on my end (for my site)

I'm currently enrolled at the Art Institute of California in Los Angeles, and have started on a Fundamentals of Drawing class. I kind of needed something that wasn't my self-taught thing.

So, homework was to perspective draw some boxes and shoes. This is my assignment:

I got an A, but that's really not saying much compared to my classmate's work. I mean, their work is horrible compared to mine, and mine isn't even all that great. At least in my opinion.

This is 1 hour 30 minutes of footage compressed to about 3 minutes of video.

So, these guys (Arc Attack) have dual Tesla coils cone speakers built using transistors so they can rapidly turn them on and off to emulate the motion of speakers producing sound. That way, they can blast sound-infused lightning sparks from both coils and create awesome music.

This is one of many videos I took at Maker Faire on Saturday.

The guy in the middle is wearing a chain mail suit, to conduct the sparks through his suit to the grounded chain mail below him. Also, he's plugged directly into the lead guitarist so that the sparks actually sync with the music.

I broadcast my drawing sometimes on my website (http://eccentricitycomic.info/live), but not often because of the time it takes. I usually only broadcast the webcomic stuff, though. I also don't have a scanner big enough for the

Cloth is just a cotton handkerchief I use when I'm drawing since I have sweaty palms, and my teacher requires redrawing the entire thing if he finds smudges.

But, yes, getting an A in this class would only be awesome if my classmates were much of a competition for the A. They're not. But, it is a beginning class, so when I move into the upper division classes, the grades will be more competitive. For now, an hour for homework is nothing.

At least until we started pencil shading, and now I'm fucked.
